Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate
Makay’s p.o.v. I knew I shouldn’t have responded to Stella’s complaining, but I couldn’t help myself. I am well aware of the fact that there are females that can fight better than most males and I am not opposed to fighting beside them. That doesn’t mean that I want my Mate to be like that, I want a Mate that will wait for me when I get home and who will look after our Pups. I have two strikes against me though, my parents are probably praying to the Goddess to pair me with a strongheaded and stubborn Mate and I am part of a twin. Myka doesn’t care what our Mate looks like, all he wants is a Mate that will love us and that is the only answer anyone gets when we are asked what our Mate should be like or look like. “Rise and shine, Sunshine.” Myka calls out as he opens my bedroom door and I toss my pillow in his direction, missing him because he is already on his way to the living room. I get out of bed to close the door and I go through my morning routine to head down to the Archive after breakfast. Blade growls in my head the moment we enter the Archive and as I sit down to go through the next stack of papers, Blade curls up in the back of my head. An hour into shifting through the papers I finally find a paper that matches one I found yesterday, but it still doesn’t make any sense to me. “Okay, let’s see if we can combine some papers.” Dad says and he calls out the date on the paper he is holding, but none of us have a paper that goes with it. We keep repeating it until it is time for lunch and we managed to pair three different dates to at least two papers. This is going to be a long and tedious task, after all Alpha Hank lead this Pack for almost twenty years and in that time a Pack can collect a lot of files. We have lunch in the Alpha office, none of us in the mood to run into anyone of Alpha Hank’s leadership and I want to laugh when Myka suggests that Alpha Lincoln starts talking to Pack-members with Dad and Luna Leona. “Care to explain this plan of yours?” Alpha Lincoln asks. “It will take ages to go through all that paperwork in the Archive. If you talk to each Pack-member separately, you might find some answers sooner than we can and Luna Leona will be there to calm down any situation that might head in the wrong direction. I suggested Dad for the most simple reason there is, he can tell you when someone is lying to you.” Myka explains and for once I agree with him. Alpha Lincoln assigns Mom, Gamma Layton and Gamma Laney to our team and after lunch we head back to the Archive. Alpha Lincoln will start his interviews with the Omegas and the first one he will call to his office is Brenna. By the time Luna Leona comes in to get us for dinner, I have three files that contain at least two papers each and they are starting to make a little sense to me. Stella tries to get me on her side again during dinner, but I am going to keep my mouth shut. Matheus, our future Gamma, once made the mistake of thinking that Alpha Lincoln was pulling his chains, I don’t remember what he was commenting on and Alpha Lincoln gave him the same final warning as he gave me. Matheus made the mistake of continuing with his comments and the next morning an Elder showed up to take him to Renegade territory. He was gone for a week and after that he never crossed Alpha Lincoln again, none of us for that matter. “Mandatory training in an hour for all Pack-members, no exceptions.” Alpha Lincoln says before he walks out of the dining room and I grab his plate on my way to the kitchen. We all know the drill, but I doubt every Pack-member understands what we are doing. “Did he mean us too?” Brenna asks me and I nod my head. “That is why we are taking care of our own dirty dishes. Don’t clean the dining room, get changed and head to the training grounds. You will understand soon what is going on.” Myka says as he places a few plates in the dishwasher. I see a very uncomfortable look on Brenna’s face and as I turn to the other Omegas I see it on all their faces. “Is something wrong?” I ask Brenna. “We only have two outfits, the one we are wearing and the one that is drying right now, for tomorrow.” She whispers her answer, her head bowed. “Just head to the training grounds, we will inform Alpha Lincoln and he will take care of everything.” Myka says as he guides another Omega out of the kitchen and slowly every Omega makes their way out the backdoor. I glance into the dining room and a smile appears on my face. The Warriors are lined up at the other door to the kitchen, each of them holding their dirty dishes. The only ones oblivious to what is going on are the former Luna and her entourage. Half an hour later I walk onto the training grounds and one look among the crowd tells me that not everyone is present, “Where are Beta Rhys and the rest of your former leadership?” Alpha Lincoln asks and everyone just shrugs their shoulder. “Beta, start the training. I will be right back with our lost sheep.” Alpha Lincoln says and he walks back to the Pack-house. Mom is talking with the Omegas and making all kinds of notes. Their wardrobe will grow drastically in a day or two and I know their lives will improve as well. After our lost sheep have joined us, we train for another hour. “Training is over. However, I have a few announcements to make.” Alpha Lincoln says and I hear a few soft growls coming from my left. “For those that didn’t show up on time, you will head to the kitchen immediately and start on the dishes. The dining room needs to be cleaned and to make sure you actually do it, I will supervise you. Everyone else is free to go and remember that this will happen again without warning.” Alpha Lincoln says, before he orders the former leadership and their Pups to the kitchen. Brenna is staring after them, just like almost every other Pack-member. “He is just kidding, right?” She asks no one in particular. “No, my Mate is very serious. You are just as important to our Pack, as an Elite Warrior is. Who do you think can prepare their own meals?” Luna Leona says and I see Brenna looking around her at other Pack-members. “Damn, they would starve.” She mumbles as she walks away with the other Omegas.
