When the Galaxy Wept
This man was incredible. With his bare fist, he had almost smashed the aerospace material, which was stronger than metal. This was also an extremely resolute man. He was shot standing there, but he only frowned from the pain, with his eyes still set on Emerald as if he was trying to figure out what she looked like under that mask and who the intruder really was. The Cheetah, which represented the military power of Eternity Galaxy, overpowered the tough man who closed his eyes and fell over to the ground after a few seconds. The men behind him who were hiding in the forest all threw their arrows and immediately ran away. Ten minutes later, Emerald repaired the glass with emergency materials and then sat in the cabin, eating her dry food and looking at the man who was tied and handcuffed by the alloy in the rear cabin. His companions had left him, so Emerald could arrest him and dragged him to the plane before she found a more concealed and safer place... in a cave halfway in the hill. She believed it would take them a long time before they would find her since the forest was so big. The man was about 6 feet tall. His body was firm, well-shaped, but not broad-shouldered. He lay on the ground, and somehow the spacious rear cabin seemed crowded. In the dim light of the cabin, the man looked handsome with his lively vigor and innocent beauty. His dark, thick eyebrows looked sharp and calm even when he closed his eyes. Who was this man? There were several grazes on his body, but he wasn’t shot at all. Emerald was surprised to find that the heavy fire barely hurt him. It was the plane’s crush, not the grazes, that made him faint. After treating his wounds, Emerald took the black cloak that she found on the ground and got well-armed. She left the forest and walked to the city. Emerald met some strangers along the way, some of whom were relaxed while others seemed to be in a hurry. Emerald was shocked when she saw their clothes, but she still pretended to be calm so that no one would notice her. Only a few people looked at her long hair over the shoulder. After about three hours, she finally saw the skyline of the city. She took a deep breath when she saw the continuous steel-grey wall and the blackboard embedded in the city gate tower. The font of the two square traditional Chinese characters was so familiar to Emerald that she thought of a stretch of history. “Chang ‘an.” Standing there in a daze, a man with a big smile on his face came to her. The young man had sharp eyes and thin lips with two small tufts of mustache and was wearing sackcloth, pants, and square cap. “Miss, is this the first time you come to Chang’an? Are you looking for a hotel? My Jade Hotel is the cleanest and most economical place.” He said in a hurry when he saw Emerald frown. “My hotel is unique even in the whole Tang Dynasty...” Emerald could understand almost every word, even though he had a strong Chinese accent. Emerald felt her blood was going to freeze. Tang Dynasty? Chang’an? Over a thousand years ago? **** Emerald stood on a bustling street. The things around her seemed stranger than the Eternity Galaxy when she first woke up there. The street peddlers all had weathered faces, displaying the vicissitude of this city and their expectation of a well-off life. Most houses along the streets were low and made of logs. There were several big houses with red walls, black tiles, and two stone imposing lions standing in front of the door.Emerald traded the gold coin in her pocket for clothes, food, and a sharp sword. She knew from the owner of the clothes shop that it was the “Wen Qi,” year of the Tang Dynasty. The emperor had died recently, and the Crown Princess was in reign. Emerald had majored in science back in college, which meant she didn’t know the dynasty, era name, and the major events. The shop owner was still in horror when talking about what had happened three days ago---it was said that some black gigantic “monster” fell from the sky and destroyed half of the imperial palace with a “mysterious force.” The monster could “speak “strange language which no one could understand. No one knew what had happened or what to do next. All they could do was beg for forgiveness from god. At this critical moment, the Crown Princess had stood out and ordered the troops to fight back with slings and arrows. The monsters had been shocked as expected after a short silence, but they had abducted the Crown Princess who had been standing on the towers. It was said that the Crown Princess had been released yesterday afternoon, but no one knew what she had suffered. Everyone in the country celebrated their heroine. The troops imposed a curfew, and numerous soldiers were protecting the country. The ordinary people were shocked and frightened by the monster, but they didn’t believe it would destroy the country. Emerald didn’t understand why Patrick had let go of the princess. If he was interested in the princess, he would have kept her, but he had let her go so soon, just as he had done to Emerald. There was no doubt that Emerald must find the Crown Princess. Just thinking about it made her feel uneasy. She had disenchanted Emerald’s fantasy. And the disenchantment made her upset, although she tried to ignore it. At a second thought, Emerald understood that the Crown Princess was just like herself, who had to beg for Patrick’s mercy. To some degree, the Crown Princess was more powerful than her, which made her feel helpless but relieved at the same time. How could she feel jealous of her? The streets were filled with armed people who all hurried in the same direction. There were beautiful girls with swords, monks, nuns, and beggars with clubs... On second thought, Emerald decided to follow them. They soon arrived at a huge black courtyard, which was overcrowded with people. Because Emerald changed her clothes, the soldiers didn’t notice anything strange. Someone even talked nicely to her. “I Miss, KONGTONG is in the western room.” But Emerald didn’t dare to go there, so she stayed at the corner of the yard.
