Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 151 No Answer

Mauro’s p.o.v. “Was Alpha Hank’s last name Duveron?” Marley asks and I can see that Alpha Lincoln and Meadow are thinking hard about it. “Nope. I don’t believe he had a foreign surname, but I could be mistaken.” Alpha Lincoln answers after a few minutes. “His surname was Bluetail. Hayden would always call Rory Blueballs or something along those lines, just to piss him off. I don’t remember hearing the name Duveron during our lessons on Pack history.” Meadow says. The door to the Alpha floor opens and slams against the wall with the force it was opened. “Sorry, Alpha. No secret corridors or hidden rooms according to the blueprints. Oh, you found her.” Myka says as he walks into the living room. “Myka, does the surname Duveron ring a bell?” Meadow asks. If anyone knows within this territory, it will be Myka. He closes his eyes as he leans back and pulls Meadow against his chest. Myka has always closed his eyes when trying to remember something and ninety nine out of a hundred times, he would have an answer. “It does, but it is from centuries ago. During one of our visits to the Palace, I spent a few hours in their library. The one that belongs to the Royal family, I mean. One of the King’s ancestors was mated to an Alpha and his surname was Duveron.” Myka says. Oh, damn. This isn’t good and Myka hasn’t even told us much. It is that damn angry look in his eyes that says it all. “All I remember is that his Beta informed the King, at that time, that the Alpha family had died in a fire. I believe they had a small cottage they used to take a break from day to day Pack business and it burned down due to an electrical malfunction.” Myka continues. “Lies. The Beta killed the Alpha and his Mate killed the Luna. Their Daughter was held captive in the structure up on the roof for almost four years. I have no idea what happened to her after she escaped.” Marley replies. She holds up four journals, a locket, and a baby’s dress before placing them on the coffee table. She tells us where she found it and who ensured she received the items. “The dress was a gift from the King and it meant a lot to her. An Omega managed to save it before the Beta family was able to get rid of it, as they had gotten rid of almost everything that could remind anyone of the original Alpha family.” Marley says. Gossom shows me an image that has popped into my mind on and off over the years. A painting that had held my interest for whatever reason. “I remember a painting in the lobby of the Palace. Mom had to drag me away from it multiple times during our visits, because I could stare at it for hours.” I tell them. Malek nods his head, because he was usually with me. Even though he had no interest in the painting, but he wouldn’t let me sit out there by myself. “You are right. It is the dress the baby in the painting was wearing. Her name was Mahina and it was a family portrait, if I remember correctly.” Mom responds. “Joseph, I have a favor to ask. Can you come to Gold Moon Pack?” I hear Alpha Lincoln ask. It doesn’t even surprise me that he made that call; it was the right decision to make. If anyone can give us some more information about Mahina and her parents, it will be King Joseph and he deserves to know what really happened to his ancestor. “Sweetheart, can you prepare a few rooms for Joseph and his family?” Alpha Lincoln asks, but his Mate has already left the room. She knows their family as well as Alpha Lincoln does and knows that King Joseph would never deny a request from Alpha Lincoln. “Meadow, can you ask Captain Miles to prepare for extra security measures?” Dad asks. “King Joseph is coming to the territory and we could use the Squad’s experience.” We help Mom with moving a few things around on the Alpha floor to accommodate everyone. Magnus moves to the Beta floor with Milcah to give the Royal family some extra room and Omegas walk around to clean the unused rooms. “Can I help you, Marley?” I hear Mom ask and I turn around to see her standing in the doorway with a bag in her hands. “I was wondering if I could stay here for a few days. It is getting a bit crowded on the Beta floor and even though I love my family, I have been living in close quarters with them for too long already.” Marley explains. Mom gestures for her to come in and guides her toward the room across the hall from me. “You can stay here, even after King Joseph has returned home.” Mom says as she opens the door and Marley walks into the bedroom to put her stuff away. Layina thanks Mom during dinner for giving Marley a room to stay in, but Mom says that it is what family does. Mom considers everyone in the Beta and Alpha family, her family. “We have more than enough room on the Gamma floor and I could use an ally with my Daughter at Black Valley Pack.” Mom says as she winks at Marley. I know that Mom misses our little Sister and the mischief that girl can get into. Hell, even I miss her now and then. Not that I would ever tell her that; she's annoying enough as it is. We all turn in early after initiating Marley and her family into Gold Moon Pack. I walk into my room to find Malek lying in my bed. Sometimes, we still sleep in the same bed and for once, I don’t mind. I go to the bathroom for my night routine and turn off the light before I crawl into bed for a good night’s sleep. “King Joseph will get some answers and many questions tomorrow. I have one of my own, though. Why did the Beta kill the Alpha and Luna, but not their Daughter?” Malek says as we both get comfortable. It is the same question that has been running through my mind, but I couldn’t find an answer because we are missing some pieces of the puzzle.
