Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate
Renegade territory Three months have passed since Makay returned to Gold Moon Pack and according to the information that Meadow has gotten from her Uncle, nothing has changed. At least not about Makay and his reluctance to accept a fighting female with a Mate, his relationship with his Brother is a different story. Meadow is staring at the map that is currently mounted on the living room wall in the Squad house, she is trying to make sense of the recent attacks by Rogues. Red pins on the map show attacks on a Pack, orange pins for attacks on traveling groups. None of it is making sense to anyone and Captain Miles hoped that with the map in the living room, his Squad could come up with ideas together. “Does anyone know who was involved with the attacks?” Meadow asks as her eyes keep moving from left to right. “What do you mean? Rogues were involved.” Someone says from the back of the room. “Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Warrior. That is what I am talking about, maybe we can find a pattern by looking at it from the inside.” Meadow says. Maryan takes four pins in different colors; blue for Alpha, yellow for Beta, green for Gamma and white for other ranks. Calista is handing out files for Squad members to read and one after the other calls out the ranks that were involved with the attacks. Captain Miles is looking at his Squad members who are working on this case as one team, everyone is invested in this case for their own reason and each of them wants to find answers. Elder Chelsea had seen something in Meadow that had eluded him at first, but he had kept an eye on her as requested and little by little he had seen what Elder Chelsea had seen. Meadow was capable of more than anyone gave her credit for, including herself. She was a smart female Beta, she was a better Warrior than most males he knew and her interests were diverse. With Meadow in mind, he came up with an all-female team, a team that could handle situations a male team or a mixed team would fail at, and Meadow had proven that his idea was solid. “Meadow, will this help us figure out what is happening?” A Squad member asks and Captain Miles gets pulled from his thoughts. “It might help us understand what they are after or maybe who they are after. Rogues usually attack for one reason: to do bodily harm in one way or another, but they vanished as quickly as they appeared in these attacks. Why?” Meadow asks. Looking at the map, numerous pins are connected to the attacks, most of which seem to be yellow and white. “Looks as if they are looking for a Beta.” Captain Miles states, but Meadow is shaking her head.“There is an equal amount of yellow and green pins, which would mean that a Beta or a Gamma has their interest. Now we need to figure out the why and that might prove to be a bit more difficult.” Meadow responds. For a while, it is silent in the living room and Captain Miles takes the time to count each yellow pin and each green pin. Only to come to the realization that Meadow is correct, the amount of pins in both colors is the same. “Could a special bloodline be the reason?” Calista asks and Meadow writes it on the whiteboard next to her. “Maybe they are looking for a missing person?” A Squad member calls out. “What about the perfect victim for a ransom?” Another Squad member asks. Meadow writes down every motive they can come up with, hoping to narrow it down with some investigation. “Did something go missing during the attacks on a Pack?” Maryan asks. Again, the Squad members pick up the files to go through them and in every case someone had managed to get into the infirmary. No files were taken, but the filing cabinets had been tossed, as if they had been looking for a certain file. “Send out a message to every Pack, I want to know if there has ever been an incident involving the infirmary. No matter how small it might seem, I want to know about it.” Meadow orders and not one Squad member is questioning her order. Meadow has proven her worth to all of them, she might be seventeen, but she sees and understands more than most of them. “Any thoughts?” Captain Miles asks as he walks over to Meadow, he knows that her brain is on to something and it might take her a few hours or days to catch up. “I might understand it when I have more information, at the moment I get stuck between a special bloodline and a missing person.” Meadow responds, but she never takes her eyes off the whiteboard. Instead of sending out messages, every Squad member has grabbed their phones to contact a Pack. Explaining to the Elder that resides in those Packs why they are calling and each Elder promises to get back to them as fast as possible with the information. Maryan calls Elder Major to inform him and gets the required information immediately. Gold Moon Pack keeps all their paper files in the Pack-house and anyone can access medical files on the computer, but only with a personal password. An extra whiteboard gets placed in the living room for the additional information and Maryan is the first to put it to use. It takes two days for all the Elders to call back with the information, but no other Packs had an incident involving their infirmary. Every Elder had looked at the files in the infirmary to see if something was out of place or missing, but they all had come up empty.Without the additional information, they had come to a standstill in their investigation, and that left Meadow with a huge question, was this just the beginning? If it was the beginning, then what was it the beginning of? Would more Packs get attacked? Would the Rogues eventually resort to killing to get what they were after?
