Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate
Meadow’s p.o.v. I knew something was off and now I have confirmation that Alpha Rolf hadn’t told us the truth. I clear my throat to alert them to their visitors and Andrew pushes Janey behind him as he growls at me, I know this is just instinct and I won’t hold it against him. “I am not here to harm you or to force either of you to return to Blood Moon Pack. “ I say with my hands raised. “The Elders received a request for help, but not many were interested in answering questions from the Elders.” Andrew has a small smile on his face, while Janey steps beside him, her hand on his lower back. “Andrew is my fated Mate, but Dad doesn’t think that he is good enough to be an Alpha. Dad wants me to take a chosen Mate, the Son of his best friend, an Alpha’s Son with no chance of becoming an Alpha without the right Mate.” Janey says. I understand that her Father wanted to use his Daughter for some political gain, but never took her feelings into consideration. Too bad that Alpha Rolf never bothered to learn everything about our laws, he is going to be in for a huge surprise before I am done. “Do you want to lead Blood Moon Pack?” I ask, while looking at Janey. “You are the rightful heir to the Alpha title and no one can take that away from you.” I look at Janey as she tries to answer my question, but I can already see that she won’t be able to answer me. At least not with the truth and the reason she isn’t giving me her ordered answer, is because I asked the question differently. “Let’s get them back to Renegade territory, we need the King to break the Alpha order that Janey is under. Maryan, call Elder Chelsea the moment we get back to the SUV.” I say and Janey sighs in relief.“How did you find us? Our scents must be gone by now, it has been over a week.” Andrew asks and I turn to Makay, allowing him to answer the question. “I am a Bear and I can smell a scent that is almost two weeks old.” He says with a smug look on his face and I have the urge to smack him on the back of his head. Instead I shove him back toward the passageway, I will leave Maryan and Calista to help Andrew and Janey. The rest of my team follows me through the passageway and I hear Makay mumble as we move through the narrow part, his huge frame scraping along the walls. “Stop being a smug Idiot. Blade might have the better nose, but without him you are nothing. You and Blade are one and you better start to remember that before he leaves you hanging one day.” I say, before I shove him out of my way and walk to the SUV. “Looks like Makay is in an argument with Blade, it is funny to see his eye color change. Dang, I wish I could listen in on that conversation.” Raya says through the mind-link. Rebel likes the idea of Blade chewing Makay’s head off, she can be a bit blood thirsty from time to time and this happens to be one of them. “Why are we going to see the King?” Makay asks, about halfway through the trip. “We are not going to see the King, Elder Josiah will take Janey and Andrew to see the King and he will be able to break the Alpha order Janey was given by her Father.” I tell Makay. Elder Josiah is already waiting for us when we get back to Renegade and he guides Andrew and Janey to another SUV that is going to take them to the Palace. “What will happen with Andrew and Janey?” Makay asks and I point to a chair on the other side of my desk, waiting for Captain Miles to join us. “The King will break the Alpha order that Janey got and then she can tell the King what she wants. Either she chooses to take the title or she chooses to give it to Andrew, but whatever she decides to do, her Father will be forced to step down.” I tell Makay after Captain Miles has taken a seat. “There are a lot of things that can determine if someone gets the position that is their birthright, but giving an Alpha order to your Daughter to hand over the title to an outsider is against the law.” Captain Miles states. “Yeah, if Janey never wanted the title there was just one little thing her Father had to do. He should have taken her to the King and after Janey had told the King she didn’t want the title, her Father could have given it to anyone.” I add. Makay seems to be quiet for a few moments, before he looks at me again. “Can the Son of an Alpha that got killed by another Alpha take over that Pack?” Makay asks and both Captain Miles and I shake our heads. “Not even if the new Alpha wants to hand it over to him?” Makay asks his next question and I think I have an idea where he is going. “No, once an Alpha has killed another Alpha that territory belongs to him. Unless the Elders agree that the death of challenge was unfair in any way, then the Son of the former Alpha can become the new Alpha. However, if the kill was justified then the new Alpha’s second Son takes over that title.” I answer him. Alpha Lincoln killed Rory’s Father, but Rory can never become the Alpha of Gold Moon. At least not as long as Alpha Lincoln still has an heir left. Which means that Makay will become the Beta of Gold Moon when the current leadership steps down, meaning that our Beta bloodline will stop existing. It also means that the one thing that Stella was hoping for would not become hers, she wouldn’t become the Gamma female of Gold Moon and I wouldn’t have to play nice to her if I ever went home.
