Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate
Myka’s p.o.v. Thyrius is convinced that something is up with Meadow, but I haven’t seen anything unusual. She has been busy training Amila with our help all morning and during lunch, she wasn’t acting differently from usual. I did keep a close eye on her because of Thyrius’ conviction, but I think he is seeing something that isn’t there. “There is something off with her and when it turns out that I am right, I am going to annoy the hell out of you.” Thyrius says as he turns his back on me. I decide to focus on Thyrius’ hunch after this match is over, because at the moment, there is nothing I can do about it. I chuckle as Caldwell collides with the ground and give Amila a thumbs-up in encouragement. “Nice, Amila.” I hear a few of the Omegas call out and a growl comes from Caldwell as he gets on his feet. “What? You said there wasn’t an Omega in the territory who could give you a run for your money.” Amila calls out as she watches Caldwell get in position again. It is so damn obvious that he is going to aim for her legs that it is almost laughable. He rushes towards her and dives toward her knees to take her down, but Amila sees it coming. She makes a front aerial and lands behind him as he is kissing the ground, once again. Caldwell makes the biggest mistake you can make in a fight and he allows his anger to take over. Making it nearly impossible for him to think clearly about how to defeat Amila and making this an easy win for her, if she manages to follow the lessons Meadow taught her. Thyrius has decided to watch the match and he cheers in my head every time Amila avoids a collision or manages to punch the Idiot. He whimpers if Caldwell does manage to connect with Amila’s body, which isn’t often. “Caldwell, watch it. Keep your Lycan in check or you answer to me.” Makay says and Thyrius pushes forward to show how disappointed he is in Caldwell. “Is your Lycan upset that his Human is getting his ass kicked by an Omega?” Amila asks as she punches him in the ribs. “Was he that upset with you when you rejected me?” Caldwell stops dead in his tracks and the crowd erupts in whispers and mumbles. None of them agrees with Caldwell rejecting his fated Mate. Silent Crest Pack is known for accepting their fated Mate, no matter their rank or kind. Amila takes advantage of the arguing that is going on between Caldwell and his Lycan. She lands a blow to his jaw and a quick one to his abdomen, before she takes a few steps back. Caldwell tries to counter, but he is too angry and distracted to connect with her body. She moves quickly to his side and kicks his legs from supporting his weight. Her foot is on his throat the moment he hits the ground and he is smart enough to tap out. “Don’t ever mistake an Omega for weak again.” Amila says before she spits on him and walks away.“Alpha Gideon, we need to talk.” Meadow says before anyone else can respond. “In private with Caldwell present. I think it is time that you learn the truth.” Meadow doesn’t allow anyone to object as she walks past me and grabs my hand to pull me away from the training grounds. Makay joins us as we reach him and we both understand that Meadow needs some time away from the others. A moment to gather her thoughts and to calm herself down. It occurs when she receives too much information or when multiple issues arise simultaneously. “Thyrius is convinced that something is off with our Mate. Has Blade said anything?” I ask Makay as we sit on the forest floor with Meadow between us. Makay and I discuss our Shifter halves' behavior, while we let Meadow deal with her thoughts. “Let’s go. I want to get this off my chest and hopefully, Gideon will be able to correct many wrongs within his borders.” Meadow says after half an hour. “Gideon, let me explain.” We hear Caldwell say as we approach the Alpha office. “I told you to shut up. You get to explain once I have the information from Meadow and I hope it is a damn good explanation.” Gideon responds. Meadow doesn’t waste time explaining what we uncovered. The reason for the attacks was an obvious one and it doesn’t surprise Gideon when Meadow confirms his suspicions.“Caldwell told the Omegas to stop training, because you wanted them to focus on their jobs. To make it look as if you had it better than other Packs. No idea what untrained Omegas add to a Pack, but I do know what they can cost a Pack.” Meadow states. She walks over to the map on the wall and points at it as she looks at Gideon over her shoulder. “This is a fake one. Caldwell switched it, while you were too busy with the death of your Father and taking over without complete training. Luckily, you never changed your training methods or you would have been overrun years ago. This is an accurate map of your borders and some of my former team members will stay behind to help you with a new and improved patrol schedule.” Meadow says as she hands him the map Calista and Valentino made. I don’t pay much attention to the conversation between Gideon and Caldwell; my mind is on my Mate, who looks exhausted. Makay pulls her onto his lap and she closes her eyes as she places her head on his shoulder. Thyrius is right, something isn’t right. I have only seen something like this once before in my life and that was a few days before Dad told us we would have a sibling soon. “She is pregnant.” Thyrius and I call out to one another in unison. I ask Makay if he has any idea what might be going on with Meadow, but he has no clue, at least that's what he says. I move a little closer to my Brother, because I have no idea how he will react to the news and I’d rather not see Meadow end up on the floor. “She is pregnant.” I tell him through the mind-link. I expect him to panic, but instead, a huge grin appears on his face and he pulls her a little closer to his chest. “We will manage. One way or the other.” Makay replies and I am glad he isn’t in panic mode or overprotective mode. We will be alright, just as he says.
