Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 41 Sparring Partners

Myka’s p.o.v. That was a risky and bold move on Makay’s part, but it surprises me even more that Mom accepts it. “Uh Oh, I think Makay is in trouble. Your Mom looks as if she has an ace up her sleeve.” River says through the mind-link and I am starting to believe that River is on to something. “Makay, can I ask you a question?” Elder Major says and Makay turns to look at him. “What do you think will happen if you reject your fated Mate?” Is his next question and Makay is not the only one that is thinking about it. “We will both go through hell if she accepts the rejection, if she doesn’t, then she will feel it if I am sleeping with another female.” Makay answers him and I wonder if he might have forgotten something.“You are partially right, it can cause much pain and both scenarios are correct. However, you forgot about the biggest problem.” Elder Major replies. He allows Makay some time to think about what he might have forgotten, but I think Makay covered the bases. “What about Myka? What will happen with him if you reject your fated Mate?” Elder Major asks and this time Makay isn’t the only one that stares at him. I never thought that Makay rejecting our fated Mate would affect me and from the looks of it, it didn’t occur to anyone else that this might have an effect on anyone other than Makay. “Okay, let me try to explain this. Consider your mate-bond to be a triangle, at one point you have your fated Mate, at another point you have Myka and at the last point you have yourself. If you reject your Mate, that connection between the two of you will disappear and what is left?” Elder Major asks.River has gotten out of his seat and made a triangle on the whiteboard that is near the Luna office, erasing the line between Makay and our Mate. “This is an unstable situation if you ask me.” River mumbles as he looks at the whiteboard. “Yes, it will become unstable and it will force Myka and their Mate to make a decision. If Myka wants to keep his Mate-bond, he will have to break the bond with his twin or he will risk losing his Mate-bond. If Myka wants to keep the bond with his twin, the Mate-bond will be lost to him. When Makay rejects their fated Mate, the bond Myka has with both of them will start to weaken and he will have to make a choice or risk losing both bonds.” Elder Major says. So, no matter how we turn this, I am screwed. Great, now Makay’s behavior will affect me even more than it already did. “What else will happen if Makay rejects his fated Mate?” Magnus asks. Sounds like Magnus picked up on something that the rest of us missed. “There are two scenarios. We will start with Myka breaking the bond with his fated Mate to keep the bond with his twin, that will cause both of them to lose their chance of a true Mate-bond. They won’t be granted a second chance Mate.” Elder Major answers. “I am not going to give up my fated Mate for that Asshat.” Thyrius growls in my head and for a moment I think about what I would rather lose, my Mate or my Brother. “Easy, Makay goes. We will still be related to him and Blade, even if we lose the connection we have now.” Thyrius answers. “The second scenario has a bigger consequence, Makay will lose his Beta position. Myka will keep the Pack stronger with his true Mate-bond and having them share the position will affect the Pack greatly. It will also affect Myka’s Mate-bond if Makay would be living on the Beta floor with them.” Elder Major says. “Of course, it would. She would be faced with a male that rejected her and that would affect anyone.” River responds, but I doubt Elder Major was referring to that. “That isn’t the only issue, she will always feel that a part of her Mate-bond is missing. History has shown the Elders that there is only one way to deal with this if one part of a twin accepts the Mate-bond, the other twin has to move out of the Pack to make her feel less of the void he has left.” Elder Major states. “Occasionally running into one another won’t affect her as much as being faced with him on a daily basis, having Myka with her will eventually help her and her Shifter part to accept the void and move on.” I hear him say. Thyrius isn’t willing to give up his fated Mate for Makay and his stupid ideas, he is ready to rip Makay a second asshole and I am not sure if I would stop him. “Just to make sure that this is clear to everyone, if Makay rejects our fated Mate he can go and live with Madden. Thyrius and I are not willing to give up our true Mate-bond, we will choose our Mate over our Brother if we have to.” I say as I get up. Mom tries to grab my arm, but I managed to evade her, I unlock the door and walk out of the office. Not sure where I am heading, but I need to get out of here and after walking for a while I find myself in the clearing that Meadow used as her personal training field. “You look as if you are ready to kill someone, Myka. Why don’t you spar with us for a while?” Dawson asks and I warn them about the foul mood I’m in. “Don’t worry, they are used to sparring with a pissed off person.” One of the girls says, while they sit down on the grass to watch us. Thyrius is a force to be reckoned with, but he only lends me his speed and strength. He knows I need this before I will take this out on my Brother, I need to lose some of this anger before I head back to the Pack-house. An hour and a half later I drop myself on the ground and place my arms over my eyes as I breathe heavily. I really needed this and I am grateful for my sparring partners.
