Seraphina Is Back—and She’s Not Alone
"How could you do this to me, Sera? Aren't we friends?" Yvonne's voice trembled with emotion. She even stifled a sob to make sure her pretense was convincing. "Of course. You're the friend who has always taken advantage of me. Thanks for the reminder, but I remember," Seraphina retorted. "W-What do you mean? I've never forced you to help me with those things," Yvonne defended herself, fearing Adam would side with Seraphina. Seraphina sneered without bothering to respond. She turned to Adam and asked, "Mr. King, where's my classroom located? I'm in a rush." Adam was perceptive enough to sense the tension between the two girls. He realized their relationship was strained, to say the least. D*mnit! I almost fell for that beggar's act! Suppressing his urge to vent at Yvonne, he handed Seraphina her documents with a smile and briefed her on her schedule. At last, he added, "I'll let your homeroom teacher show you the way." A quick phone call brought her homeroom teacher to the office. Seraphina's eyes welled up with tears at the sight of the handsome young man with glasses. Xavier Donovan, her homeroom teacher, was the only person who was kind to her in the school. He was a fresh graduate with a heart of gold and a passion for teaching. However, he was involved in a scandal in the third year of his career. The school dismissed him as the negative voices grew louder and louder. It marked the end of his career and overwhelmed him with a mountain of debt. Seraphina refused to believe a man like him would harass a student. However, the concrete evidence left her no room to argue.Years later, she overheard Linara and the victim converse, and the truth finally came to light. Her intuition was right all along. He never committed sexual assault on his student. He was being set up. The goal was to retribute against him Linara's gang had been trying to harm Seraphina, but Xavier always stopped them in time and even lectured them. A righteous man like him simply wanted to call them out for their wrongdoings. Yet, to them, he was helping Seraphina to get away on purpose. He was a menace in their eyes, so they set him up to get rid of him. He paid the price with his career. After losing his job, he had to work three part-time jobs to clear his debt. Unfortunately, he passed away in a car accident when he was delivering food on a rainy night. His death hit Seraphina hard. She felt immense regret for the role she unknowingly played in his downfall. She believed in repaying kindness with kindness and paying back for wrongs done. While some may argue that it was the teachers' responsibility to stand up against the evildoers and uphold truth, Seraphina was always grateful for his help. Humans were complicated beings. Xavier's unwavering integrity was rare. If only he was a bootlicker and as selfish as Adam, he would never lose his job. His tragic passing had been haunting her. Seeing him again blurred her vision with tears. She was determined to ensure the tragedy would never repeat itself. I won't let him suffer this time. The beautiful girl's intense gaze on him grabbed Xavier's attention, but he didn't give it much thought as Adam began to task him with looking after her. "Mr. Donovan, Miss Whitewood here is the new transfer student. I'll entrust her to you now. Remember to help her catch up with her studies as she's new to the course." After that, Adam turned to Seraphina with a smile. "Don't hesitate to ask for our help if you need anything." It was currently the second semester of the school year. Bloomington's teaching approach set it apart from other high schools. Adam's words indicated he valued her opinion of him. Xavier hummed before escorting Seraphina to her class. As soon as they departed, Adam began to yell at Yvonne, forecasting a great humiliation for her.
