Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 139 False Names

Marley’s p.o.v. I can’t help myself, I keep looking at Milcah as we wait for news on Alpha Devlin. I still can’t believe that Alpha Devlin managed to escape, but I can make sure that every Shifter will be hunting for him. “Milcah, why did you come to Seven Cloud Pack?” Grandma asks her and for a moment she is linking someone. “Your Son told us why he came after me and my Mom. He was too late, though. Mom found her second chance Mate that night and I found my Mate in Alpha Lincoln’s Son, Magnus.” Milcah finally answers. Grandma sighs in relief; she never wanted Dad to find a replacement for herself or me. Not if it would be at the expense of another Shifter and I know she tried to make him change his mind, but we all know it didn’t work. “Milcah, what would happen if anyone could give the King evidence of Alpha Devlin’s crimes?” I ask her after a few minutes of silence. “He would get hunted by every Squad the King has at his disposal. Black Valley and Gold Moon would join that hunt and there might be a few other Packs that would also help out.” She answers without skipping a beat. Arcadia urges me to tell Milcah about my little secret and with Alpha Devlin’s sudden disappearance, I know that he didn’t have time to hide the files in his office. She grabs her phone after I tell her what I have found and I smile when I hear a man say that he is on his way. Everyone stares at me when Milcah explains that we need to wait for Alpha Lincoln because of something I told her. I refuse to tell them anything else and even Milcah is keeping her mouth shut. “We can also put our worries about Layina’s health to rest. Marley has been giving her Pheejilon all these years and because of that, her Lycan has always managed to heal her Human. It also makes it easier to break the bond between Layina and Devlin.” Milcah says. I hear the orders getting called out to the Squad members and Elite Warriors. Anyone not on patrol is ordered to turn in for the night and get a few hours of rest before the SUVs arrive to take us to Gold Moon Pack. In the morning, Grandma and I pack a bag for each of us and a bag for Dad, because Magnus doesn’t want us to stay within Seven Cloud territory. I agree wholeheartedly with him. I don’t want to be here if the Moron is stupid enough to return. One of the Squads will stay behind as a precaution, while Captain Miles will try to narrow down the places Devlin could have gone into hiding. Kashish tries to order the Squad members and Elite Warriors around, but they ignore her as they remain in the positions they were assigned. “You can not ignore me. I am the future Luna of Seven Cloud Pack and you will be punished for the disrespect you are showing.” Kashish says to one of the Gamma twins. If I remember correctly, his name is Malek and he isn’t impressed with her whatsoever. “Our Luna is still alive and I doubt there will be a Pack left, once the King is done.” Our Head Omega says as she walks past Kashish. Grandma rolls her eyes at the remark because she never wanted to be a Luna and never fulfilled the role. It is because of her time as the Gamma female that everyone still respects her and have always looked after our family when Devlin neglected us. “Layina is old news. Devlin will discard her when he returns and then you will pay for this blatant disrespect, Lowlife.” Kashish responds. Almost everyone is staring at her, because he would be a fool to return here. “Devlin will never return. He will stay in hiding for as long as he can without thinking about you for a second.” Grandma responds. Another Omega calls for us to head to the dining room for breakfast and everyone takes turns having coffee and breakfast. We have just finished breakfast when we hear a vehicle come to a screeching stop in front of the Pack-house. “That must be Dad.” Magnus says as he walks out of the dining room and we follow him to greet his Father. “Damn, that is creepy.” I hear a man, who looks like Magnus, say. “Your Dad is going to have a rough few days, Meadow.” I hear a few chuckles around me and I know we will be informed about this comment, eventually. However, at the moment we need to deal with something else. “Alpha Lincoln, if you will follow me. I bet you are curious about Milcah’s call and if it is as important as I made it sound.” I say before I start walking up the stairs. “You are nothing, Marley. Shut up and let me deal with our visitor.” Kashish says as she walks out of the living room. Acadia is near the surface, ready to give her a piece of our mind if she doesn’t pipe down fast. “Marley, lead the way. I came down here to see you and whoever she is can go take a hike.” Alpha Lincoln says as he glances at Kashish for a second. Someone stops Kashish from following us as we head to the Alpha floor. I don’t have to open the door because it was left wide open when Devlin fled and no one took the time to close it afterward. We walk toward the offices on the Alpha floor and Alpha Lincoln looks surprised when I walk past the first office. “It might be the biggest office and he probably used it for meetings with his Beta and Gamma, but it isn’t the office you need to see.” I tell him as I walk down the hall to the office that would be for the Pack’s Luna. “This is the Luna’s office.” Alpha Lincoln states and I nod my head as I open the door. I ignore the desk with files and he follows me as I walk to the other side of the room to show him what I uncovered years ago. Everything the King needs to handle the Twostriker bloodline. Every surviving member will face the consequences of their betrayal, even those living under false names.
