Seraphina Is Back—and She’s Not Alone

Chapter 30 She Had Enough

Seraphina didn't bother to reply, and the boy didn't seem to mind it. Instead, he eagerly shared, "He's the notorious school bully. His father holds a prominent position in Pyrin. It would be wise not to provoke him as he has the power to have you expelled." Her indifference let him down as he expected his words to shake her. "Aren't you afraid?" She calmly responded, "Is he a mutant or something?" The boy was taken aback at first. Then, he shook his head. "Does he suffer from an infectious disease?" He shook his head again. "In that case, why should I be afraid of him?" she countered. Her words surprised him. He stumbled for an answer, to no avail, as he was somewhat convinced by her logic. The other students had been following their exchange and had overheard their conversation. They concluded that she was unconventional. A few girls surrounded her table during recess. "Seraphina, what do your parents do?" Coming from affluent families themselves, they had recognized her privileged background. Understanding her background would determine their attitude toward her and the depth of their relationship. "My father is Oberon Whitewood, the chairman of Whitewood Group." The revelation shocked the students. Alina gasped in surprise. "You're Linara's younger sister." Seraphina remained silent. Linara isn't worthy of being my older sister. The students learned about the return of the Whitewood Family's biological daughter and her upbringing before the school year began. They were intrigued by her story, but never expected her to be their classmate. With Oberon's influential reputation, the girls refrained from openly picking on her but also didn't deign to befriend her. After all, her previous living environment wasn't deemed favorable. The girls who had surrounded Seraphina just moments ago dispersed instantly. "Urgh. Who would've thought Linara's sister would be in my class? What terrible luck." "I heard that she prostituted herself for money before she returned to the Whitewood Family." "Don't get too close to her. Who knows if she carries any diseases? You won't want to catch something." "I was just near her earlier. Now I feel filthy. Can I go home to shower?" A girl glanced at the quiet Seraphina and spoke up. "Let's not jump to conclusions. Those might just be rumors." Another girl clicked her tongue. "Don't be so naive. She's young and beautiful. I doubt the men wouldn't make a move on her knowing she lives alone." "That's a valid point." Such were the discussions among the girls. … The boys, on the other hand, had a different perspective. "Unbelievable! She's my crush's younger sister!" "She stole what belonged to Linara! Even if she's attractive, I still dislike her." "I heard she's easy. Anyone interested in finding out?" "Not only is she stunning, but she's also a Whitewood. It would be awesome to show her off around if I have her. Linara is out of our league, but her sister is fair game."They didn't bother to keep their voice down. Seraphina couldn't even play ignorance if she tried to. In her previous life, they had behaved in the same manner, openly ridiculing and slandering her. If she hadn't been certain that this was their first encounter, she would've suspected that she had offended them in the past, prompting them to attack her with such malice. Back then, she avoided trouble, not wanting to burden her parents or be perceived as uneducated, so she endured it. But now, she refused to let them step on her anymore.
