Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 59 Need It

Meadow’s p.o.v. I hand the journal to Uncle Major; I will read it later, as I have more important things to do right now. “Maryan, you’re with me. Let’s get some answers from these Assholes.” I growl as I walk out of the Alpha floor. I can hear voices from behind me, but I pay them no heed. My mission is down in the dungeons and I will obtain the answers I want, no matter what. “Meadow, you can’t go down there.” Alpha Lincoln says as he stops at the top of the stairs. “Why not? They are after me; they have attacked multiple Packs to find me and still, they failed. I want answers and I will get them. By the time I'm done, I'll know where the Coward is hiding.” I respond as I keep walking down the stairs. No one has to tell me that the others are following me down the stairs; I can hear their footfalls on the stairs behind me. I see that Calista is waiting for me down in the hallway, glaring to her left every now and then. “If that Bitch opens her mouth one more time, I am going to commit murder.” Calista growls through our mind-link and it is then that I see Stella in the living room. “Rufus, calm down. Just because River decided to leave Gold Moon territory doesn’t mean that you and Rory can’t take over the Pack. You’ll just have to find another Beta.” Stella says as I step into the doorway.“Who are you?” Stella asks the moment she sees me, but she doesn’t fool me. She knows who I am or at least who I was to Rufus. “That would be my baby Sister.” River says as he steps next to me. “When you don’t show up when you were told to, that is what happens. You miss very important information.” Rebel smirks when she sees our former Mate pale; he finally figured out what he tossed aside for Stella. “You are lying; she is a nobody.” Stella responds. “Her family abandoned her; even her Mate didn’t want her.” The moment the words leave her mouth, she realizes her mistake, but there is nothing she can do to correct it. “What are you talking about, Stella? Who was Meadow’s Mate?” River asks as he takes a step forward, his Wolf growling. Stella shakes her head, unwilling to answer his question and no one considers asking me. “Stella is kidding, Son. We all saw Rufus the night he claimed Stella as his Mate; he wouldn’t have been able to keep his Wolf from calling out to their Mate.” Rhys says and River lets his Wolf push forward, releasing a mighty roar. Suddenly, I see someone pushing past River. It takes me a second to realize that it is Myka; he has his hand around Rufus’ throat as he pushes him up against the wall. “You were her Mate and you chose to ignore the Goddess’ pairing. You are a damn Moron for tossing her aside, you will come to regret this one day.” Thyrius growls in his face. Before Rufus or Myka can do or say anything, Makay slams his fist into Rufus’ abdomen. Myka keeps him in place against the wall while Makay punches Rufus a few more times. “That is enough, Makay. You don’t need to kill him; he will regret his decision today. Rufus, for taking a chosen Mate, you will no longer be considered for the Gamma position.” Alpha Lincoln says. “Alpha Lincoln, Rufus can still claim my Daugther as his….” Rhys doesn’t get a chance to finish his sentence; Rebel has pushed forward and we have him up against a tree in seconds. “I AM NOT YOUR DAUGHTER; YOU LOST THAT RIGHT A LONG TIME AGO.” Rebel roars in his face. “WE WILL NEVER ACCEPT RUFUS AS OUR MATE. HE CHOSE HER AND SHE CAN HAVE HIM.” Rebel retreats to the back of my mind, done with the Idiot in front of us. I drop him unceremoniously on the ground before I walk back into the Pack-house. “Rhys, I’ve banned you from the Pack-house. Could you please explain what you're doing here?” Luna Leona asks. “I am outside, Luna. I am not breaking any rules.” Rhys answers with a smirk on his face. Technically, he is right. He wasn’t in the Pack-house; he was standing on the patio. I wouldn’t have thought of coming anywhere near the Pack-house if the Luna had banned me, but that's just me. “Calista, did you get me that information?” I ask as I turn my back on Rhys and she hands me a tablet.“Maryan, did you get my toolbag?” I ask and a second later, it is in my hand. My team follows me as I head down to the dungeons; they know what to expect. This isn’t my first interrogation, but I doubt anyone else knows what I am capable of. This is going to be one bloody mess; some might say that I enjoy this too much. “Meadow, you can’t go down there.” Alpha Lincoln says yet again. He still hasn’t told me why not, I doubt he would have a satisfying answer for me. So I keeping walking down the winding stairs into the dungeons. “Meadow, this isn’t a place for a young girl.” Beta Lennox says and I stop dead in my tracks, turning on my heel. “Why is that, Beta Lennox? I work for the Elders. Do you think they shield me from this type of task?” I ask him. I keep looking at him while he thinks about what I said, an uncertain look in his eyes. “This isn’t my first rodeo, Beta Lennox. I am capable of more than you think, of more than you can imagine. Those Rogues are mine to question and anyone who tries to stop me will have to deal with Rebel.” I answer the questions for him. I don’t wait for anyone to respond; I walk deeper into the dungeons. The smell of blood, urine, and other rotting substances grows stronger the deeper we delve into the dungeons. As I suspected, there are Warriors stationed near the cells where the Rogues were placed, each prisoner in a cell of their own and a few doors apart. No form of communication, no sunlight.Just four stone walls with a door somewhere in the middle, not even a mattress to sleep on. After all, they won’t be in there long enough to need it.
