Seraphina Is Back—and She’s Not Alone
"I'm sorry, Mr. King. I got lost on my way," a girl apologized sheepishly. Her explanation failed to appease the dean's anger and fueled it instead. "You should've set out earlier if you don't know the way. As expected from you, bumpkins. Bloomington is an elite school! It's nothing like your previous shabby school," Adam, the dean, scolded. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" Yvonne kept apologizing with her head down with tears in her eyes. Suddenly, the door swung open, startling the two inside and causing them to turn their heads. Yvonne was astonished to find Seraphina at the door. The idea of Seraphina witnessing her most embarrassing moment made her cheeks flushed. Then, she realized Seraphina's late arrival could steer the dean's anger away from her. At that thought, the embarrassment she felt a few seconds ago vanished. The dean was about to scold the newcomer when he recognized her outfits from the brand LB and the expensive watch on her wrist. He bit his tongue to avoid letting the words out. "Who are you, miss?" "Seraphina Whitewood, sir." The answer took him aback. He stared at Seraphina in disbelief. Rumors said her parents only found her after years of being apart. However, her elegance made her seem far from a poor girl living in the slums. Instead, she appeared as a noble lady raised by a wealthy family. The Whitewood Family was a famous noble family in Pyrin. Adam didn't dare to scold Seraphina as she was the daughter of the Whitewood Family. Adam was infamous for distinction. He never dared to offend the students from wealthy and influential families. Instead, he picked on the students from ordinary families. He was known as a jerk among students, but the school board valued him for his rhetoric. In their previous life, Adam never yelled at Yvonne once on Seraphina's behalf. She decided to give Yvonne her 'normal life' back starting today. The man came to his senses and enthusiastically greeted Seraphina, "It's you! Please, have a seat." She accepted his invitation by walking past Yvonne and sat on the couch. From there, she watched Yvonne standing. Yvonne didn't expect the turn of events. She anticipated Adam to scold Seraphina, but he was too busy trying to flatter Seraphina. "Sera…" Biting her lips, she met Seraphina's eyes with a pout. "Do you two know each other?" Her voice surprised Adam. She immediately responded, "Yes. We have been close friends since childhood."He now saw her in a new light. A wide grin appeared on his face. She knew she was on the right path when she found a friendly smile on his face. Nobody would dare to bully her, considering Seraphina's reputation. "Try being on time from today on, okay?" he said kindly. Overjoyed, she nodded vigorously. "I will." "I don't know her, Mr. King." Seraphina coldly interjected as the two exchanged pleasantries. Yvonne paled at the words. Her eyes widened in disbelief as if accusing Seraphina of lying. Adam's surprise at the revelation was replaced by anger at being deceived. The thought of being deceived by an ordinary student made his blood boil. Yvonne panicked at the sight of his stern expression.
