Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate
Malek’s p.o.v. It takes us most of the day to find all the answers, but when it is time for dinner, we have all the answers. “Elder Chelsea is almost here. We will discuss everything after dinner on the Alpha floor.” Alpha Lincoln says as we walk into the main dining room. I wonder how close “almost here” might mean, but as I sit down, I get my answer as Elder Chelsea walks into the room. “Alpha Lincoln, it is good to see you again.” She says as she greets him and moments later, dinner gets served. “Has anyone seen Rhys?” Milcah asks through the mind-link, but it looks like he chose to steer clear of the Pack-house since dinner yesterday. “How is the former Beta coping with his vision?” Elder Chelsea asks, looking from Meadow to Milcah and then to Marley, with a smirk on her face. “Not… too well.” Meadow manages to get out as she tries to keep a straight face. She fails as Marley looks at her while blinking her eyes. The girls can hardly look at one another without giggling and Marley has already suggested that she and Milcah dress identically to Meadow to mess with him even more. I get up to grab myself another cup of coffee when I see Rhys sneaking up the stairs. I warn the others through the mind-link before I follow him, while some of the others take the Omega stairwell. “He is heading for the Alpha floor.” I inform the others as he walks further up the stairs. My best guess is that he is going after the journals and he assumes that they are on the Alpha floor after Alpha Lincoln’s request, combined with my remark that she handed them over to Magnus. “What is Rhys doing?” I hear Alpha Lincoln ask as he steps behind me. I take a look at the door and see him slip into the Alpha floor. “He managed to open the door. We need to find out how he got his hands on a key to the Alpha floor.” I mention through the mind-link. I know that Mom and Luna Leona will get a start on this situation and if necessary, we will beat it out of Rhys. The door is ajar and we slowly open it further to follow Rhys further onto the Alpha floor. Rhys is trying to open Alpha Lincoln’s office door, but there is no other key than the one in his pocket. “What do you think you are doing, Rhys?” Alpha Lincoln asks when we see the others approach from the other side. He looks over his shoulder and realizes he has nowhere to run. “I want my journals and I want them now.” Rhys growls, but Lennox, grabbing him by the neck, silences him. Elder Chelsea steps in front of Rhys and I see a flash of fear in his eyes. He is afraid that she knows something that could harm him, but he doesn’t know that his secret is already out. “Rhys Fareye, shut up and sit down. I don’t have patience for your demands and no one will hand you those journals. Not if they contain what I think is written down in them.” Elder Chelsea says. Oh, she definitely knows something about the Alpha and Beta line of this territory. “Why don’t I tell you all what we found in our archives? After that, you can tell me what was written in those journals.” Elder Chelsea states. We all scramble to take a seat, curious as to what the Elders discovered and maybe get an answer or two ourselves. Elder Chelsea tells us about the day Alpha Koa and Luna Keola died and how many questions are still unanswered to this day. Most of the information is known to us, but she surprises us when we find out that Jacan had claimed that Mahina was Jude’s fated Mate. “With her death, it was never proven that she was his fated Mate, nor could we deny the claim he made. It is the main reason why he was allowed to take over as Alpha.” Elder Chelsea says. Rhys is starting to look uncomfortable, but he knows that there is no way out for him at this point. “After you informed us about the contents of Mahina’s journals, we started looking at unsolved cases: cases that involved unsolved deaths and everything alike, anything to find out what happened to Mahina. There is a file on a mysterious fire that killed three Shifters, but we were unable to determine their identities back then. We still don’t know who they were, but the fire happened a few days after Mahina escaped.” Elder Chelsea says. She goes over everything that is in the file and the more she tells us, the more I am convinced that the three Shifters were Mahina and her rescuers. “Now I would like to hear what you discovered in the journals.” Elder Chelsea concludes. “The Bluetails and the Fareyes are related. Reese Fareye was Ilma Bluetail’s fated Mate and he became the Beta after Jacan took over as Alpha.” Meadow says as she keeps looking at Rhys. “We managed to answer many questions we had after discovering the prison on the roof. Ilma was responsible for sending the Warrior and Omega to keep Mahina alive; she knew about her Brother’s plans and tried to warn Koa about it.” Myka states as Marley has gotten our whiteboard. Everyone listens as Marley tells Elder Chelsea about Jacan’s crush on Keola, about how he managed to change his behavior and Keola’s determination to keep her enemy close. “Mahina wasn’t Jude’s fated Mate. Ilma knew that he had rejected his fated Mate, who was a Warrior from a neighboring Pack. He took a chosen Mate to get the Beta position after Jacan would have stepped down, but kept hoping that Mahina was his second chance.” Marley says. We all know that he would have never found his second chance Mate after he marked his chosen Mate. “Reese wanted a Beta position and helped Jacan plan the murders of their Alpha and Luna. Both of them would get what they wanted and with the lie about Jude and Mahina, Jacan was able to take over as Alpha.” Marley concludes. Ilma wrote down every word they planned, because her Brother and her Mate hadn’t thought it through entirely. The room they made into an office wasn’t completely soundproof and she had been able to hear every word they spoke.
