When the Galaxy Wept

Chapter 51 Why Do You Want To Save Us?

Having listened to their talk, Emerald found they were a peculiar group. Compared to the ordinary people on the street, some of them dressed better than others, but all of them were smart and energetic. Standing with them, Emerald could feel the sense of justice and courage in their blood. They were talking about Master Yearwood, who was captured by the “monster” last night. It seemed that after the appearance of the “monster,” the soldiers had organized the patrol by themselves to look around the suburbs and downtown. Where Emerald had fallen, the first time, was the place where the Master patrolled. Rumor had it that the Master fought the Cheetah bravely by his flesh. But their lengthy talk ended with no conclusion. Some said the princess had been asked to help since she had admired the Master for a long time; some suggested poisoning the “monster.” Some said only God could help them... Emerald listened for a while then left. This time she bought a horse to ride back to the hill where the Cheetah was hidden. She arrived in less than half an hour. After tying the horse to a tree, she thoughtfully stepped into the cave, went into the Cheetah, and turned on the light. “Monster?” A low voice resounded, neither hasty nor slow. Emerald turned around, seeing a man sitting on the floor quietly. His handsome face, which was full of inquiries, had no trace of shock or horror. “I am human.” Emerald stripped off her cloak and took out the gun. She walked to him. “I can save you.” The man looked at her from head to toe, then nodded. “You don’t have a tail. I believe you’re a human.” Emerald paused for a while before she said. “There is no monster at all. The truth is that humans from another world intend to invade you. I am Emerald Wilson.” “Another world?” The man frowned, “I’m Yearwood.” Emerald was obviously not good at explaining the galaxy and space leap to ancient people. But she had prepared and opened the screen on the Cheetah to play a space video that recorded her navigation. It didn’t matter how much of it he would be able to understand. The twelve-minute video made Yearwood frown. In the end, he took a deep breath. Emerald waited quietly. He nodded to her after a long silence. “I see. You are from heaven. But why do you want to save us?” Emerald had no evidence to prove her sincerity. She forced a smile. “This is my hometown, but...I was abducted secretly, just like the Crown Princess.” She didn’t anticipate Yearwood’s calmness on hearing her explanation. “I believe you.” He stared at her. “You have pure eyes. And you didn’t kill me last night.” “I don’t mind if you believe it or not,” Emerald said. She pointed to the big box, the size of half a man in the rear of the cabinet. “Those are ten nuclear bombs. Not enough to destroy the whole planet but enough to destroy the water and mines. You can use them to threaten the people above the sky and ask them to leave and not to touch here, or else they will get nothing.” Yearwood didn’t understand anything. she said, just as expected. After Emerald played the video clip of nuclear bombs, he nodded his head in uncertainty. “All or nothing?” Emerald nodded. “My plane alone...this flying thing, can destroy all your troops, not to mention the several hundred in the sky. You have no other choice.” “I should discuss it with the Crown Princess.” Yearwood looked serious. “She said that we will never surrender.” “You should do it quickly then,” Emerald said. “I need at least half a day to bury these bombs. We don’t know when they will attack.” Yearwood nodded and looked at his hands, “Miss Wilson, could you untie me?” Emerald glanced at the metal handcuffs, “I’m afraid not. You look like a good fighter.” Emerald believed that physical exercise and Kungfu would strengthen one’s combat skills. But she never believed it when it came to flying and running on the wall and splitting rocks with hands like in the TV. Yearwood nodded, “Then I’ll unlock it by myself.” Crack with the clear sound, Emerald saw the metal handcuffs unlock and break into pieces by themselves in his hands, which could not even be done through bombs. At the next moment, the man jumped at Emerald like a cheetah. Different from all the fighters Emerald had encountered, he was as powerful as lightning and as swift as the wind. Within seconds, he stood close to Emerald, and his burning breath was just around her neck, his hand clasping her neck. “I’m sorry.” His eyes were deep like stars in the sky. Perhaps for the close distance, he moved his face away from her and said. “I do not intend to believe you. But, you said you once lived here, as long as the Ministry of Revenue verifies that, I will persuade the princess to do as you have told.” Emerald was quiet for a moment and said, “Okay. But could you first release me? I didn’t learn Kungfu, so I am too weak to fight you, and it seems inappropriate for a man and a woman to act like us.” Yearwood touched her wrist swiftly as lightning. He thought for a second and nodded. “Fine.” He released her neck at once and stepped back. “Bang!” A slight sound. Emerald was expressionless. Yearwood’s left leg trembled, and his hand covered it at once, but blood was seeping through his fingers. His dark eyes were full of anger. “Are you using a secret weapon on me?”Emerald’s gun aimed at his heart. “Soldier, I don’t like to be controlled by others. If I wait for you to verify who I am, the planes in the sky will occupy all your key resources. Could you act like a man? Or I’ll go to the Crown Princess myself. A man like you is even more indecisive than a woman. Believe me or not, you can tell me now. I am here to save you because this was my hometown, and I don’t want to see your resources being... occupied by him. Your life means nothing to me.” Emerald’s words made the man frown. He nodded in the end. “You are right. I doubted you at first, my fault. I believe you now.”
