Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 11 Till Morning

Myka’s p.o.v. I had seen the strange looks Beta Rhys got when he said that all Pack-members were present and I know where to start looking for answers. Where should I start looking for answers? Or maybe I should ask with which family should I start. Elder Morton had looked at Beta Rhys, so that is where I will start my investigation. I open the door to the Pack’s Archive, “Holy Fuck, What the hell happened here?” I call out, but I know that there is no one here to answer me. I pull open the filing cabinets and after half an hour I am positive that the last person to keep this up to date was Alpha Hank’s Father. My eyes get drawn to a row of tables, pushed against the wall to the right of the door and it is as if I am back in Alpha Hank’s office.“Alpha office, now.” I hear Alpha Lincoln growl through the mind-link and I walk out of the Archive to head back to the Alpha office. The others walk into the hallway as I round the corner and I close the door behind. “Elder Morton gave me a piece of advice, he told me to go through every piece of paper we could find. I think there was more to Alpha Hank than anyone could have imagined and I will not leave a stone unturned to find the truth.” Alpha Lincoln says and I slowly raise my hand. “What, Myka.” He growls. “I doubt any of you saw it, but when Elder Morton asked Beta Rhys if all Pack-members were present I saw something. Elder Morton and a few Pack-members gave him a strange look, almost as if they wanted to challenge his statement. I went to the Archive and if you thought this office was bad…” I let my sentence trail off, they know what I mean. “The last one to file a report properly was Alpha Hank’s Father. If my instincts are correct, Alpha Hank placed every piece of paper on a table and as you can imagine those piles became taller and unstable. The result, a floor filled with papers that don’t make sense in most cases until you have filed them correctly.” I say and if Alpha Lincon was a kettle, he would be whistling right now. “Why would you check the Archive?” Mom asks and I know others want to know that answer too. “If I read Elder Morton correctly and with that I mean the look he gave Beta Rhys and his advice to Alpha Lincoln, I think we might have at least one Pack-member that is unaccounted for.” I answer her. “If we want that question answered without spooking anyone, than I am going to need some help.” After dividing the tasks at hand, Alpha Lincoln orders all of us to get some sleep. I am not sure about the others, but I was asleep the moment my head hit the pillow and I slept until Makay decided to wake me up.“Fuck, you weren’t kidding.” I hear Makay mumble next to me and I slowly walk towards the papers on the floor, scared it will be disturbed even more. “Let’s see if the papers are dated, it might make it easier to find something that belongs together.” Dad says and we all sit down to start going through the papers. It only takes a few minutes before I grab a stack of papers and move to the other side of the room. By the time Luna Leona calls us for lunch, I still haven’t found two papers that are connected together and by the looks of it none of the others found anything either. The former Luna Mia is seated at the Alpha table, but she is smart enough not to sit in Luna Leona’s seat again. “Get a move on, Snail. I want a coffee with my lunch and make sure you put enough sugar in, this time.” She growls at an Omega. “Mia, first of all, you are no longer this Pack’s Luna and that means that you will not be seated at the Alpha table. Second, you are to get your drinks yourself and not order our Omegas around.” Luna Leona says, as she is pouring herself a cup of coffee. Before Mia can respond, Alpha Lincoln walks in to the dining room and one look from him has her moving to another table. Moments after we are all seated, Beta Rhys and Gamma Hugo walk in with their Pups and Rory. Rory, River and Rufus sit down in the only remaining seats at the Alpha table. Stella and Sarah sit down on the laps of their Mates and start chatting about their training session from that morning. “Why do I have to train? I know how to defend myself and that is more than enough. What do they expect? For me to go out there and find me some Rogues to kill.” Stella complains. “Oh, Fuck.” I hear Magnus mutter and like him I already know what is coming. “You are absolutely right, Stella. A female should look after her Mate and their Pups. Running border patrol or fighting Rogues and other enemies that attack the Pack, that is no job for a female.” Makay says and I see a smile appear on Stella’s face. “I am really praying to the Goddess to pair you with a female that can kick your ass, Son. A female can fight, just like a male. It is the mountain sized egos of males that stop females from growing into their full potential and if for some reason the female that kicks your ass isn’t your Mate, I am going to adopt her to annoy the hell out of you.” Dad says. Makay lowers his head, because he already knows what is coming. “Makay, if I ever hear you talk to or about a female like that, I will be the one you should fear. As for you, Stella, I suggest that you keep training or you might not survive an attack.” Mom says. “My Mate will keep me safe or he will appoint Elite Warriors to protect me.” Stella responds and Magnus and I are laughing our asses off. “No one will be there to protect you. Because if anyone defies my order to protect someone that could protect herself, I will kill them and then I will kill you.” Alpha Lincoln growls. “Makay, this is your final warning. If I hear you talk like that again or if someone tells me that you did, I will send you to Elder Morton and ask him to assign you to a team that consist of only females. Is that clear?” Alpha Lincoln asks. “Yes, Alpha, Very clear.” Makay answers and he knows this isn’t an empty threat. After lunch we continue to sort through the papers and when I want to return after dinner, Alpha Lincoln tells me that it can wait until morning.
