Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 115 Dining Room

Milcah’s p.o.v. “Mom, do you know what Meadow is talking about?” I ask her, even though I already know the answer, as I look at her face. Mom explains that her family tried to keep track of any relatives who were related to the last Alpha and his Son, but that they lost track of Winston somewhere along the way. “I doubt that Winston ever knew the entire story. It wasn’t a prophecy, though. As I already explained, it only becomes fulfilled under certain circumstances and I dodged a bullet in this case. I will explain it all, but I need to know that none of you will ever talk about it.” Mom says as she looks around the room. We all swear never to reveal what Mom is about to tell us and after that, I get to hear the story of the Belleron bloodline. “I will explain it with my situation. If Ferdinand and I had marked and mated as is normal for fated Mates, we both would have gotten one or more gifts. It would have happened if my Mate had been a Beta, but not with a Shifter from any other rank. My Father was an Alpha and therefore my Mate and I would receive gifts after completing our Mate-bond. Luckily, Ferdinand never knew or he would have completed the Mate-bond. I am sure of it.” Mom says. None of us says a word, while Mom takes a sip of her coffee and takes her time to resume her storytelling.“If my Father or my Mate had been a Beta, it would have played out the same. No one knows what gift or gifts we would have received and I am still grateful that Ferdinand chose not to mark me. If you paid attention, you would understand that Winston would have never gotten what he wanted.” Mom says. “Too bad he is already dead or I would have enjoyed explaining this to him. His search for a gifted Mate was futile, no matter how you look at it.” Meadow responds. I know that Mom is hiding something, but I also know she will never tell me while others can hear her. “What didn’t you tell us, Mom?” I ask her through our mind-link, but she doesn’t answer me. She looks around the room and once in a while, her eyes linger on Meadow. Her way of telling me that she won’t answer with Meadow around. “Meadow, are you a gifted Lycan? If so, then what are your gifts?” I ask. Everyone stares at me as I ask my questions and I understand that Mom figured out something that was meant to be a secret. “Milcah can see your Shifter half. I can sense a gifted Shifter, especially one with extraordinary gifts.” Mom says to explain my questioning to everyone. Meadow seems to be talking to someone, but I can’t tell if it is her Shifter half or someone here in the living room. “I have a few gifts, but the one you are worried about is my ability to hear thoughts.” Meadow finally answers and Lyrexia perks up at the mention of that particular gift.I have read many books and articles on gifted Shifters, but most didn’t mention which ability they had. There were abilities listed, but never with a Shifter connected to that ability and we always wondered if some of them were made up. “Zaphara, if I understand this correctly, then Milcah has a high probability of getting some of those gifts one day. I know you still have a decision to make about whether to stay in Gold Moon Pack or not, but considering the circumstances, I would suggest staying here or in Black Valley Pack. If only to guarantee Milcah’s safety in the future. No one in either Pack would allow her to get hurt and a Mate would be questioned thoroughly.” Elder Major says. I am glad Luna Leona took the time to introduce everyone to me the other day and only a handful of these Shifters are nameless for the moment. “My Daughter would kick my ass if I told her we are moving. She has made friends for the first time in her life and I am not going to take that away from her.” Mom responds with a smile. “Dinner is almost ready. Those who need to can get freshened up and then we can head down to the dining room together.” Luna Leona says and Meadow responds with a soft growl. Once everyone has gone their own way, it is just my Mom and me in the living room. “The condition I hid is the most important one. You have to be marked on a Full Moon or it won’t happen.” Mom says and I understand why she kept it a secret.I won’t tell anyone about this last piece of information; it is too important to keep hidden. It might make it impossible for anyone to achieve their goal if they are unaware of this. “I don’t care, I don’t want to see that Shitface.” I hear Meadow say as she enters the Alpha floor. “You can’t go against Luna Leona. Besides, you will have to face him sometime and the sooner the better.” I hear Myka respond. She growls at her Mate as she throws herself face down on another couch and I giggle as Makay sits down on the floor to rub her back. “You know that Myka is right. As long as he keeps following the law and the orders given by Alpha Lincoln, he isn’t going anywhere. You better deal with it now and be done with it, instead of dragging it out.” Makay whispers. I know that I never have to face my so-called Father again, but Meadow doesn’t have that luxury. “Sweetheart, no one says that you have to accept him into your life. I doubt there is anything that he can say or do to apologize for what he did to you and your Brother. However, he is a Pack-member and as such, you have to deal with him on occasion.” Mom says. “Thank you, Zaphara. I think I needed to be reminded of the fact that he is still a Pack-member and that I can treat him as such. If he ever needs me in my Beta position, I will send him to Makay.” She says as she sits up straight. I don’t think that Makay is looking forward to that day, but he will do anything to make his Mate happy and that includes dealing with Shitface. Mom and I follow the others down the stairs and into the dining room, unsure where we are seated or how the seating works in this Pack.
