Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 65 New Gamma

Grand Valley Territory Winston doubled over in pain when the team observing Gold Moon Pack was cut from the Pack Bond. At first, he thought they had been caught snooping around. It wasn’t until his Beta informed him that they were missing three other members that he realized something had gone wrong in communication. “What the hell did you say to them?” Winston asked his Beta, who repeated what he said to the team leader. Neither saw anything wrong with the instructions, but they didn’t want to take any chances, so they called one of the other team leaders. The Beta repeated his words to the other team leader without explaining why, and that is when they figured out what might have happened. “Can you repeat what he just told you?” Winston asked the male. “That we will use the same form of attack we used last time. I will have to get my team ready because I thought we might need to do another round of surveillance.” The team leader responded. After explaining what just went wrong, Winston dismissed him. “Do you think that he made the same mistake?” The Beta asked, knowing that if anyone were caught alive, it would be a catastrophe. He doubted any of them would be strong enough to withstand an interrogation by the Alpha or Beta, giving up any information they might have. “He did. I am glad we never trusted them enough to give them too much information.” Winston replied. “Make sure every team gets back here and lock this territory down.” By the time the other teams returned to Grand Valley territory, Winston knew he had lost three more members. All three bonds were cut in rapid succession, making him wonder if they had been tortured for information. “For the time being, we will stay in the territory. One of the teams was caught. Most of the members died immediately, but three lived longer. I have to assume that they gave up information. If it is enough for our enemies to come for us, I don’t know. Stay out of sight if you are not on patrol; we still have the element of surprise. Nobody knows that we live here and no one knows how many members we have.” Winston says before dismissing them. Winston walks back to his office with his Beta right behind him. The moment the door closes behind them, Winston finally releases the growl he has been holding back. “Any news from Renegade territory?” He asks his Beta. He isn’t expecting an update, but he needs something to take his mind off the members that he lost. “Major is now living within Gold Moon territory. We couldn’t find out why he chose to go there or who asked him to move to that territory.” His Beta answers.Winston turns his attention to the files on his desk; he desperately needs a Gamma, now more than ever, with a possible threat heading their way. These files are from different Packs that have Gamma families with multiple Sons and he hopes that he can find one of them willing to become his Gamma. Most of them aren’t interesting enough for Winston, but he had found two files that piqued his interest. “Read through these files. If you agree with me, I want you to set up a meeting on neutral grounds. Preferably on the same day, a few hours apart.” Winston says as he hands the files to his Beta. An hour later, his Beta confirms that the meeting has been set for the following day. They both want to get a Gamma as soon as they can. It will be easier to handle an attack with a Gamma to run training sessions and prepare the members. Winston has a restless night; he still feels as if he is missing a piece of the puzzle. He keeps reviewing the information they got from Renegade territory, but nothing stands out. He leaves his Beta in charge while he drives to the meeting point. It is a small diner in the middle of nowhere. The owner is a family member of one of his Pack-members and has closed up for the day. Both conversations go smoothly and he still hasn’t been able to make up his mind. “I would go with the second guy. His story is similar to most of your members; he will understand their drive for change much better than the other guy.” Winston hears the owner say.He lets the remark run through his head, realizing the owner is correct. His Gamma needs to understand the members; he needs to have some sort of connection to them and with a similar background, that will be accomplished more easily. “Thank you.” He tells the owner before leaving the diner, texting his Beta to contact their new Gamma. Winston is convinced that he can get what he has wanted for years and with a Gamma, he has gotten one step closer to completing his goal. He wants to regain control of the Grand Valley Pack, become an Alpha, and capture a special Wolf. He believes the Goddess stole everything from him by pairing his first love with an Alpha. She left him without looking back, even though they had promised each other that they would reject their fated Mates and become chosen Mates. Meilani was supposed to be his second chance at the Alpha position, but her Brother had intervened. If only Winston had taken the time to research special Wolves or read all the reports on Major in more detail. He could have saved himself a lot of trouble because all the answers he needed are in those reports. Will he trust his new Gamma enough to let him read those reports? He might just be the one to point out everything that Winston has overlooked and maybe he is just as stupid as the rest of them. Too blinded by their own greed to see what is right in front of them. Too eager to get what doesn’t belong to them, to hear the bullshit that someone has been selling them. While Winston prepares for his new Gamma to arrive, Gold Moon Pack is in for a special treat.
