When the Galaxy Wept

Chapter 52 I Will Kill You

He raised his right hand. “I swear that I will be honest with you. If I violate my promises, I’ll die in my boots.” He stared directly into Emerald’s eyes. Emerald changed the topic instantly. “How will you persuade the Crown Princess to believe me?” Yearwood was serious. “I will warrant my life.” He continued. “But if you violate today’s oath, I will kill you.” Emerald glanced at him. “When did I swear?” Then she ignored him and took bandages and antiphlogistic drugs from the medicine box next to her and gave them to him. “Cure yourself.” Yearwood felt speechless for her denying the oath and shook his head after a moment. “I don’t know how to.” Emerald had only learned the simple treatment. But she rolled up the sleeves and cut off his black pants above the wound on his leg. Fortunately, she had used a peashooter with little lethality, and he had evaded swiftly. Unfortunately, the bullet was just on the surface. “You’re lucky that I can do it.” She said without looking up at him. “Painful? I am afraid you have to get over it.” She wiped the wound with alcohol and heard his breath deepen. “I’ll be quick. Take it easy.” She carefully pulled the bullet out using tweezers and quickly wiped some antiphlogistic medicine before applying the bandage to the wound. When finishing this process, she was sweating. After putting the gauze with blood aside, she remembered she had forgotten to use an anesthetic.... Astonished, she looked up at Yearwood. Hadn’t he even mentioned the pain? Unexpectedly, there was no sign of pain on the man’s face at all. What it had was a blush under his thick bushy eyebrows; his eyes were full of shyness. He looked at Emerald quietly. “Anything wrong?” Emerald was confused. The man looked at his leg outside the pants, and her delicate hands tainted with his blood and said with a blushed face, “You’re... good.” **** The sun was strong, and the forest was quiet. A black horse was tied to a tree. Emerald threw her bag to the saddle, climbed onto the horse, turned her head, and reached out her hand. “Come on.” Yearwood had been standing behind her and limped out of the cave. When he saw Emerald’s hand, he paused and said. “Thank you, Miss.” Then he pushed his hands lightly against the back of the horse and jumped on the horse without her help, even though one of his legs was hurt. Emerald believed now that he knew the art of Kungfu, though it was hard to understand and beyond her knowledge of science. The two were quiet as they rode down the narrow mountain road, and they could only hear the clapping sound of the horse’s hoofs. After a while, Yearwood broke the silence. “Miss Wilson, in a while, some people will show up to rescue me. After I woke up today, I contacted several soldiers of our clan. I think we should only let the Crown Princess know who you are to protect you and tell the others that you saved me.” Emerald simply replied with an “Okay.” Yearwood Lynch might be stubborn and naive, but he was brave and careful. After walking for about ten minutes, they heard an obtrusive bird singing. Before Emerald saw any people, Yearwood’s warm breath was already sprayed on her neck, and he said in a low voice, “They’re here, and the Crown Princess is also here.” Emerald was surprised. Now she knew that the Crown Princess must really care about Yearwood. Before she got down from the horse, she suddenly heard something with a loud sound fly swiftly to her. A hand was holding her waist stable, and her back was pressed against a warm chest. Suddenly, the world was spinning around. Several blasts of wind, which might kill her immediately, passed by her ears and cheeks. As soon as Emerald stood on the ground, she pulled out her gun to fire up. But Yearwood, who was behind her, suddenly shouted, “No!” Then the black shadow jumped up to the sky, and three people then jumped to them. Emerald finally could see three strong men she had seen in the city. They were surprised that Yearwood tried to protect Emerald, so they stopped attacking her and stepped back. “Master!” They folded hands in front of them to salute Yearwood. “Who told you to do this?” Yearwood asked angrily. “I did.” A sweet but cold voice said. Emerald looked behind Yearwood and saw a team of armed soldiers walk out of the forest. In the center of the soldiers, the small, pretty girl she had seen that day on the spaceship was the Crown Princess. She was wearing a black dress with golden lines and walked towards them with a cold face. Her clothes made her appear paler and prettier. “Your Highness.” Yearwood was surprised. “I saw her at the monster’s place.” The princess said coldly. “Yearwood, do you know what you are doing?” Emerald realized that maybe the girl had seen her hide in the restroom from the alley yesterday at the space fortress. She was crueler than she looked, commanding her subordinates to kill her without asking anything. “No. I can guarantee with my head,” Yearwood’s sonorous voice resounded through the whole forest, “that Emerald is neither a spy nor a monster. She is here to save us. Your highness, please withdraw your order.”The forest suddenly fell into silence. The princess’s voice came from far away. “It seems that I have made a wrong decision since Yearwood can guarantee for you.” Yearwood nodded sullenly, and the princess continued, “I was dragged away by the monsters, which was a humiliation I have never experienced before, so please don’t blame me for being impulsive, Yearwood.” Before Yearwood could say anything, Emerald felt uncomfortable. She felt her chest tight and her throat sore. She tightened her hand, which was holding the gun, and the idea of killing her flashed through her mind, then she suddenly felt like mocking herself. Yearwood kept silent for a while and said, “Your highness, it’s my fault that someone so weak as you was humiliated.” Then he changed his attitude. “But, your highness, as the proverb goes. Do not do to others as you will not have done to you. Let alone Miss Wilson is here to help us.”
