Chapter 50 Parallel Universe Kitchen Appliance and Storage Pack

“So, can you finally pack up my clothes for me now?” Christopher walked toward the shopkeepers and asked. “Oh, yes! Of course!” At this point, the shopkeepers, who had previously looked down on Christopher, now hurriedly packed his clothes up for him—even the way they looked at him was also completely different. “How much was it again? 260,000?” Hearing Christopher’s question, Jane answered hurriedly, “Oh. No, sir. It’d be 110,000 only.” After all that, she dared not to use Rose’s price anymore and told him the actual price instead. Without saying anything further, Christopher swiftly took his card out and entered this password to pay for the clothes that were worth 110,000. Seeing how Christopher had used his card so readily, Jane couldn't help but be envious of Samantha. How nice would it be if I had a boyfriend who was willing to spend this much money and would stand up for me this way! When Christopger walked out of the mall with shopping bags in one hand and Samantha’s hand in another, she was still in a daze, as if she couldn’t fathom what had just happened in the shop. It wasn't until Christopher had waved his hand in front of her face that she came back to her senses. “Christopher, are you really just a cook?” Samantha eyed Christopher and asked seriously. “Why do you ask? What’s wrong?” Hearing her sudden question, he answered while looking at her lovingly. “Nothing’s wrong. It’s just that—” Immediately knowing what she was thinking about, Christopher interrupted quickly, “I am indeed a cook, but I am not just any other ordinary cook.” Around 6.00PM, Christopher went back to his rental after sending Samantha home. As soon as he reached home, he impatiently turned on his computer. Well, since I have spent the money to buy gifts for Samantha, I guess it’s time for me to convert the rest of the money in this card to thumbs-up points. In order to not attract any unwanted attention from others because of the huge amount of donations which could end up causing him unwanted trouble, Christopher had purposely looked out for five different charity organizations to make his donation. He didn’t use up all of his money as each one of the charity organizations ended up with 3 million. When he finally made the donation to the last one, he noticed his total number of thumbs-ups had reached a staggering 160,000. After the number of thumbs-ups was finally enough, Christopher took out his phone without any hesitation and went directly to the Thumbs-Up Online Mall, where he then clicked on the ‘redeem’ button under the option of Parallel Universe Kitchen Appliance and Storage Pack. “Ding! Congratulations, Host! You have redeemed the Parallel Universe Kitchen Appliance and Storage Pack.” As usual, the automated alert tone rang in his head again. After the automated alert tone had stopped prompting, a white light flashed on his phone screen, and a black package—seemingly a sack—appeared in his hand out of the blue. The package looked like it came from a different era, and the texture of it felt rough, as if it was made out of sandpaper. Christopher had finally redeemed the storage pack that he wanted, but seeing how it looked, he immediately complained in his heart, This is what I get for spending 100,000 thumbs-up and 10 million dollars? Is this really all I get!? If I had known this useless piece of sh*t was what I was going to get for this many thumbs-ups, I might as well have used them on the lottery; at least I would've been able to draw something useful out of it. “What a scam!” Christopher raised his voice and shouted to the ceiling. However, as he was about to put away the Parallel Universe Kitchen Appliance and Storage Pack that he had just redeemed, another swift ding rang out. The familiar automated alert tone that only belonged to the Thumbs-Up System rang again in his head. “Parallel Universe Kitchen Appliance and Storage Pack has been detected. Host, please select the kitchen appliances to be stored.” “Select kitchen appliances?” Hearing these confusing words, Christopher was stunned for a moment. However, not long after that, he began to look around before fixing his gaze on the iron pot he hung on the wall. “Okay. I have selected the appliance. Now what?” Just as Christopher wondered what the next step would be, a whooshing sound rang in his head, whereupon the pot that was originally hanging on the wall disappeared into thin air. Wait, what? “Huh? What…” Christopher found this unbelievable, so he rubbed his eyes vigorously, thinking he was merely hallucinating instead. But when he casted his gaze over at the wall again, he confirmed that the pot had indeed disappeared. Right now, only a circular trace of the pot mouth was left on the white wall. What the f*ck? Christopher had shock written all over his face. How could a pot disappear just like that? Just as his confusion at the situation reached its peak, the automated alert tones rang in his head again. “A rusty and old iron pot was detected. Host, would you like to store it?” Do I want to store it? Christopher was taken aback again. Even though he wasn’t exactly sure what happened, he still mumbled ‘confirm’ in his heart while still in a daze. Ding! The automated tone rang in his head again. “One rusty old pot has been stored. One compartment in the Parallel Universe Kitchen Appliance and Storage Pack has been used. The remaining usable compartment is eleven. Host, you may continue to choose the kitchen appliances that you wish to store.”Now that the pot was stored, Christopher fell back into confusion and thought, What is this compartment limitation about? Why do I feel like this is like the ‘backpack’ function in most online games? Wait—could it be that the function of this storage pack is for me to store kitchen appliances and then bring them out of nowhere and use them? Damn! Then isn’t this the same as the ‘storage ring’ in countless fantasy novels? Wow, this is good stuff! As soon as this thought crossed his mind, Christopher couldn't help but get excited. At least he now knew the 100,000 thumbs-ups he had spent were not in vain. Like a child who had just received his favourite toy, Christopher wandered around in the kitchen again, trying to store more kitchen appliances. Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! It was almost as if whenever he took a look at a certain appliance, it would disappear immediately along with the alert, ‘Are you sure you would like to store it?’, that prompted in his mind. He was storing them, taking them out, then storing them again repeatedly—like a child, Christopher had a great time playing with this new ‘toy’ that he had just gotten. Besides, this storage pack was indeed for kitchen appliances only. In fact, Christopher had tried to store things other than normal kitchen appliances like pots, bowls, knives, spoons, and so on in the Parallel Universe Kitchen Appliance and Storage Pack, but it didn’t work at all. Furthermore, he had also found that the storage unit was solely based on the number of appliances he wished to store in it, not the size. Well, isn’t this just fantastic! Even though there were limitations to the things he could store, this storage pack was a technology that was simply out of this world! With this thought in mind, Christopher picked up the black sack that was the Parallel Universe Kitchen Appliance and Storage Pack from his sofa and began to grin to himself. Turns out it makes sense for this to cost 100,000 thumbs-up after all. I bet no matter how many times I draw the lottery, I wouldn’t be able to draw something as useful as this. After all, although it only cost 100 thumbs-up for each lottery draw, it was too uncertain and random. Only God knew what exactly he would be able to draw each time—it might be blank again, just like before. “Hmm, but is that it?” At this moment, Christopher touched his chin and mumbled to himself again. It was indeed good enough that this pack was able to store any appliances that he wanted, but he felt that there was more to this Parallel Universe Kitchen Appliance and Storage Pack than merely storing things. “What else could it be used for?” Frowning deeply, Christopher looked at the old-fashioned sack beside him and mumbled again.
