Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 46 Change Something

Meadow’s p.o.v. We have found a few special bloodlines, but the problem is finding out where they are at the moment and that is a direct answer to one of our questions. Why attack so many Packs? If you can’t find someone, you will have to start traveling, asking questions wherever you go and that is what we are doing at the moment. Captain Miles gave me five more team members, but we selected them together. Each of them the best Warriors we have with years of experience, more than willing to take orders from a female and males that I actually trust. Four bloodlines with their origin spread throughout our Kingdom, we will travel to the Pack of their origin first and then we head to the Pack that had the last known member of that bloodline. We might return empty-handed after traveling to every Pack on our list and there is a chance that we might find answers along the way. Our first stop is also the last stop on that bloodline, the last Shifter from that bloodline had died over fifteen years ago within the territory. She had returned there with the knowledge of her imminent death and she wanted to be buried with her ancestors. Maryan is talking to the Alpha, recording everything he knows about that bloodline for the Elders and hopefully getting some answers in the process. “There were no gifted Shifters in that bloodline.” Maryan informs all of us through the mind-link. Three more bloodlines to find and I hope that none of them are a dead end, because if they are, then I don’t know what those Rogues are looking for. R: How are you doing? A message from River.M: Fine, on assignment at the moment. How are things there? I send back. We have been sending messages back and forth ever since Uncle Major moved to Gold Moon Pack and River is happy to get to know Uncle Major, but most of all, he is happy to get a chance at a relationship with me. R: Same as every other time. Dad tries to get me to move back, Alpha Lincoln tells him No and I just ignore him. M: I doubt he will ever give up. Any luck on finding your fated Mate? River had gone to Black Valley Pack with Beta Lennox for a Full Moon party and he hoped to find his fated Mate there. R: Maybe better to discuss that face to face. Okay, now he has me curious and I tell Calista to pull over. I don’t have the patience to wait for the privacy of a room and I know my team members won’t say a word.I press the call button the moment I step out of the SUV and a second later I am looking at my Brother’s smiling face, “Asshole.” I mumble at the sight of that smile. “Why did you have to act as if something disastrous had happened?” I ask him. “Well, that depends on what you might call disastrous.” River answers and my jaw drops when I see another person come into view. “Not on my end, but I can think of one person that might have a problem with it.” I reply as I let this settle in my mind. “Hello, Meadow. How is your hunt going?” Misha asks. Yeah, didn’t see that one coming, but then again I haven’t had a real relationship with my Brother. If the Goddess pairs us with the Shifter that is best suited for us, then why are there Shifters that are against same sex couples? “Still going. On the road at the moment, no idea how long this might take. If you’re lucky, I might swing by on the way back or should I head for Black Valley Pack by then?” I ask. “Black Valley Pack. I am here to pack my stuff and get the hell out. We leave after dinner and we will leave a pissed off Dad behind.” River says and I have a pretty good idea how they are going to do that. “Ask Uncle Major to tape it and to send it to me. I would like to see the look on his face, when he realizes who your fated Mate is and not just because your Mate is a male.” I reply. My Father is going to hate both facts of this Mate-bond, but I am happy for River and Misha. We continue with some small talk, before I tell them that I have to get back on the road. After disconnecting the call, I get back in the SUV and I close my eyes for a moment as the SUV starts moving. “Who is your Brother’s Mate?” Calista asks after a few minutes of silence. “The future Beta of Black Valley Pack, Misha.” I respond and I hear her whistle at my answer. “Our Father is not going to like that for more than one reason. I don’t care about it and neither does Misha’s family.” Damn, that means spending the holidays with Makay and I let a growl escape my lips at that thought. “Figured out who your new favorite family member is?” Calista asks with laughter in her voice, she knows that I will never sugarcoat anything when it concerns Makay. I wouldn’t call him a friend, but I can get along with him without killing him. I like his baby Sister, Marisol, she doesn’t take crap from anyone and the same goes for his Mother Lilith. The only one in that family I haven’t met yet is Myka and he is the one that found out the truth about me. Might make for an interesting holiday visit, if I am able to go home for the holidays. Depends on the assignments our Squad gets or if this assignment has been resolved, but my job will always come first. Uncle Major understands that better than anyone, his job always came for family and he feels that it is why he didn’t realize what was going on with his Sister. I doubt him visiting Gold Moon would have changed something for my parents, it might have changed something for me and River though.
