Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 48 His Target

Somewhere deep inside a forest “Boss, are you sure about this? We have been looking for months and still have nothing to show for it.” A male asks. “Yes, she had two Pups and that means at least one female. Even if that Pup is a Wolf, she will get me what I want and I can’t wait to see the look on that Asshole’s face when I have marked her.” Another male answers. He had told this story repeatedly about the female he had loved for years and how her Brother had refused to let him take her as his Mate. One day, she had been gone and no matter what he tried, her Brother had refused to tell him where she went. He spent years searching for her and every other month he would visit her Brother, until one day her Brother also vanished. He didn’t tell his members everything, because they might walk away from this search if they knew that he never loved the female. She was born to a special bloodline, but she didn’t have any abilities and he hoped that he would gain it by having Pups with her. He also twisted the truth on the gender of her Pups; most of the pregnancies in her bloodline had ended with a male being born and they don’t have any ability. “Let’s go over the next Pack on our list; we need to prepare for the next attack. Send out scouts to watch their patrols for the next three weeks, then I want them to return to report on their schedule.” The Boss says. “How often do you want them to observe their patrols?” One of his closest men asks. “Three times should be enough and ensure they keep an eye out for the fastest route to the infirmary.” The Boss answers. He walks over to the window to watch his members listen to the orders he just gave, each of them excited to plan their next attack. An hour later, his second in command walked into his office, a file in his hands and a serious look on his face. “Gold Moon needs a new file; I doubt Alpha Lincoln left Alpha Hank’s patrol schedule intact.” His second in command says. Great, a new challenge for him to deal with. As if he didn’t have enough trouble already, he had lost a few members during the attacks on Packs and traveling Pack-members and now this. “Fine, send a new team of scouts out there and give them the same order as earlier.” The Boss says, irritated. He lost most of his members at Black Valley Pack and with Alpha Lincoln leading Gold Moon, going there could cost him even more members. It didn’t bother him that not all his members would survive this search; he just hated losing. “Any idea why he came out of hiding now?” His second in command asks, he doubted the Boss would know why and he wasn’t expecting an answer from him. He just wanted to hear if the Boss had even thought about a reason or that he just thought that he was lucky. “Not really, only speculations. We know that she was last seen at Renegade territory and that she died shortly after arriving there, but no one knows where she came from or how she died. Maybe he wanted to go back to work or to find whoever was responsible for her death, if someone is responsible for her death. Who knows why he came out of hiding? All I know is that I want him to pay for what he took from me and the only way to do that is to find out if he has a Niece.” The Boss answers. Only the two of them know the truth and they always make sure to keep their conversations behind closed doors. “What if he knows that you figured out there might be one last chance for you out there to get what you have been after for years?” The second in command asks; it is something that has crossed his mind and he has finally found the courage to ask the Boss about it.The Boss gets furious when he lets that run around in his mind; he didn’t want to think about it and yet he had no other choice. If anyone could figure out that he never gave up his search for that one special Wolf, then it would be him. “It could be, but if that were the case, he would be looking for me. Let’s send someone out there to see what he is up to; better safe than sorry.” The Boss responded. In all the years he had been looking for the one that got away, he also tried to find out what abilities her bloodline was known for. The problem was that not many kept records on any ability for a female in that bloodline, too scared to have their females taken and forcefully marked. All he knows for sure is that there are many abilities for special bloodlines, but nothing specifically for the bloodline he was interested in. If he could choose from all the abilities he found, he knew which ability he would be hoping for. Well, actually, he would hope that his target would have a few abilities. The gift of sense would be a good one, because then he might know what he would walk into. The gift of hearing would also be fine, for just about the same reason. Would he still want his target if she had the gift of hiding her scent? Would he still want her if she had the gift of speed? He had thought about the abilities he didn’t want her to have, but he hadn’t been able to determine if he would kill her if she had an ability he couldn’t use for his gain. He had his members divided into five teams; one team would always stay with him. The other four teams were sent out there to gather information or to attack a Pack to eliminate them as the hiding place of his target. He wants to find his target and still has many Packs to search. If it hadn’t been for his second in command, then he would still be going about this in the wrong way. Now they sent in one or two members to search the infirmary for information on a Gamma Lycan, but so far, nothing turned up.
