Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate
Meadow’s p.o.v. I watch Makay as he is sparring with Calista and despite her beating the crap out of him, Blade stays out of it. He underestimated all of us and Calista is the one he hadn’t been up against yet. Rebel is as confused as I am, because Makay was sent here for agreeing with a female not training or fighting. Yet, he compliments each of us when he has gone up against us and that doesn’t make sense. “Something on your mind, Meadow?” Captain Miles asks as he steps next to me. “Yeah, but not something I want to discuss out here or right this minute. I need you to keep an eye on Makay during training with the entire Squad, after that we can talk in a day or two.” I whisper, my eyes never leaving Makay and my team. It has been a week since Makay arrived here and even though he has a slight issue with answering to a female, he isn’t a complete jerk. He is smart enough to ask a lot of the right questions, he even went through the cold cases without complaining. The girls had a bet on how fast he would abandon the cold cases, but they had all lost. Makay had asked if he could take the files from the library and after getting permission he would take a file with him to read during and after dinner or before falling asleep. He has returned each file that he was finished with and each file had sticky notes with questions. Some of those questions were easy to answer and others needed a little more digging on our end, but we weren’t able to solve any of them. Not that we had expected to solve these cases, they are decades or centuries old. We are halfway through Makay’s second week when Captain Miles calls me to his office and I hope that he can confirm my suspicions.I get handed a file the moment I walk into Captain Miles’ office and without saying a word I walk over to the sitting area. I read every page in the file and it seems that we have figured out what Makay’s problem is. How to fix it is a different question and I am not sure that we can even fix it. “That is what you were hoping for, isn’t it?” Captain Miles asks. “Yeah, it is or I was at least expecting it. His Alpha and his parents need to fix this, I doubt we will be able to hand Makay a solution to his problem.” I answer Captain Miles. “Discuss this with Elder Chelsea, she needed to see you anyway.” He says before he dismisses me and I take the file with me as I walk out of building A to the Elders Residence. Elder Morton and Elder Josiah are out front and I greet both of them in passing, but Elder Morton has to be his annoying self again.“Meadow, when will you stop holding on to the past?” He asks, a question he asks me almost every time we run into one another and like always I ignore his question. I knock on the open door of Elder Chelsea’s office and step inside while she ends her phone call. She gets up to close the door and then she walks over to her sitting area. “Any news on Makay?” She asks and I hand her the file from Captain Miles. “We both have come to the same conclusion and we aren’t the ones to help him fix this.” I respond as I sit down. The office is quiet while Elder Chelsea reads the file and once she is done, she places it on the coffee table. I can almost hear the wheels turning in her head, she is trying to find a way for us to fix this issue. “You’re right, this isn’t our problem to fix. Tomorrow Alpha Lincoln will pay us a visit, he wants to know how Makay is doing and he has something else to discuss with you.” Elder Chelsea says as she leans back in her seat. “Yes, Meadow. He specifically asked for you, I think he is on to something and you know that we can’t stop him if he orders you to return home. You are still underaged and his responsibility.” She says. “I am going to see Uncle Major, I need some time to myself.” I say as I get up and walk out of her office. Rebel takes off to Uncle Major’s territory the second we have shifted and Arion is already waiting for us near the tree where we always meet. This time Rebel crosses the so-called border and Arion guides us to a small stream that runs through his little territory. Both of them lie down in the shadow of a tree and for once in my life I feel safe and wanted. I tell Uncle Major through the mind-link about my conversation with Elder Chelsea and then about my conversation with Captain Miles. He listens to everything I tell him and when he thinks he has something useful to say he does, but other than that he just lets me talk. He seems to understand that I hate it when someone interrupts me while they have nothing useful to add. I even tell him about Elder Morton and Arion growls softly. They don’t like what Elder Morton does and I believe there is some bad blood between the two of them, but neither one of them has said anything about it. Uncle Major did tell me a while back, that it was thanks to Elder Chelsea and Elder Josiah that he was allowed to stay in his little territory within the only territory he ever considered home. “It is time for us to leave, Uncle Major and Uncle Arion. Dinner will be served in an hour and I want to take a shower before dinner. See you soon, Love you.” I say, while Rebel slowly gets up. Arion rubs his head against Rebel’s head, before he steps back to let us pass and we look at them over our shoulder before running back to building A.After a quick shower, I grab something to eat and for once I am the first one to turn in for the night. Off to Dreamland before my head hits the pillow.
