The Apocalypse Wolf Queen

Chapter 36 Back from the Dead

Thora's POV: On the way back home with Felix, I couldn't help but sigh. "Tell me, was Grandpa blind back in the day or something? How else would he arrange a marriage between me and such a petty, small-minded man who can only throw tantrums?" If this were the apocalypse, someone like Caleb would've been dead at my hands long ago. Looks like I need to meet with Marlon sooner rather than later. Even if Caleb didn't break off the engagement, I had to destroy this arrangement myself. Felix asked cautiously, "Thora, are you still going to get engaged to Caleb? He and Hazel ... " "Whatever's going on with them is none of my business." The original Thora used to be head over heels for Caleb, but I only felt disgust toward him. I'd be thrilled if he and Hazel stayed locked together forever and left me alone. "Grrrr ... " Suddenly an awkward sound broke the silence. I glanced at Felix through the rearview mirror. "Hungry?" He nodded sheepishly. There was a burger joint up ahead. From my memories, he loved this chain's shrimp burgers. I pulled over to the side. "Wait here. I'll go grab something." "Okay." Just as I finished buying the food, a faint scent of blood hit my nostrils. I looked up and spotted a man and woman carrying food, hurrying out of the fast food restaurant. The bulge at their waists, along with the metallic gleam barely visible under their clothing, had the unmistakable outline of firearms I'd seen countless times in the apocalypse. Though gun ownership was legal in the Astralis Empire, except for police and those with concealed carry permits, open carry wasn't allowed in public places. But I was just being cautious. I wasn't interested in those two and headed back with the food. "Get lost!" I heard Felix's voice from far away. Thinking he'd run into trouble again, I hurried over. "What's going on?" As I approached, I saw two shabbily dressed homeless people on the ground, clinging desperately to Felix's legs. "Sir, please give us some money. You can afford a fancy sports car like this. Surely you can spare some change." "I just ran into a couple of beggars," Felix said, finally managing to pull his legs free. "Here, take the money and get lost!" He pulled out two bills from his clothes, ready to toss them over. I quickly grabbed his wrist. Something about these two on the ground seemed familiar. I stepped forward for a closer look. The two people on the ground also raised their heads toward me. The moment they saw my face clearly, their eyes went wide with terror. "Ahh! A ghost!" They screamed and scrambled backward, stumbling and falling several times before getting up and running away. They didn't even want the money anymore. "Stay here. Wait for me." I shoved the food at Felix and immediately gave chase. I remembered now. These two were the Rogues Hazel had hired to gang rape the original Thora! There had been three of them total. I had killed one on the spot. These were the remaining two. They ran frantically until they ducked into a narrow alley and finally stopped to catch their breath. "Boss, she ... she's supposed to be dead! You confirmed it yourself," one of them stammered in fear. "No ... no, that person just now was male. Last time we dealt with was a female!" the Rogue Boss said. Hearing their words, my eyes grew colder. As I suspected, I hadn't misidentified them. They were the murderers who killed the original Thora.I slowly revealed myself, my voice icy. "Done running?" The two Rogues immediately backed away in terror. "Who ... who the hell are you?" I let out a cold laugh, slowly closing in on them. "Don't tell me you've forgotten. A month ago, you were the ones who made me fall off that cliff?" "Impossible! She's dead!" They refused to believe it, but the terror in their eyes had already given them away. I looked them up and down. Both had their fingers cut off. Their balance while walking was terrible, and clearly something was wrong with their lower bodies too. I secretly wrapped them in my ability, and discovered that the soulstones in their bodies that housed their wolf spirits had shattered. Without the soulstones to support them, their wolf spirits had naturally disappeared completely.Who would use such ruthless methods? Though I had to admit, I loved it!
