The Apocalypse Wolf Queen
Thora's POV: "Ms. Green, whether you're human or ghost, please spare us!" "We didn't mean to kill you. Look what's already happened to us. Please, spare our lives!" As they cried, they bit open the cloth wrapped around their hands. No fingers remained, just palms. All their fingers had been cleanly severed. Without their wolf spirits, they'd lost their rapid healing. Judging by how the wounds had healed, this must have happened within the past week. "Who did this? Hazel?" I asked coldly.Logic dictated it should be Hazel, but if she were going to make a move, she'd eliminate all witnesses completely, not just cripple them like this. While I was thinking, the two exchanged glances and tried to run. I glanced at two stones near my feet and kicked them. The rocks shot out with a whoosh, striking their kneecaps. Both screamed and pitched forward onto the ground. I walked closer at a leisurely pace, my voice cold. "Try running again and your legs will end up like your hands." The two completely panicked and immediately started apologizing. "Ms. Green, please have mercy! We'll talk, we'll tell you everything!" "Actually, we don't know who did it either. All we remember is everything going black that day, and someone grabbed us." "They locked us up and tortured us for information. After they found out who ordered the attack on you, they chopped off our fingers and castrated us, then destroyed our wolf spirits too." Darius's handsome face flashed through my mind unbidden. Was it him again? The two kept pleading for mercy in front of me. I frowned. My original intention had been to eliminate these two, who were among the main culprits responsible for the original Thora's death. But looking at their current state, they were already two harmless pieces of trash. "Since living is more painful than dying for you, I suppose that's more satisfying than killing you outright. Consider this revenge on her behalf." Leaving those words behind, I turned and left the alley. As soon as I got in the car, Felix asked curiously, "What were you doing back there?" "Taking care of some trouble," I said flatly, starting the car to head back to the Green Residence. As it happened, Norman was home too. At that moment, he, Laurel, and Hazel were having a pleasant conversation about tomorrow night's banquet. Seeing Felix and me return, his expression shifted before he turned to Felix with a smile. "Welcome back. How was shooting practice today?" "Same as always," Felix answered flatly. Norman nodded. "Keep practicing hard. You're the only male heir of the Greens family line. You'll need to earn merit on the battlefield in the future to bring glory to our family and Silverleaf Pack!" Then he turned to look at me, his brow furrowing in reproach. "Look at yourself! Dressed like some street punk, hanging around outside all day. Where's any trace of an heiress in you?" I ignored his provocation and headed for the stairs. Laurel seized the opportunity to kick me while I was down. "Thora, what kind of attitude is that? You don't even show basic respect to your elders! Your father is talking to you, and you just ignore him?" Clearly, this gave Norman the excuse he needed to explode. He suddenly roared, "Get over here and apologize!" I saw Felix move beside me. He wanted to stand up for me, but I grabbed him first. "Where exactly did you get the idea I'm disrespecting my elders?" I shot back mockingly. Laurel deliberately tried to soothe Norman. "Honey, don't get yourself worked up. Thora is the heiress—Marlon designated, after all. This is just how she is. I'm used to it. You just got back. It's not worth getting upset over her." The implication was clear. I was using my position as heiress to disrespect my elders at home, and she'd been suffering this mistreatment for a long time. Sure enough, after those words, Norman's gaze toward me grew even more frigid. "Do you think that just because Marlon favors you, you can do whatever you want? Your nerve keeps growing. Now you won't even listen to me, is that it?" He pressed me with question after question, the oppressive aura emanating from him making the air feel frozen for a moment. I looked at him calmly. "I really don't understand. Even the lowest ranked wolves treat their pups fairly. Why do you hate me so much?" "What kind of nonsense are you talking?" Norman yelled. Coming from the apocalypse, I never understood familial bonds to begin with. But even without understanding them, I knew that even wild animals didn't show such favoritism toward their young. So why did Norman detest me to this extent? Was it really just because of the Silverleaf Pack inheritance? "Thora, get over here and apologize!" Norman commanded loudly again. I responded calmly but firmly. "Even if you're this body's biological father, you have no right to make me apologize. Using blood ties to force my obedience is the lowest, most despicable tactic there is." "You insolent brat! If I don't teach you a lesson, you really will think you can get away with anything!" Wolf power instantly surged around Norman's body as he swung his hand toward me.
