Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 141 The Gate

Mauro’s p.o.v. It took us two days to search the entire Pack-house for evidence and then we helped the Elders to get the Pack-members to accept the leadership changes. Our trip home went a lot faster by SUV, but it still took us two days to get home. We were all excused from training for the rest of the day and I spent it in a deep sleep. Marley and Layina are staying on the Beta floor with Zaphara and Iniko was happy to see his Mother and Daughter again. It was the last thing I saw before retreating to the Gamma floor and I feel well-rested after waking up. “Good morning.” I greet everyone as I walk into the dining room on the Alpha floor. After exchanging greetings with the others, they return to their previous conversations and I sit down after grabbing a cup of coffee for myself. “You were out cold when I checked on you last night.” Mom says and I look at her to see if there is something I need to know. “Just saying, usually you open your eyes when I check on you.” She is right, I usually wake up when someone opens the door to my room. I am not a light sleeper, but it always wakes me up and it doesn’t matter how quiet they try to be. I listen to the conversations around me as I have my breakfast and I smile when Meadow announces that Manyu will be arriving today. We will be waiting for him when he returns with his family from Renegade territory. “How did you sleep, Marley?” Mom asks and I listen as Marley tells her that she was out cold until she woke up this morning. “I think that I have been sleep deprived a little over the years. It is difficult to get a good night’s sleep when you know that someone you love can go through the betrayal pains at any moment.” Marley says. Myka walks into the dining room looking like a ghost and Meadow shakes her head as she gets up to grab him a cup of coffee. “Every piece of information on Manyu and their parents is gone, no family file and no medical file to be found. Rhys has erased them from Gold Moon’s history. Thank the Goddess that he forgot about the Elders and their Archive. Elder Chelsea is going to send a copy of the files they have, but she warned me that Meadow might be in for a few more surprises. Not sure what she meant with that, though.” Myka says after a few minutes of silence. Meadow growls as she sits on Myka’s lap. She has been through enough and doesn’t like that Rhys kept so many things hidden from her and River. “I can’t wait to see the look on Rhys’ face when Manyu shows up. If he makes one wrong remark, I am going to ask Elder Chelsea to find him another Pack to live in.” Mom says and I can’t hide the smirk that appears on my face. Malek is explaining the situation between Meadow and Rhys to Marley and I see her turning her head toward Meadow, her eye color changing rapidly. “Your Bear doesn’t like my sperm donor, does she?” Meadow asks and she immediately explains how she knows. “I was too busy with the assignment that I didn’t take the time to look at Iniko, even though I questioned him about the missing Squad members.” “Yeah, you were glued to your tablet at the time.” Makay replies and ducks out of the way. He knows the strength his Mate possesses and would rather not be at the receiving end of it. We bring our dishes to the kitchen and place everything in the sink before we head down the stairs to find out what we need to do with all the evidence against Alpha Devlin, even though he isn’t the Alpha of Seven Cloud Pack anymore. Rhys is pacing the hall at the bottom of the stairs and I wonder if he has already heard about Manyu coming back to the territory. “What….” He stops talking as he looks up the stairs and sees Meadow, Milcah and Marley walk down. None of them says a word as they pass him, but it is clear that this confuses him to no end. “Is there something you wanted to ask, Rhys?” Mom asks him, while the rest ignore him and make their way into the Alpha office. “I wanted to know what happened at Seven Cloud territory and if I need to take action on protection. After all, Alpha Devlin won’t take this lying down.” Rhys answers. Mom looks over her shoulder at me and I can only shake my head. What is he expecting to hear? “Sorry, Rhys. You are not the Beta or Gamma of this Pack, so you don’t have to worry about that. If only you had cared this much about your family, than everything would have been different.” Mom replies before turning her back on him. I don’t feel sorry for the Asshole. He did this all to himself and he has burned every bridge behind him. Meadow comes walking out of the office and, through the mind-link, informs us that Manyu has arrived at the gate. Like before, she ignores Rhys and opens the front door to wait for the arrival of Manyu and his family. You can see that she is excited to see Manyu again, but she is also aware of Rhys, who is standing behind us and watching as the SUV pulls to a stop in front of the Pack-house. “Uncle Manyu.” She calls out as he gets out of the SUV and runs down the steps to throw her arms around him. We all chuckle because he had to brace himself for impact. After all, she didn’t slow down. “Aunt Alyrah, how was your stay in Renegade territory?” Makay asks as he helps her and the children out of the SUV. Gyan walks off almost immediately and Malek follows him at a little distance, giving the eleven year old boy some space. I am hearing soft growls come from behind me and there is only one person who would like to see Manyu again. “Rhys, cut it out. Manyu will settle here with his family and if you don’t like it, you know where the gate is. Make sure it doesn’t hit you on the way out.” I say as I look at him over my shoulder.
