The Apocalypse Wolf Queen

Chapter 38 Felix's Shield

Thora's POV: Crack! A loud slap echoed through the spacious hall. I stared in surprise at Felix blocking me, never expecting he'd actually take that wolf-powered slap meant for me. "Felix?" Norman was shocked. He quickly withdrew his hand and demanded angrily, "What do you think you're doing?" Felix looked at Norman, his tone cold. "Dad, you shouldn't hit Thora." "I'm her father. If I say she deserves it, then she does. Now get out of my way!" Laurel pretended to reason with him earnestly. "Felix, you can't defy your father like this. You never used to talk back. Did you learn this from Thora? You're still young. You can't let her corrupt you."Felix shot Laurel a cold glance, then reached out to pull me away. Once we got to my room, I could still clearly hear Norman's furious roar, despite the villa's good soundproofing, thanks to my superior hearing honed in the apocalypse. "This is outrageous! First one, then the other, both going against me!" "Thora must have corrupted Felix! Honey, she's not even officially the heiress yet and she already dares to openly defy you. If she actually inherits Silverleaf Pack, won't she kick us all out?" "She wouldn't dare! But you're right. Thora's rebellious by nature. I have to find a way to take the inheritance rights back from her!" I didn't care about what those irrelevant people said. Even if they wanted to strip me of my inheritance rights, they'd have to have the ability to do so first. The only thing that surprised me was Felix's actions. From my memories, this was the first time he'd defended me in front of Norman and the others. "Why did you take that slap for me?" I asked. Felix found a spot to sit down in my room, looking all proud and stubborn. "It's not like I did it on purpose ... "If I dared to stand there, I could guarantee he wouldn't hurt me," I said calmly. "But in that situation, you shouldn't have rushed out recklessly. It just causes unnecessary trouble for both of us." Felix looked up at me in disbelief, clearly unable to comprehend what I was saying. In the past, I would never allow my subordinates to act impulsively, because that was one of the easiest ways to lead to failure. Felix's behavior seemed completely unnecessary to me. Instead, he just ended up taking a slap for nothing.Looking at the red swelling on his face, I went to rummage through the cabinet for the first aid kit. "Thora." "What is it?" "I'm your real brother, not some stranger." Felix's voice was soft, so soft it sounded almost careful. My movements paused, then I continued taking out the first aid kit. "Are you mad at me for not helping you before?" Felix kept his head down, talking to himself. I walked over and stopped in front of him. "No." I wasn't. And the original Thora hadn't been either. "I never blamed you, because it wasn't your fault."Hearing this, a glimmer of light suddenly flickered in Felix's eyes. Though my concept of familial bonds was vague, I could sense how much the original Thora cared about Felix. In her memories, they'd once been close, but gradually drifted apart under the pressure of their family environment. The original Thora hadn't had the ability to protect him and could only watch. He'd also grown distant from her due to misunderstandings. "Don't be reckless and impulsive in the future. I can protect myself, and I can protect you too. Understand?" I dabbed ointment onto a cotton swab and gently applied it to Felix's cheek. Though his awakened wolf spirit could heal him, Norman's wolf-powered slap wasn't light. Medicine would help it heal faster. "Hiss—" Felix grimaced in pain. "Tough it out."Felix endured the pain, though his face contorted even more. "Thora, I'm sorry." His low voice sounded a bit muffled, like he had a stuffy nose. The corner of my mouth lifted, but I said nothing. I just lightened my touch a bit, and the anguish on Felix's face eased considerably. After applying the medicine, I started chasing him out. "You can go back to your own room now." But instead of leaving, he started looking around my room. "Thora, did you move an entire gym into your bedroom or something?" I glanced at the equipment and said flatly, "These machines are too light. I can only do basic workouts with them." That's why I had to get out of this house as soon as possible. Find a place outside where I could intensify my physical training, speed up my ability recovery, and wait for Amie to wake up. Just as that thought crossed my mind, my phone suddenly vibrated in my pocket. I pulled out my phone and saw the message that popped up on the screen. I couldn't help but smile. Talk about perfect timing. This will solve my immediate problem.
