Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 33 Uncle Major

Meadow’s p.o.v. “He broke Meadow’s trust. Instead of doing as I had asked, he decided to test her and lost her trust in the process.” Elder Chelsea says as she walks in behind Elder Morton. I still don’t trust Elder Morton, he has done nothing to earn it back and if I am to tell you the truth he has gone out of his way to prove why I should never trust him again. Elder Chelsea and Elder Josiah know what he did after Makay came to Renegade Territory, it was enough for them to ask for a meeting with the King and that meeting will be at the end of the day. “Alpha, I would appreciate it if you and Beta Lennox could accompany me to a meeting with the King. Something happened a few days ago and Elder Chelsea feels that this meeting is necessary, but I could use some moral support.” I say. They look at one another for a moment, before Beta Lennox gets up, “You can count on us.” He says. Elder Morton tries to object to Alpha Lincoln and Beta Lennox being present at the meeting, but Elder Josiah quickly shuts him up by pointing out the rules. If a Pack-member has a meeting with the Elders or the King, they can ask for the presence of their Alpha and/or Beta. I guide Alpha Lincoln and Beta Lennox to our training grounds, seating them in an area where they can see Makay without him seeing them. “Just watch Makay for a while, you will see that our observations are accurate.” I tell them, before I get down to the training fields myself. Makay goes up against a few Squad members who are unmated, both male and female, to show our Alpha and our Beta the change in his demeanor. The moment a mated female steps up to Makay, his posture and facial expression change. He even taunts her occasionally, but it doesn’t bother her. She knows what Makay’s problem is, she just doesn't know where it comes from and that goes for everyone who has come to the same conclusion. “Dad, what are you doing here?” I hear Makay ask and I walk over to them to introduce myself. “Hi, I am Meadow. I am one of Captain Miles’ team leaders and currently also Makay’s team leader. I wish I could tell you that he is making progress, but then I would be lying.” I say as I shake both their hands. “Makay, the meeting with the Elders is in an hour. Why don’t you get showered and changed?” I say to Makay and turn my back on them to give the others some orders. Almost an hour later we walk into the King’s office, the Elders are already waiting for us and I notice that the King isn’t present yet. I have barely taken a seat when the King walks in and we all get up to show our respect for the King. “Elders, this meeting is at the request of Elder Chelsea and Elder Josiah. I have read their complaint and I have a few questions of my own on the matter. The first one I would like to hear from is Makay Voidhunter, Son of Beta Lennox.” The King says. Makay gets out of his seat and walks down to the center of the room, the rest of us just looking at him as an Elder swears him in. “Makay Voidhunter, did you recently have a conversation with Elder Morton about team leader Meadow Sarraveron?” The King asks and I can see the disbelieve on the faces of the other Elders, because this is against the rules of Renegade territory. “Can you tell me what Elder Morton and you talked about?” The King asks after Makay has answered that he had a conversation with Elder Morton about me. “He told me that Meadow hates males and has trouble working with them. I didn’t believe him, because I had already met Meadow and she didn’t treat me differently from anyone else. I was curious as to why he accused her of hating males, so I asked him for the reason.” Makay answers. The King stares at Elder Morton, just like almost every Elder. I hope that he never answered Makay’s question, because I would kill him if he did. “What did Elder Morton answer?” The King asks and the entire room goes quiet, not one of them wants to miss the answer. “Elder Morton told me that her fated Mate had taken a chosen Mate and marked his chosen Mate before rejecting her.” Makay says and I slowly get out of my seat, my eyes locked with Elder Morton’s eyes. Alpha Lincoln steps in front of me and blocks my view of Elder Morton, “He had no right to tell Makay, but killing him isn’t worth it. Let the King deal with Elder Morton, that punishment will be severe enough.” I hear Beta Lennox say. It takes me a few minutes to calm down, but the soft whispered words from Alpha Lincoln help to calm both me and Rebel down. Our Alpha knows how to help his Pack-members and that is one of the reasons why they are allowed to be present during meetings like this one. “Makay, I have a question for you. If the King doesn’t mind.” I hear the voice of Elder Chelsea, while I am still focused on Alpha Lincoln. “Did Elder Morton tell you the name of her fated Mate?” Elder Chelsea asks, but I doubt that Makay has heard a word of what has been said. “I thought he was kidding, you are too young to find your fated Mate and therefore I didn’t believe him.” Makay mumbles. “Son, did he tell you the name of her fated Mate?” I hear Beta Lennox ask as he steps in front of his Son. “Rufus, he said his name was Rufus. Was he talking about Gold Moon’s future Gamma?” Makay mumbles, having trouble getting to terms with what he knows in his mind to be true. I feel arms wrapping around me as Rebel tries to push forward, but the voice in my ear stops both of us dead in our tracks. “He will be dealt with, Princess. I will always be here when you need me, like I should have been all these years.” Uncle Major whispers.
