Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 184 Loud Thud

Meadow’s p.o.v. I am guiding Amila through her training for this morning, while my former Renegade team is training some of the other Omegas. Amila starts sparring with Magnus because he is an Alpha’s Son and might be able to show her what to look for during her match against Caldwell. “Keep your eyes on his posture, not just his hands.” I call out when I see her making a mistake and she manages to avoid getting struck by his leg. Amila spars for thirty minutes and then we discuss what she did and where she needs to watch herself. We repeat this process for a few hours and then we head back to the Pack-house to take a shower before lunch. “She is going to kick his ass.” Makay says as he sits on the bed to put on his shoes. “He made a huge mistake in rejecting her. Their bond would have been an asset for this Pack.” “We all know that, Makay. So will the rest of Silent Crest Pack by the time this match is over.” Myka responds. “Caldwell might try to back out when he sees who is up against and if he doesn’t, then Amila can use it to get him out of balance.” I don’t like the idea of Amila taunting Caldwell, but Myka made an excellent point when he showed me that Caldwell becomes an even worse fighter when he is angry or upset. Rebel and I never fought dirty; we never needed to. However, it was pointed out to me that our enemies will use whatever they can to beat us and sometimes you have to return the favor. Amila is an Omega and needs to use everything she can to her advantage. “Are the two of you ready? The others are waiting for us.” I ask as I walk past them to the door and I feel two arms slide around my waist as they catch up to me. I have to bite my tongue a few times during lunch because Caldwell is acting like a jerk. Luckily, Gideon is fed up too and tells him to zip it. “Caldwell has been eyeing Amila constantly and not just today. I have noticed him doing it ever since we showed up here, but at least it all makes sense now.” Marley says through the mind-link. I want to facepalm myself for not seeing it or for looking for it after we found out the truth. Most Shifters lose interest in their fated Mate after rejection, but it is different for an Alpha-blooded Shifter and Caldwell is no exception. “Meadow, get your trainee ready. Caldwell, you need to get ready, too.” Gideon says before he guides Renya out of the dining room. I have to stifle a smile as Caldwell follows me out of the dining room, but there isn’t an Omega who follows me. He growls softly when he realizes that he won’t find out who his opponent is until we are on the training grounds. “Who will be his opponent?” “Have you seen any of them train?” “Will any of them be able to put up a decent fight?” These are some of the questions I hear as I walk toward Caldwell and each question makes me smile brighter. All of them are going to be in for a surprise and it won’t be a pleasant one. The Pack-members sit down on the bleachers, while we gather at the main bleacher for the Alpha, Beta and Gamma families. “Caldwell made a challenge about a week ago. Meadow, future Beta female of Gold Moon, accepted the challenge. Meadow believes that an Omega with the proper training can give an Alpha a run for his money. I hope that each of you is as curious about this as I am. I have never forced a Pack-member to train, nor will I start to after today. If anyone makes the decision, based on today, to start training, they are more than welcome.” Gideon says. Rebel points out that Caldwell looks uncomfortable and that most of the Omegas appear to be looking pissed off. They are starting to piece the puzzle together and know that Caldwell had misinformed them. “Someone is going to inform Gideon about Caldwell’s actions. It won’t take long before he knows what the little twit did.” Rebel growls and I chuckle softly at her nickname for Caldwell. She has been referring to him like that for the past few days and it is still funny to me. None of the Omegas has moved, just like we discussed a few days ago. They will wait until Caldwell steps onto the training ground before revealing who he is up against. It is an impressive sight to see the Omegas step aside to allow Amila to walk into the so-called arena and whispers and gasps are heard from the bleachers as she walks toward Caldwell. He is staring at her, his face turning pale and an uncomfortable look in his eyes. “Gideon, this is ridiculous. You need to put a stop to this.” Caldwell says this as he continues to look at Amila. “Why? Are you afraid I might kick your ass, Caldwell?” Amila asks. She knows there is a chance that she can’t defeat him, but she knows that she can do some real damage to him. She is prepared for both and not afraid to get hurt herself. “Caldwell, you made a challenge and you have had enough time to back out of it. This match will take place and I hope you will take a loss as good as a win.” Gideon says. “Meadow, this is your match. I will not interfere with it and neither will anyone else.” I let Myka take the lead on this and it surprises both me and Rebel that neither of our Mates has questioned us so far. The others take their places around the so-called arena to keep an eye on things and step in if there is any indication of foul play or severe injuries. We have no intention of letting anyone get killed or anything else close to it. “Are the rules clear?” Myka asks after explaining everything and both confirm that the rules are clear. Amila watches Caldwell as he takes a fighting stance. She doesn’t take one, as I taught her, it will give him an advantage and she wants to avoid it at all costs. He runs towards her as we all predicted and she side-steps in time to avoid a collision, but not fast enough for Caldwell to avoid getting tripped. He lands face down on the ground with a loud thud and I see some Pack-members covering their smiles.
