The Apocalypse Wolf Queen
At the same time, a voice call was in progress inside the dean's office of the Combat Institute On the glowing screen in the air, the face of the Command Institute dean appeared. "What do you mean, Mr. Angus? Are you trying to poach my student?" William Lambert, dean of the Combat Institute, asked in a low, firm voice. Roth replied calmly, "How could you say that? Based on her performance chart and all test results, this student is clearly a better fit for the Command Institute. This is about her future path. True talent shouldn't be wasted, right, Mr. Lambert?" He paused, then pressed harder. "Also, the Command Institute is the top institute at Blue Star Military Academy. I'm sure you won't deny that. Since this student matches us best, I believe Mr. Lambert should help talk to her as well. You and I both know which place would benefit her more."William frowned deeply. Roth's goal was obvious. He didn't just want to take the student. He also wanted me to help convince the student, too. Did he really think I was a fool? William said coldly, "Mr. Angus, are you looking down on the Combat Institute? We may not be as famous as the Command Institute, but we are still a proper military institute. If her performance chart and test scores really fit your institute better, then why was she assigned to us in the first place?" Roth's face darkened. He stayed silent. "If I remember right, when a student chooses to transfer on their own, the school respects that decision," Roth said after a moment, his tone firm. William nodded. "That's true. But do you really think a freshman could pass the Command Institute's admission test?" Seeing the doubt in William's eyes, Roth let out a cold laugh. "Heh. Sorry, Mr. Lambert, but this student passed our institute's admission test with a perfect score." William's expression changed sharply. Seeing this, Roth felt a sharp sense of satisfaction. William recovered quickly and shot back, "So what? In the end, she still didn't choose your institute." On the surface, he looked calm, but inside, his thoughts were in complete chaos. The people in the Command Institute always thought very highly of themselves. Their admission test was extremely hard, made on purpose to block the crowds of students who were desperate to get in. He never expected that a freshman would not only pass the test, but also get a perfect score. No wonder Roth came in person to take her away. His smile froze at once. This William was clearly doing it on purpose, just to go against him. He said firmly, "I hope you will think carefully, Mr. Lambert. One great commander is worth an entire army. Keeping such talent in the Combat Institute is a waste." He was determined to take Thora away. In his eyes, letting Thora stay in the Combat Institute was nothing but wasting talent. William didn't answer right away. He was stuck with a hard choice to make. Thora's passing the Command Institute test did mean she was better suited for that place. Her performance chart, with top scores across the board, proved it. He had thought he had gotten a huge win, but it turned out she was just a hidden gem meant for the Command Institute. Still, letting Roth take the student away so easily—and even asking him to help convince her—felt far too unfair. Just then, there was a knock on the office door, and a teacher walked in. "Mr. Lambert," the teacher said. It was the same teacher who had just finished handling the freshman fight. "Yes? What is it?" William asked. Seeing the teacher's serious look, he casually turned off the call screen, cutting off Roth's sight and sound. "Mr. Lambert, there was a fight in the first-year training room just now..." The teacher reported everything from start to finish. As the report went on, William's face grew darker and darker. "What's the name of the freshman who caused trouble?" William asked. The teacher answered respectfully, "Thora Green. I heard she was the last-ranked student in this year's freshman admissions." Thora Green? William's heart skipped a beat. Wasn't this the freshman Roth wanted to take? "Pull up the training room surveillance," he said in a low voice. "Yes, Mr. Lambert." The teacher stepped forward and tapped a few keys on the virtual keyboard. At once, the surveillance footage from the training room appeared in front of them, fast-forwarding straight to the moment when Thora made her move.
