Reborn as the Baby Sister Everyone Spoiled—and the One He Loved
Jay could barely contain his excitement. His fingers moved quickly across his phone's keyboard, eager to send his response. "Yes, I really want to know who you are. Will you tell me?" The reply came almost instantly. "You don't need to know who I am, but I can tell you how I did it." Before Jay could react, the girl sent him a detailed guide—step-by-step instructions on the surgery, the medications, the tools, materials needed, and important precautions to take during the procedure. "So that's how she did it," Jay murmured as he read. Everything began to make sense, and his excitement grew. "Who are you? You're so young—how do you know so much? Who's your teacher?""I told you, you don't need to know who I am. And you won't." "Miss, please don't misunderstand. I mean no harm. I just want to be friends. If you have time, maybe we can discuss some of the unresolved medical cases in this country." As soon as Jay pressed send, a notification popped up. Message failed to send. The reason? The email address didn't exist. It seemed the girl had purposely given him a false address to keep him from tracing her. So mysterious. But the more she tried to hide, the more Jay was determined to know. At first, he was curious about how she performed the surgery, but now he was even more interested in who she was. She can't be older than 18 or 19.At 23, I'm already considered a genius in my field. I have to admit, this girl might be more talented than I am. Jay had spent his life in the shadow of his mother's family, the Elrods—a well-known family in the pharmaceutical industry. His grandfather had decided Jay would follow in their footsteps early on. By the age of three, Jay was reading medical books. By six, he was writing prescriptions. By twelve, he was already making a name for himself in the medical world. He had received numerous awards over the years, earning the title of medical prodigy. But now, here was someone who might surpass him. He had to find her. Jay immediately called Odin, asking the hacker to track her down. "Jay, you're too late. She's careful. All I can confirm is that she's somewhere in Rivington, but I can't pinpoint her exact location," Odin said. "Thanks, Odin," Jay responded, his brow furrowed. Rivington. A massive city of over ten million people. Trying to find her in that crowd without any solid leads was like searching for a needle in a haystack. The excitement he'd just felt quickly disappeared. By the time Elaine arrived for lunch just after noon, Jay was slouched on the sofa, a dark expression on his face. Elaine eyed him curiously. Haven't I already explained everything to him, like he asked? Why does he look so upset? "You're here," Jay said, his mood shifting as soon as he saw her. He straightened up and began opening the food containers on the coffee table. There were ten dishes in total—seven meat dishes, two vegetarian ones, and a soup. Usually, Jay only ate two meat dishes, one vegetable, and a soup by himself. Sometimes, he didn't even have time to eat at all when he was busy. But today, knowing Elaine was coming—especially since this was the first time they were having a meal alone—he made sure to order a more elaborate spread. He didn't want to seem cheap when it came to her food. "Is it just the two of us?" Elaine asked as she took a seat. Jay gave her a teasing glance. "Who else would you like to join us for lunch?"
