Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 116 Eyes Closed

Magnus’ p.o.v. While I get freshened up for dinner, I let all the information about the Belleron bloodline run through my head. I agree with Zaphara, it is a good thing that Ferdinand never marked her or we would have had much more trouble removing him from the Alpha position. As we walk down the stairs, I listen to Mom as she explains that Zaphara and Milcah won’t be joining us for the Full Moon party tomorrow. She wants to give them at least another month, because they deserve to enjoy their freedom a little longer. “I will invite the same Packs in another month or two, just in case their Mate was here and they missed one another.” Mom says. I look over my shoulder to see Zaphara and Milcah looking around the dining room, probably looking for their seats. “No one has a designated seat, except for the leadership. Mom made room for you at our table. Follow me.” I say to them. “Meadow, why are you ignoring me?” Rhys asks from behind me and I see a smirk appear on Milcah’s face. Her eyes search the room for Meadow’s and it is as if they understand one another without words. “I will ignore you as much as I want. You are not my Father, never have been and never will be.” Milcah says as she looks at Rhys. “I don’t care what you say or do in the future, you can never repent for what you did to your Mate and your children.” Everything she said is the truth and I doubt that Rhys is smart enough to understand that he isn’t talking to his Daughter, but to a total stranger. I hear laughter coming from our table, but when I turn around, I can’t see Meadow and I suspect that she is hiding somewhere. “Rhys, leave them alone. I can’t ban you from the territory, but I can ban you from the Pack-house.” Mom says as she walks over to us. “We want to enjoy our dinner and not worry about you butting in where you are not wanted.” Ouch, Mom is really angry and Rhys better take a few steps back before she lashes out for real. Milcah grabs her Mom’s arm and drags her along to our table. They sit down next to Myka and when the coast is clear, Meadow pops up again to sit down between her Mates. “Thanks, Milcah. I wish I got to see the look on his face when you told him the truth.” Meadow says. “A good thing that I didn’t have to lie. Mom wouldn’t have appreciated that and would have ruined any future ass kicking on my part.” Milcah replies. Dad is staring at Milcah to see if she is kidding, but the confusion on his face tells me that he doesn’t know whether she is kidding or not. I explain through the mind-link what Milcah said and how none of it was a lie. I wonder if she is this good under any and all circumstances, because that would make her one hell of a diplomat. Something I would like to witness someday, if I can get her to help me with any problematic issues in the future, that is. The rest of dinner is uneventful and we all head back to our own floors after we are done. Milcah seems restless and Gilliam suggests that we take her for a walk. Something to keep her mind off whatever is bothering her and maybe find out what the issue is. “Do you want to go for a walk, Milcah?” I ask after she has gotten up from her seat for the umpteenth time in the span of a few minutes. We leave the Alpha floor by using the Omega stairwell, head out the back door and start walking in the direction of the training grounds. I can hear the sounds from the training grounds drifting our way and I look at my watch to see that it is the training time of our Elite Warriors. I want to see how Milcah responds to seeing Shifters train, because I know she has never seen it in her life. She stops near the group that consists of Meadow’s friends and I remember that Brooklyn was with her when I got home. “Ready for your first training, Milcah.” Brooklyn calls out and Milcah looks at me with a questioning look. “Why not. You need to start sometime and now is as good a time as any.” I respond. We start by simply punching against some pads, just to get her familiar with the technique. After switching her punching arm a few times, I tell her to do what feels natural and not wait for my instructions. I am grateful for Gilliam’s strength, because she starts hitting harder and harder as she picks up the speed on her punches. It is clear that there is Alpha blood running through her veins and that she is an Alpha’s firstborn. “When Zaphara hands her Alpha powers over to Milcah, she will be an Alpha without a territory.” Gilliam states and it catches me off guard. My attention slips for a second and Milcah’s punch knocks me on my ass. I look at Milcah’s stunned face, while her eyes move between her fists and me. Everyone around us laughs at my expense, but I don’t care. “It’s fine, Milcah. Gilliam had to point out something that had distracted me and this is the price for it.” I say as I toss the pads aside. “Let’s see if you can hit me when I am paying attention.” Brooklyn gives her a few pointers on her stance and then they all step back to watch Milcah’s first real training. She is fast with her punches and Gilliam loves the challenge she gives us, because not many can keep up with us. An hour has passed when she collapses on the ground, breathing heavily from our training and I lie down next to her. “You are a natural, Milcah. You are better than my Betas, maybe we should ask Meadow to train with you to find out if you are even better than her.” I say as we are catching our breath. “If you feel comfortable with it, I would like to train with you.” I turn my face toward her to see her staring at the sky, her eyes are closed and her breathing is steady.
