Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 114 Horrified Look

Milcah’s p.o.v. My first Full Moon party and if I have to believe Brooklyn, then there will be plenty of men present. Except for Hayden, none of their friend group found a Mate during the last Full Moon. Well, not entirely accurate according to Brooklyn, because Meadow found her fated Mates in the Future Beta twins. Meadow is still working for the Elders and has her own team within a Squad. After hearing about her past, I was surprised to hear that she chose to head for Renegade territory. Talk about a strong and fearless woman. I am unsure which of us had it worse. I couldn’t choose one over the other if I had to, but I understand why everyone avoids former Beta Rhys. “Come on, Milcah. Show us the dress.” Brooklyn demands. “Or do I have to call your Mom?” Oh, yeah. She knows exactly what to say to get me moving, but I don’t feel comfortable in this dress. I can’t explain it, but it just isn’t me. I wish that Mom could design a dress for me, she knows what looks good on me. “Oof. I am not sure which I think looks worse. This one or one of the ten you already tried on.” Brooklyn says, before she crashes on my bed. “I think it is best if I sit this one out. I wouldn’t know what to say if anyone asks about my family or why they have never heard of me. Just thinking about it freaks me out and I would like to enjoy my freedom a little longer, if that is okay.” I respond as I take the dress off. Brooklyn hasn’t left my side all day and I like that she doesn’t treat me like a porcelain doll. She says what she thinks and to hell with the consequences. “Have you given up the search for a dress, Milcah?” Luna Leona asks as she walks into the room with Mom and I think the face I give her tells her enough. “Why don’t you and Milcah stay on the Alpha floor during the party? I doubt either of you is ready for a Mate. I will assign two mated Omegas to the Alpha floor and they will make sure that you get to enjoy some time together.” Luna Leona offers. Mom quickly accepts the offer and I feel relief wash over me at the thought of skipping this Full Moon party. Luna Leona informs us of what happened at Frozen Star Pack and I am glad that someone else will take over as the Alpha. They deserve better than what Ferdinand gave them and maybe one day, I will visit to see the territory that should have been my home. “They’re home.” Brooklyn says the moment we hear a lot of voices coming from down the hall, we slowly get up to see what all the noise is about. “Why can’t I miss one Full Moon party?” I hear an unfamiliar voice ask. “I have been going to these parties for the past three years and all they give me is a headache.” Brooklyn whispers that the whiner is none other than the future Alpha of Gold Moon Pack, Magnus. We listen as Magnus goes on and on about what he dislikes about Full Moon parties and for once, I am glad I never got to attend one. Being the child of a High-ranking Shifter sounds like a pain during such a party and being a woman, I would have gotten a lot of attention from men who wouldn’t get a title otherwise. “Brooklyn, why are you and your new friend hiding?” I hear a woman ask and I see Brooklyn’s eyes widen. “How did you know it was me?” Brooklyn asks as she steps into the living room and my eyes lock with a woman who could have been related to me. Luna Leona smiles as everyone else looks from me to the, for me, unfamiliar woman and back again. “Milcah, this is Meadow. She is mated to the future Betas of Gold Moon and the Daughter of Shitface, as you call him.” Luna Leona says. “Meadow, this is Milcah and I don’t have to tell you who her Father is.” “No, you don’t. I had the great unpleasure of meeting that other Shitface. I hope that the Elders find him a Pack somewhere buried deep in the mountains and none of us ever have to see him again.” Meadow growls. Meadow and I have the same wavy, red hair, but our eye colors are different. Anyone who isn’t paying attention could mistake her for me and vice versa; it is our eye color that tells the difference, as her eyes are amber while mine are golden. “Are you as capable as our Mate?” A 6”5 Bear asks and for a moment, I am speechless. “How did we know his Shifter kind?” Lyrexia and I ask each other at the same time. It sounds like we can’t answer each other’s question, so I turn to Mom for answers. “How is it possible for me to know that he is a Bear Shifter?” I ask, pointing at the guy who asked me a question. Mom gestures to a couch and I know she has information for me that no one else is aware of. I bet she never told Ferdinand about it or anyone else, for that matter. “We are from the Belleron bloodline. It is an ancient, gifted bloodline that has seen more evil than good over the centuries and we have always kept most of it to ourselves. It only affects the women in our bloodline, but only under certain conditions.” Mom says. Everyone has taken a seat and is listening to what Mom has to say. “My Great-grandmother was the Sister of the last Alpha of Grand Valley Pack. She fled the territory when her Brother decided to challenge the Alpha of Frozen Star Pack. She received his Alpha powers, but it wasn’t discussed with anyone but a few Elders. Those Alpha powers were handed down to every firstborn on their deathbeds and I received them from my Father when he died when I was seventeen.” Mom continues. I have Alpha blood running through my veins from both parents, not something I had expected and I am not sure if it is something that I would have wished for. “Zaphara, can you tell us more about this bloodline? We recently took down a threat to gifted bloodlines and he was after a gifted Shifter because of a prophecy.” I hear Meadow ask Mom. I look up to see a horrified look on Mom’s face; she seems to understand what Meadow is looking for.
