Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 58 Dealing With

Meadow’s p.o.v. I am staring after the male that was supposed to be my Father; he thought he could prove that I was an imposter. If only he knew how funny Rebel believes that thought is, he would probably hate the fact that I am a Lycan. “Maybe we can convince him that we are a Lynx.” Rebel says in my head and I shake my head at her. If I could choose my Shifter half, I would still choose Rebel, but a Bear would be my next choice. Apparently, my thoughts were very visible on my face when I hear Uncle Major ask, “What is so funny, Sweetheart?” I tell them what Rebel and I had been discussing, causing Uncle Major to laugh. Makay looks at me as if I had gone insane, but his parents seem to like the idea. “Found it.” I hear Myka say from behind me and I jump in his arms as I grab the journal out of his hand. “Thank you, Myka. Thank you, Thyrius.” I say as I wrap my arms around his neck. He holds me in his arms as he walks further into the living room and places me next to him on a couch. “You are very welcome. I hope this will answer any question you might have.” Myka says as Luna Leona asks if anyone wants coffee. I don’t think she expected everyone to raise their hand, though. “Myka, if you had to choose a different type of Shifter half, what would you choose?” I ask him. “I would still choose Thyrius, but if that weren’t an option, then I would go for a Lycan. I have seen how brutal they can be and they are very agile when running through the forest.” Myka answers me after he has thought about my question. While we are enjoying our coffee, everyone chooses their preferred Shifter. It takes me threatening Makay before he was willing to answer the question. Like Myka, he chooses a Lycan. His reasoning for his choice is Rebel. “I have seen Rebel run around Renegade territory, I have seen Rebel on the training grounds and even though Blade knows I wouldn’t trade him for anything in the world, if I had to choose, it would be a Lycan.” Makay explains. “Hold on, you are a Lycan?” River asks, making me realize that we've never discussed that topic. “Like I said, Meadow looks like her Grandmother. Your Mother was also a Lycan and that is why Rhys had hoped that you would be a Lycan, River. He never expected his unwanted Daughter to be a Lycan.” Uncle Major answers him. “That man is nuts. I would still love my Daughter if she were a penguin.” Beta Lilith mumbles and for a moment, it is deadly quiet in the room. Until we all burst into laughter because she can no longer hold a straight face. I don’t want to be rude, but damn I want to read that journal. However, I feel that I was asked to come here for more than one reason and this journal will provide many of the answers.“Makay connected the dots; he is convinced that the Rogues are after you. One of the Rogues we captured is a Mountain Lion and he was aiming for one of our female Warriors, but he didn’t get close enough to test his theory.” Beta Lennox says. Rebel and I had kept it in the back of our mind that this might be the case, but there was nothing that connected me or my family to the case. “Do the Elders know about our bloodline, Uncle Major?” I ask him, if they knew I am going to kick some ass up in Renegade territory. “They might have suspected, but I never confirmed it. My Sister was safe or so I thought and no one knew about your existence. Arion and I couldn’t deal with the death of our Sister and by staying in Lycan form, no one bothered me. Until you came along.” Uncle Major replies. I never had a good relationship with my Brother, so I can’t really understand his motivation. I do know that he thought that I was safe within Gold Moon Pack, but what triggered the attacks? “Do you think, Uncle Major getting back out there, could have been the trigger?” Rebel asks me. “The attacks did start after Uncle Major left for Gold Moon Pack. What if someone had kept an eye out for Uncle Major all these years?” I respond. It seems that with each question we can answer, another question pops up. This is not good for my sleep; I will be tossing and turning all night and still have no answers by morning. “Do you know who is after me, Uncle Major?” I finally ask, not really wanting to find out if he might have an idea. “Yes, Sweetheart. I know who is after you; he failed to get his hands on your Mother. Thanks to Elder Morton.” He answers. Rebel growls at the mention of that Idiot’s name. “Elder Morton wasn’t always an ass, but he was getting too old for the job. He took your Mother to many different Packs to find her Mate and when he returned without her, I was relieved.” Uncle Major says. Lilith has given me a refill on my coffee and I wait for Uncle Major to continue his story. “His name is Winston Daystone, the second Son of the former Beta of Winter Stone Pack. He was pursuing your Mother ever since she turned seventeen, but your Grandmother didn’t trust him. She contacted me for help and on her eighteenth birthday, she realized that Winston wasn’t her fated Mate. When I suggested to her that she could travel with Elder Morton in search of her fated Mate, she accepted without hesitation. She wanted to be with her fated Mate and would have never chosen Winston.” Uncle Major says. “Winston showed up again the next morning, but your Mother had already left with Elder Morton. He kept coming to Renegade territory to ask about her whereabouts, but no one ever told him.” Uncle Major. I link Calista to find everything she can on Winston and his family. I want to know who I am dealing with.
