Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate
Mauro’s p.o.v. “Gather every piece of paper from this table. Are you sure this is all of it, Marley?” Alpha Lincoln asks. “Yes, this is all of it. Some files are decades old, even back to the time his Grandfather ruled this Pack. You will find everything you need to take down the entire Twostriker bloodline. Each family member was involved in one way or another.” Marley answers. I open the first file and glance over the contents to find out that she wasn’t kidding. I grab another file and find a list of family members with their new names and the Packs they live in. Looks like we will have another assignment to deal with, not that I am complaining. It beats running after Dad or Alpha Lincoln each day to listen to some of the entitled women in Gold Moon territory. “I got these from the Head Omega. They look big enough to place all the files in and maybe we can take a look at some other papers to see how the Pack is doing.” Meadow says as she places a few plastic containers with lids on the floor. Alpha Lincoln tells me and Magnus to follow him and we walk back down the stairs before walking out of the Pack-house. “Captain, where are the prisoners?” Alpha Lincoln asks. “I would like to have a word with them.” “They are still in the house, packing their belongings. Of the sixteen Squad members that Seven Cloud managed to capture over the years, seven found their fated Mate here and each of them has children. It will take them a little while to pack everything.” Captain Miles answers. We follow him as he walks around the Pack-house. The so-called prison is located on the opposite side of the Pack-house from Layina’s cottage. Which is a good thing, because with most Warriors concentrated on the prison, Marley could sneak in and out of the Pack-house. “Miles, when are we going home?” A man asks as he places a suitcase on the ground. This must be his Uncle and even though he isn’t wearing a uniform, his Captain’s emblem is sewn onto his clothes. “I am Alpha Lincoln. We will get you all out of here within the next hour. Those SUVs are your ride back to Renegade territory.” Alpha Lincoln says as he points at the nearest vehicles. He explains that the Elders want to debrief them on their years within Seven Cloud territory and ensure that there will be accommodations for them in their birth Pack, if they choose to return there. “I doubt anyone at Gold Moon would be thrilled to see me again.” A man near the door says. We are grateful for our hearing, because a Human wouldn’t have heard what he said. Alpha Lincoln looks at him and waits for the man to explain himself. “My parents died when I was a teenager and my Brother cared more about his title than me. I left the territory after a massive fight with my Brother and our Alpha, both thought that I was more like our Mother and wouldn’t be an asset to the Pack.” The man says. “What is your name? How old were you when you left? And who is your Brother?” Alpha Lincoln asks. A question I’d like to get an answer to as well. I can’t imagine saying something like that to one of my siblings and Gossom growls in my head. “My name is Manyu. I left when I turned eighteen, after shifting on my own and discovering a little family secret. I am a Lycan, but we were raised to believe that both our parents were Wolves. My Brother shifted into a Wolf at eighteen and that tells me that Mom was a Lycan.” Manyu says before he sits down on the steps to the front porch. I linked Myka to find out if there was a file on Manyu, but if there had been one, he didn’t find it. “Did you take your family file with you, Manyu?” I ask after getting information from Myka, but Manyu shakes his head. “I didn’t take the time, nor could I get into the Archive. One of the first changes my Brother made was a locked Archive and our Alpha went along with it.” He answers me. His answer tells us who his Brother is, because we know who made that change and none of us like the Idiot. “I can think of at least one person who will welcome you with open arms, Manyu. As for your Brother, I wouldn’t worry too much about him. Most Pack-members dislike him for what he did in the past and it has nothing to do with you.” Alpha Lincoln states. I gesture for Manyu to follow me and I guide him up to the Alpha floor to introduce him to a family member who will be happy to see her family grow. “Meadow, this is Manyu.” I say as we walk into the office. “He is your Uncle.” Both of them stare at the other for a moment and I step aside when Meadow jumps into his arms. She has changed so much in the last few months; her trust in men has been restored little by little and it shows in this moment. “You’re Rhys’ Daughter. He did find his second chance Mate, something I thought would never happen.” Manyu says as he holds her tight. We all stare at him in confusion. Why would he be saying second chance Mate? “Rhys found his fated Mate on his eighteenth birthday. She was an Omega and he rejected her on the spot. I told him he was an Idiot for rejecting her and that was the start of our arguments over the years.” Manyu answers our unspoken question. “Did she stay in Gold Moon territory after the rejection?” Magnus asks him and he shakes his head. None of us blame her for leaving the territory. I doubt that anyone would want to stay in a territory to see their fated Mate every single day. I know that I would be out of the territory before anyone could blink their eyes. Meadow introduces her Uncle to her Mates and he smiles when he finds out that his Brother has been on the sidelines for a few years now. “If you don’t want to stay in Gold Moon territory, I can ask Madden if he is willing to accept you and your family into Black Valley territory.” Meadow says. “Then you can form a bond with River, your Nephew.” Manyu looks at her and she explains why River is at Black Valley. Like her family, Manyu’s family just grew with a few more members.
