When Love Is the Only Thing Left
“You... How despicable!” The man was obviously infuriated. Holden chuckled. “You look like a hitman from Chanaea to me. It looks like your master has treated you well, huh?” Growing impatient, the man sneered, “Cut to the chase, will ya? Just ask whatever you want. There is no need to beat around the bush.” Holden raised his brow at brazen his response. “Fine, I won't waste your precious time then. So, when did you guys come to Moranta?” The man seemed bewildered by Holden asking him such a simple question. Nevertheless, he answered, “Two days ago.” Holden uttered a response when he got his answer. Leaning against the couch, he shifted his gaze to me and said, “I've finished asking my question. Ms. Stovall, go ahead.” I couldn't help furrowing my brow. That's it? That's all he wanted to ask? What is this man up to? I couldn't seem to figure out Holden's intention. Regardless, I turned to face Boris and asked, “Boris, did this man tell you where Ashton is?” The latter shook his head. “No. I couldn't make him speak.” After hesitating for a while, I went straight into the kitchen and soon came out holding a knife. Seeing that, Holden burst into laughter. “Ms. Stovall, you are indeed an interesting person.” I rolled my eyes at him in response. Then, I made my way toward the man who was on his knees. “Boris, could you hold him and prevent him from moving?” Boris nodded. He then signaled his two subordinates. In no time, the two subordinates pinned the man on the floor. Fixing my eyes on the man, I raised the knife before him and asked, “Tell me, where is my husband?” Yet, the man was not afraid at all. “I told you already. After we kidnapped him, we killed him and dumped his body. The police should've found his body by now.” While suppressing my anger, I ordered the two subordinates, “Hold his hand!” The two subordinates instantly complied. Staring at the man, I enunciated, “If you're not telling me, the price will be your one hand. Well, an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. Since you said you killed my husband, it is fair for me to kill you. Yet, I think it's a mercy to let you die so easily. I'll ask you questions one after another. If I'm not satisfied with your answer, I will chop off your hand. Next will be your leg. If you refuse to answer, I will chop off all your limbs and let you live the rest of your life without them. Do you know what the worst part is? I will soak your naked body in saltwater and let you live a living hell.” Boris, who was standing aside, twitched the corner of his lips. Perhaps he thought those words were too cruel to emerge from the mouth of a young lady. Just then, Holden couldn't help cursing, “Holy moly! Are you crazy? That's disgusting!” “Shut up!” I shot a death glare at him. Holden was dazed as it was the first time he saw me in such a furious state. He stroked the bridge of his nose and kept quiet. Meanwhile, the man on the ground was undaunted, thinking he had nothing to lose. “Are you trying to scare me?” With a sneer, I raised the knife and slashed at him without any hesitation. The wail of the man ensued. Everything happened in the blink of an eye. The next moment, Holden, who was sitting lazily, sat bolt upright and roared at me, “F*ck! You really mean it?” Not losing any time, he quickly made a call to his family doctor. After that, facing me, he once again bellowed, “Damn it! If you want to kill him, do it outside! Not on my millions-worth flooring! You need to compensate me for my loss!” Boris, too, was in shock. Gazing at me, he said meekly, “Ms. Stovall, perhaps we don't need to kill him?” I stared icily at the man who was terrified while holding his hand. “I've only cut one of his fingers. Don't worry; he won't die that easily.” The others fell into silence. The man's eyes were glazing over. In a stony voice, I asked, “I'm going to ask you one more time. Where is my husband?” The man was on the verge of a breakdown. “I told you he is dead! After we dragged him out of the car, another group of people took him. They killed him! Your husband is dead!” Clenching the knife, I narrowed my eyes and uttered, “The man who died is not my husband! Hmph! It seems to me that you don't want your hand anymore.” Seeing me raising the knife, the man could take it no more. He gabbled in a panic, “I really don't know! Some people took your husband away after we dragged him out of the car. They only told me that they killed him. What else do you have to ask? I've told you everything I know!” There were another group of people who took Ashton away! It seems like he's telling the truth. I exchanged glances with Boris. The latter gave his two subordinates a signal. Soon after, the two subordinates left the villa. Having kneeled for too long, I felt dizzy the moment I stood up. The man picked up the joint of his finger, crying in agony. Gazing at Boris, I spoke up, “Boris, I will need you to find that group of people. And also, did you manage to find Armond's whereabouts?” “I only knew he's staying at some hotel. The Murphys have a lot of properties in Moranta,” Boris answered, “up until now, we didn't find anything suspicious.”
