The Apocalypse Wolf Queen

Chapter 32 Retreat Isn't Surrender

Thora's POV: Amie was still dormant, so my current state was indeed like someone who hadn't awakened their wolf, but my abilities made up more for that. Even without using my abilities, relying on the close combat experience from the apocalypse alone, I could still take down those five street thugs. "The Greens are a military werewolf pack. Even without an awakened wolf spirit, you should still have the basics of combat." I continued following the navigation as I drove. "Also, if you want to call me something, call me Thora." "Thora," he called out to me, his tone flat. From the corner of my eye, I caught him pressing his lips together, trying hard to suppress the smile tugging at the corners of his mouth, and I couldn't help but smirk. What a proud little brat. After a moment, he spoke up again. "Aren't you going to ask why I got into a fight with them?" "Why?" I asked, following his lead. I could sense that he seemed to be deliberately trying to get my attention. Only then did he purse his lips and speak. "A while back, some guy from outside school was bullying a girl from our school. I happened to see it, so I helped out and chased that punk off. Who knew that today when I was heading to class, that jerk and his crew would corner me." I made a sound of agreement. "Why didn't you tell them who you are?" If those people knew he was from the Greens of Silverleaf Pack, they definitely wouldn't have touched him. At that, he suddenly raised his voice. "I'm not using my family name to push people around, what kind of skill is that? I'm going to make them back down with my own ability, that's real skill!" I turned my head to glance at Felix, his handsome profile full of proud disdain. I chuckled softly. "You've got guts, I'll give you that." Having backbone had its benefits, but it also made you vulnerable. To me, as long as I achieved my goal, I didn't need to worry too much about the small stuff. "Next time you run into a situation like this, if you can't win, just run." Felix frowned. "Run? What kind of man does that ... " "Before you have enough strength, running is just a means of preserving your ability to fight another day. There's no shame in it." "Really?" His tone still carried defiance."Of course." I kept my eyes on the road ahead, deliberately bringing up Grandpa's book. "Did you forget that book in Grandpa's study room, 'Classic Werewolf Battle Tactics'? 30 years ago when Silverleaf Pack faced off against the rampaging Storm Pack, they used tactical retreats to avoid the initial assault. They waited for the enemy to exhaust themselves, then counterattacked and took down their leader. If our ancestors used those tactics, is it really something to be ashamed of?" Felix didn't argue back. His fingertips unconsciously rubbed against the seatbelt, clearly taking in what I'd said, slowly falling into thought. ... Ten minutes later, I dropped Felix off at the place where he took his classes. It was a high-end firearms shooting club. According to the original Thora's memories, the instructors here were mostly retired werewolf soldiers, high-ranking officers, or snipers skilled in combat shooting. And those who came here for lessons were all werewolf nobles. Hazel had wanted to take classes here before, but her mother always said, "females learning to shoot is pointless, better to latch onto a powerful male." Hazel couldn't handle the training either and quit after just two days. What a waste of her pureblood talent. Although Felix's wolf spirit rank wasn't as high as Hazel's, I believed that with his dedication, surpassing her was only a matter of time. "Hey, do you have anything going on later?" Felix asked as he unbuckled his seatbelt. I raised an eyebrow at him. "If you don't have anything to do, you could come in with me," he said, then immediately added, "Of course I'm not inviting you! I'm just giving you a chance to check the place out since you drove me here.""Let's go." I interrupted his explanation with a soft laugh, unbuckling my seatbelt and getting out of the car with him. The sound of gunfire from inside the shooting club, even muffled through several layers of soundproofing, made my fingertips tingle with excitement. This familiar sound had me barely able to contain my eagerness. God knows what guns meant to a soldier. They weren't just tools for survival. After years of companionship, they were inseparable comrades and partners. So I immediately agreed to go with Felix. Besides, I was curious to see what level these shooting instructors, these so-called Astralis Empire officers and snipers, could actually reach. Felix led the way and I followed behind him. As we passed through the club's entrance, Felix pulled out a keycard and swiped it. The door automatically opened. The moment I stepped inside, I felt the sensation of being watched. I frowned and swept my gaze over the security cameras on the ceiling. Though I didn't know who was watching, I was certain of one thing. Someone was monitoring us ...
