Seraphina Is Back—and She’s Not Alone

Chapter 26 Ex-best Friend

Yvonne was fully aware that Seraphina was going to marry a perverted elderly man. She knew the sadistic psycho was responsible for the deaths of numerous women. She knew Seraphina would get killed one day if Seraphina married him. Still, she put on an innocent facade and pushed Seraphina toward her doom with the excuse that she was looking out for Seraphina. Seraphina couldn't believe her best friend since childhood did this to her. Yvonne stabbed her in the back and pushed her toward her misery at her most vulnerable moment. In their previous life, Seraphina covered the medical bills of Yvonne's parents when they fell sick. She also defended Yvonne when Yvonne got bullied at school. She even stood up for Yvonne when Yvonne's boyfriend mistreated Yvonne. Moreover, she even paid Yvonne's general expenses and school expenses. She took Yvonne under her wing and allowed Yvonne to live a luxurious life that rivaled their wealthy classmates. She believed she had never wronged Yvonne, yet Yvonne surprised her with betrayal. At that time, she couldn't comprehend why Yvonne would turn against her. Later on, she learned that Yvonne had always harbored jealousy toward her. In Yvonne's eyes, both of them were meant to struggle for life, but Seraphina had the fortune of finding her biological family. It's ridiculous. She gave up on our friendship just like that. Maybe there was no friendship all along. She only wanted to take advantage of me. Seraphina despised Linara, but her disdain for the ungrateful Yvonne ran even deeper. She looked down upon people who turned against their friends or were ungrateful, and Yvonne embodied both traits. She wondered if Yvonne could still afford luxuries and live a comfortable life without her protection in this life.Yvonne was surprised to see her. After the surprise passed, Yvonne approached her with a bright smile. "I can't believe I ran into you, Sera!" After the initial excitement, Yvonne took note of Seraphina's attire and exclaimed, "I was told your biological parents took you home. I thought I'd never see you again. I'm so happy to meet you here! We're classmates again. It's wonderful!" She paused as something came to her mind, and she continued, "What do your parents do? They must be quite influential to enroll you in Bloomington, right?" She attempted to link arms with Seraphina, but Seraphina deftly evaded it. As her hand missed its mark, she looked at Seraphina with a pained expression after the initial surprise. "Are you still mad at me, Sera? I'd give up my spot for you if I could. I don't want it to drive wedges between us." She bit her lip. "Will you forgive me?" Seraphina calmly changed the topic. "Aren't you supposed to report to the office?"Glancing at the time, she continued, "You'll be late if you don't leave now. I've heard that Bloomington has a strict environment. Being late on your first day might get you expelled." The words reminded Yvonne of her impending tasks. "I'll be on my way then. Let's meet up later." Seraphina watched Yvonne go before sauntering toward the office in the opposite direction. As she neared the office, she overheard the dean's scolding from behind the door. "What's the matter with you? Don't you have the concept of punctuality? What do you take the school as? Arriving on time is your basic responsibility."
