The Apocalypse Wolf Queen

Chapter 33 Caught on Camera

Hugo's POV: I sat in the main hall of the villa behind the shooting club, watching dozens of split-screen monitors cycling through the trainees' performance data. My purpose here was crystal clear—to screen talent for the military's newly formed special operations unit. The urgency stemmed from two reasons. First, I wanted to cultivate prospects from these trainees who could get into Blue Star Military Academy to study top-tier military strategy. Second, there was a highly classified reason—the Astralis Empire's space observation department had recently detected an anomalous space-time rift. The energy fluctuations leaking from the rift had intensity and characteristics that far exceeded any known limits of our current timeline. The Astralis Empire had to race against time to assemble and train this special unit, so we could build an impenetrable defense line before the potential threat from another dimension truly arrived. Though I'd already poached several excellent young people from various military departments, it still wasn't enough. Moreover, soldiers who'd served too long might have excellent military discipline, but they often lost that edge of thinking outside the box. I needed to bring in some fresh blood who could surprise me. "Mr. Stanton, here are the profiles of all the club's trainees," the club manager reported respectfully. I nodded, my gaze sweeping across the screens as data updated in real time—height, weight, preferred firearms, ring scores, sniper aptitude ratings. Every metric was crucial for screening. Just then, the monitor at the far edge suddenly displayed new data. "Name: Felix Green. Height: 5'11". Weight: 132 lbs. Age: 15. Wolf spirit awakened: Yes. Preferred firearms: M4, small caliber handgun. Average ring score: 9.5. Average reload time: 2.0 seconds." I raised an eyebrow. For a 15-year-old to have these results, he was a pretty promising material. But the next second, my attention was drawn to the young person beside Felix. The moment he walked through the door, his gaze swept quickly over the security cameras on the ceiling, then glanced at the keycard in Felix's hand, the corner of his lips curving. "What incredible counter-surveillance abilities!" I couldn't help but exclaim, enlarging the monitor on the edge. The access keycards carried by club members would display all their information on my monitors the moment they swiped in. That newcomer had caught onto this detail instantly. Such awareness was exceptionally rare. "Who's the young person with Felix?" I asked the manager beside me. The manager stepped forward to look. "I'm ... not sure. They're not one of our trainees though. It's probably their first time here." I narrowed my eyes. That young person beside Felix—her behavior, walking gait, and exceptional counter-surveillance abilities only matched one profession—a soldier. So compared to Felix, I was actually more interested in the young person at his side. ... Thora's POV:I followed Felix into the shooting range, where gunfire immediately erupted in rapid succession. The range was enormous. Each person had their own training area, and the facility was divided into regular shooting zones and sniper training zones, all fully equipped. "Mr. Green," a club staff member respectfully handed Felix a case. When opened, it contained Felix's usual firearms and ammunition. "Thanks," Felix said, starting to put on his gloves. Once Felix had assumed the standard grip position, he pulled the trigger. Immediately, the smell of gunpowder drifted over from the target area. "9.8 rings," I said approvingly. "Not bad." Felix's face lit up with a hint of pride as he continued practicing his shots. "You need to lower your shoulder a bit more and relax your left arm. That should help," I pointed out after watching a round of his shooting. Felix looked at me with confusion but still followed my instructions and fired again. "10 rings." The screen in the distance displayed the score. He smiled at me, looking like he wanted praise. "But your wolf spirit hasn't reached maturity yet, so your arm strength can't handle the recoil from a sniper rifle. Maintaining this stance long-term will exhaust you, which means for now you can only practice basic shooting. You can't be a sniper," I stated matter-of-factly. The smile immediately dropped from Felix's face as he muttered softly, "Is it really that hard to give me one compliment?" I ignored his grumbling and examined the firearms laid out here.Though these guns weren't as advanced as the models from the apocalypse, the principles were the same. "Felix!" Just then, several guys walked over in a group, calling out to Felix. I looked up, and when I spotted a familiar figure among them, I frowned.
