Seraphina Is Back—and She’s Not Alone
Aside from the specially recruited students, most Bloomington students came from its middle school department. Therefore, new faces were a rare sight. Xavier showed Seraphina the way to her classroom. The students were chatting with their friends when the duo arrived. As they walked into the classroom, the student's gaze immediately fell on the beautiful girl who trailed behind Xavier. "Wow, she's stunning. Did she go to the same middle school as us?" "Have you seen her before?" "No, never." "She must be a transfer student. If she had studied here before, words about her beauty would've spread. "She's even prettier than the junior, Rainie. It seems like Rainie has competition.""The school has brought in another batch of top students. I wonder if she's one of them." "We must be too average to cause them to keep admitting top students, eh?" "True. We are the worst students in years, so they have to bring in some nerds to boost their reputation." The chatter continued, completely ignoring Xavier, showcasing the students' arrogance. "Quiet down." The students finally stopped talking at his raised voice. All eyes turned to him, anticipating him to introduce the new face. "We have a transfer student joining us today. Miss Whitewood, please introduce yourself." He turned to Seraphina. She stepped forward and gazed at the familiar faces. A faint smile appeared on her lips as she met their curious gaze, though it wasn't meant to be friendly. She picked up the marker pen and swiftly wrote her name on the whiteboard. Then, she tossed the pen effortlessly into the pen holder. The smooth and clean move earned cheers and whistles from the students. As she stood there without a word, Xavier prompted, "Would you like to share something about yourself?" "No need.." He decided against pressing her and instead scanned the room for a seat. His gaze fell on the seat in the last row by the window, where the troublemaker usually sat. He hesitated to assign her to sit there as he stole a glance at her. "Would anyone like to switch seats with Miss Whitewood?" "No need. That seat is fine." At that, she walked toward the back of the room. All eyes were fixed on her as she walked. The students gasped in unison when she finally took her seat. Some admired her courage, some thought she was digging her grave, while the rest couldn't wait for the drama to unfold. Xavier marveled at her fearlessness. Adam's words rang in his mind, so he reminded her, "Feel free to tell me if you need something." "Thank you, Mr. Donovan." "All right, students. The class starts now." Despite his words, the students continued with their distractions. The boy sitting in front of Seraphina turned around and whispered, "Are you aware of who you're sitting next to?"
