Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 66 Check Up

Meadow’s p.o.v. Every Squad member knows that my training sessions can be brutal; today, Gold Moon Pack is going to find out. “Good morning. Yesterday, we lost a bet with Meadow, as most of you have witnessed. Today, Gamma Layton will pay off his debt to Meadow. For the next twenty four hours, Meadow will be acting as Gamma of Gold Moon Pack.” Alpha Lincoln announces at breakfast. “I will be with Meadow every step of the way. Anyone who even thinks about going against her during training will answer to me within the next few days.” Gamma Layton states. I don’t say a word; I don’t have to because Alpha Lincoln and Gamma Layton have said all. Last night, I asked Gamma Layton to make a few changes to the patrol schedule for today. I want certain people to attend training and some of them were supposed to be on patrol today. After breakfast, we follow Captain Miles to the meeting room. He wants me to explain what I want to do and I know he will back me completely. We are still laughing as we walk out of the Pack-house. This Pack has no idea what they are about to face and I am going to enjoy myself. “Gamma Layton, I believe we are missing a few Pack-members.” I say as I look around the crowd. “Can you please ensure they arrive within five minutes? If not, they will face the consequences.” Maryan is looking at her watch, keeping track of the time. In the meantime, I show Gamma Layton what I have planned for today’s training and he chuckles as he reads my schedule. “Time’s up.” Maryan says. I look up from my schedule to see other Pack-members looking at one another, mumbling softly among themselves. “Okay, today we'll start with sparring. I will team you up; you spar in Human form. Your Shifter half stays out of this. Anyone who breaks the rules will have to face Myka or Makay.” I say. “Thyrius and Blade are permitted to assist if you break the rules.” Maryan turns her back on the Pack-members, she doesn’t want them to see that damn smirk on her face. “Gamma Meadow, here are your missing sheep.” Alpha Lincoln says as he guides Rhys, Mia, Sarah and Stella onto the training grounds. “Maryan, team them up with the rest of our team.” I say before returning my attention to the others. I make sure that a Pack-member is teamed with a Squad member, knowing full well that our training is harsher and more brutal than what they are used to. Thank the Goddess that we are all Shifters and they will heal from the injuries they sustain today. Not that it would have stopped me if it would take them a few days to heal. I partner my friends with our current leadership and the remainder of our future leadership. Captain Miles is calling out the names of the teams I made, and some of them look somewhat pale. I know what will happen in a few minutes, so I made sure cameras were mounted around the training grounds. We start out with some light sparring; I want to see what these Pack-members can do and what they are capable of. We switch offense and defense, I need to have a starting point for each of the Pack-members. I look over my shoulder at Maryan to see that Raya will be sparring with Rhys. He is going to regret waking up today. Raya is going to show him every corner of the training grounds. She occasionally manages to give me a run for my money. Captain Miles and I walk back to the fence; we will watch this training session from a distance. “When I blow the whistle, you start sparring. Pack-members will start on the offense; Squad members will take the offense after I have blown the whistle again.” Captain Miles states, the whistle sounds a bit harsh next to my ear. Rhys charges at Raya, who sidesteps without missing a beat. He keeps charging at her at full speed, but it isn’t helping. He gets tired quickly and I realize he has let his training slide since Alpha Lincoln showed up. He no longer holds the Beta title, which probably means that he has no longer a routine, which is the cause of his decrease in stamina. After they hear the whistle, our Squad members immediately switch to offense. The Pack-members are not used to this type of training and are not ready to defend themselves. Only a small group who can keep up and even manage to pull the match to their advantage sometimes.“Rhys is using his Wolf.” I hear Raya say through the mind-link and Captain Miles walks in their direction. I am not going to get caught in the middle of that argument. “I believe that Gamma Meadow explained the rules clearly. Your Shifter half stays out of this sparring session or you would face Myka or Makay.” Captain Miles says. “I wasn’t here when that was explained and my Daughter is unfit to train or to lead a training session. She should find her fated Mate and put Pups into this world.” Rhys counters. “Do you think I care about your opinions?” Captain Miles asks. “I don’t. Meadow is an excellent fighter and she can kick your ass blindfolded. Meadow, I suggest you teach this one the same lesson you taught Makay.” Makay smiles at me as he nods; he wants to see what I did to him from another angle. Almost everyone has stopped sparring; the only ones that don’t seem to care are my friends and their training partners. “Fine, but I hope you understand I won’t be holding back.” Rhys growls. I hope he can keep up with me or this will be a very short training session. The moment the whistle sounds, Rhys lunges at me with an evil smirk on his face. I don’t think about it twice; I am stronger than he is and I am going to end this immediately. I slam my fist into the side of his face, connecting with his temporal bone with full force. I hear a satisfying crack and Rhys drops to the ground, unconscious.Everyone stares at me as Doc rushes over to check on Rhys. “He will live. His pride will be broken, but other than that, he will be fine.” Doc states after a quick check up.
