Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 32 Broken Trust

Meadow’s p.o.v. Today is the day that I have to face my new Alpha and I walk into Elder Chelsea’s office to see two males standing in front of the window. Both of them are about 6”6 and from the back they almost look identical. If my senses are correct then the male on my right is a Lycan, but the other male doesn't sense like a Wolf or a Lycan to me. I won’t know what kind of Shifter he is and I won’t until I have been able to look into his eyes, something I discovered the first time I met a Bear Shifter. Meadow, why don’t we sit down.?” The male I assume is the Alpha says, as he gestures to the sitting area in Elder Chelsea’s office. “It seems that I am at somewhat of a disadvantage. I have concluded that you must be Alpha Lincoln and that he must be your Beta. The only question I have, is what kind of Shifter are you?” I ask as I look at the male sitting across from me. “Never mind. You are a Bear Shifter and if your height is an indication, I would say that you are a Grizzly. Probably Makay’s Father.” I say, the moment he looks at me. “I am Beta Lennox and you are right. I am a Bear Shifter and your deduction was accurate. I am a grizzly and Makay’s Father.” Beta Lennox says. Both of them stare at me and I lean back in the armchair. I can tell that they are communicating through their mind-link and I can only assume that it has to do with me, with being able to tell what kind of Shifter the Beta is. “Alpha, can you tell me why you are here?” I ask, attracting the attention of both males. “Hold that thought, Alpha. I need you to know one thing before you answer me. I want to finish my training with the Renegades and once I am done, there is a big chance I won’t return to Gold Moon.” I say as I look into Alpha Lincoln’s eyes. I need him to understand that no one will make any decisions for me, but myself. “Why wouldn’t you want to come home? All your friends and family live there.” Beta Lennox asks. I am not sure how to answer him. Am I ready to tell them about my family, but more importantly am I ready to tell them about Rufus? “Meadow, we came here for two reasons. The first reason is that we want to know how Makay is doing. The second reason is that Makay’s twin Brother, Myka, found your file in the archive and it raised a lot of questions for us.” Alpha Lincoln says. “I can give you a very short answer to your first question, Makay is an ass.” I respond. “As for your second reason, you might need to elaborate on that.” Alpha Lincoln hands me my file and there isn't much in there, something that doesn't surprise me. After I have closed the file Alpha Lincoln tells me about the conversation he had with River and now more than ever I want to kick my Father’s ass. They also tell me that my Father destroyed a part of the family file, but it didn’t do him any good. “River feels terrible about what happened, but I have to remind you of the fact that he was only a young pup when your father lied to him. We have known for a little while where you were, but we chose not to inform River. It is your decision whether or not we tell him where you are and whether or not you want a relationship with your brother.” Alpha Lincoln says. I’m grateful he’s willing to let me decide for myself, but I think I need to talk to Uncle Major about what to do. Maybe it is time that I explained to Uncle Major what happened to his Sister, his Nephew and his Niece. I’m just not sure if it will help him recover, it might send them off the deep end again. Maybe I should talk to Elder Chelsea before I talk to Uncle Major and maybe then I will be able to decide to allow River back into my life. “I will keep that in mind, Alpha Lincoln. I don’t like that my Father lied to River, but he could have come to me with questions.” I finally say. “Meadow, can I ask you a question?” Beta Lennox asks. “Go right ahead, Beta Lennox. If I have an answer, I will give it to you.” I reply. “You say that Makay is an ass. Can you explain that in more detail?” Beta Lennox asks. “On the day of his arrival, he showed up late but you already know that. I suspected that he would assume that he could handle all the females in my team, but I made sure that he underestimated us and he ended up in the hospital. I believe you are also aware of that and that I threatened to send him home in a vegetative state if he ever allowed his bear to surface during normal training.” I say and both males chuckle. “Makay is a smart male, he will be a good Beta one day. However, I believe something happened when he was a young Cub and that has altered his perspective of a Mate fighting, especially if it is a female. He doesn’t mind that a female fights, but his demeanor changes when that female is mated.” I explain. “I had seen it during a few of our training sessions with the rest of the Squad and I even discussed it with Captain Miles.” I say, before I hand Beta Lennox the file. Both males are quiet and I think they are trying to recall such an event. I am not sure if they are completely aware of what happened back then, but they might have an idea of where to start looking. “Thank you, Meadow. I believe we need to find out what made him turn on the way he was raised and I hope we can make him change his mind.” Beta Lennox says. “I don’t think there is much more we can do for Makay, but I suggest that we keep him here until a day or two before the Full Moon. You might have some answers by that time or maybe Makay has opened up to us a little bit more.” I say. At that moment we hear a knock on the door, just before it opens wide and Elder Morton walks in. “Alpha, I would appreciate it, if everything we discussed stays between the three of us.” I say as I get up. Elder Morton gives me an angry look, but I don’t give a crap. He broke my trust and he hasn’t done anything to earn it back. “What did you do to Meadow?” Alpha Lincoln asks, or maybe I should say growls.
