Seraphina Is Back—and She’s Not Alone
Seraphina took the business card, glancing at it. The card had a unique texture, with only a name and a string of numbers printed on it. Such a card was rare. She accepted it. "Thank you. Please tell Evelyn that I'll be heading back first." "Of course." As Seraphina stepped out, Oliver was already waiting at the door, ready to open the Rolls-Royce for her. "Miss Seraphina, please get in." Jason stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room, watching the car gradually disappear from view, fading into the distance. She's an interesting young lady. Had he not known she was Evelyn's classmate, there were times when he would have thought he was speaking to someone much older. …At the Whitewood Residence, the atmosphere was tense. The servants dared not make a sound, moving with utmost caution. It had been a long time since they had seen Oberon this angry. Linara and Chloe sat together while Oberon's face was dark with fury. He turned to Jasmine and barked, "Jasmine, check if that wretched girl has returned yet!" Jasmine nodded and quickly left to check. A few moments later, she returned alone. "Call that wretched girl," Oberon ordered sharply. "Tell her if she doesn't come back within ten minutes, she can forget about ever returning!" "Miss Seraphina is already on her way. She should be here soon," Jasmine replied, unable to resist speaking in Seraphina's defense. Chloe sighed softly. "Where could she possibly have gone at this hour, especially with no knowledge of the area? It's late, and for a young girl, it's dangerous." Oberon snapped, his anger rising. "She's been gone long enough, and you, as her mother, have done nothing to control her. Look at what she's done now—brought this trouble upon our family." Chloe felt a wave of helplessness and frustration. "Honey, you know her temper. How could I possibly reprimand her? She holds a grudge against us. No matter what I say, she won't listen." "Hmph!" Oberon snorted coldly but didn't continue his tirade. Just then, a Rolls-Royce slowly approached and came to a smooth stop outside the door. "Miss Seraphina has returned." The people in the living room turned their heads, looking through the floor-to-ceiling window at the understated yet luxurious car. Oberon immediately recognized it—it seemed to be Jason's car. Linara noticed the change in Oberon's expression and quietly remarked, "Evelyn is good to Seraphina, even arranging for their family car to bring her back."Oberon was familiar with Evelyn—the illegitimate daughter of the Drakon family's senior line. She was not welcomed by the family, which had led to her exile in Pyrin. He wouldn't have paid much attention if it had been Evelyn instead of Jason. When Seraphina entered, she immediately felt the heavy tension in the air. Oberon, seeing her, bellowed, "Get down on your knees!" Linara's eyes lit up with excitement. She could barely suppress the urge to scream in delight. Seraphina, now it's your turn! Seraphina looked at him skeptically. "I don't believe in spirits or gods. You are still alive and well." Her implication was clear—since they were still alive, she did not need to do so. Oberon's fury grew. "Jasmine, fetch the whip!" Jasmine hesitated, but when she met Chloe's sharp gaze, she had no choice but to turn and retrieve it."You've become bold, striking Bryan. Do you realize our family has a business partnership with the Hall family? By hurting his son, you've slapped Jacob in the face. If we lose that two-hundred-million deal because of this, how will you make up for it?"
