God-Tier Like System

Chapter 36 You Are Forbidden From Smiling!

In other words, after saving Samantha’s mother, the System rewarded him with 10,000 points. This meant that he was rich! In short, with the thumbs-up points in hand, there was nothing that he couldn’t do. Although he had only had a few hours sleep last night, Christopher’s spirits were flying high now and he was exhilarated. Humming a song, he arrived at The Serenade. It was as if Scarlett had been staring at the entrance while waiting for Christopher’s arrival. The moment he stepped foot into The Serenade, she popped out from nowhere and said, “You are late!” Am I late? He took out his phone and noticed that it was almost 11.00 AM, which proved that he was indeed late, so he replied, “Okay.” Okay? Scarlett was pissed upon hearing that. What does he mean by ‘okay’? Is this the attitude he should display as an employee who has arrived at work late? How could he be so calm when he is late? “I am going to cut your pay!” she threatened. “Okay.” Christopher repeated. It was not surprising for him to act this way because if he were to convert his thumbs-up points into cents and dollars, he would now be a millionaire with a net worth of two million, so it would only be natural for him to not care about the low salary. His couldn’t-care-less attitude completely enraged her but there was nothing she could do. Gritting her teeth, she glared at him for forever, as if she wished that she could swallow him alive. It was only after a long while that she left with an angry expression. Although Christopher had pissed Scarlett off, he continued to wear an indifferent expression. With Luna—the female director of The Serenade—taking his side, he was not afraid of Chef Sparks! After working for a while in the morning, it was break time. It seemed that Luna was not in the restaurant today. When he passed by the general manager’s office, he took a peek into the office through the window and failed to find the beauty. In the afternoon, Christopher took a nap in the lounge. When he woke up, he found Scarlett staring unblinkingly at him. Truth was, Scarlett was a different kind of woman from Luna and Samantha. If one were to describe Luna as an ice queen and Samantha as an innocent goddess, Scarlett could be described as a mischievous Lolita. Truth be told, in terms of looks and figures, Scarlett was on par with Luna or Samantha. Although they were different kinds of beauty, the three of them each had their own characteristics and they were evenly matched. Nonetheless, this girl had quite a temper and more importantly, she kept picking on him and was quite unfriendly to him. Hence, seeing her at a distance so close to him made Christopher subconsciously take a step back before he vigilantly asked, “What do you want?” “Hmph!” His reaction made the petulant girl turn her head to one side and leave without saying anything, rendering him speechless. If this woman intends to pick on a man’s fault, there really is no end to it. In the evening, the kitchen was buzzy and Christopher was focusing on his task at hand. He initially thought that the four Culinary Skills that he had only represented his cooking proficiency, but he never thought that he would be able to make something as high-level as the Hippocrates Soup. Knowing that he would eventually gain recipes with all sorts of benefits in the future, the most important task for him now would definitely be to level up. “Ding! Congratulations to the Host! Your Knife Skills proficiency has increased. Experience +2.” “Ding! Congratulations to the Host! Your Fire Skills proficiency has increased. Experience +2.” “Ding! Congratulations to the Host—” When he was busy in the kitchen, the notification that his various skills had leveled up rang in his head from time to time, which made his spirit high. On the other hand, Scarlett was extremely pissed when she saw the silly smile on Christopher’s face as he was working—she just could not maintain her composure when she saw him. Smile! Smile! Smile! All you do is smile! You will eventually die from smiling! She cursed inwardly. When she could no longer bear to watch the complacent smile on his face, she yelled at him, “You—come with me!” Is she seeking trouble with me again? Christopher grumbled to himself but he shrugged indifferently and followed Scarlett out of the kitchen. “What’s the matter, Chef Sparks?” He leaned against the wall and looked at her with a smug expression on his face. “What’s the matter?” His frivolous attitude made Scarlett’s blood boil. With her hands placed on her waist, she roared, “Who gave you the permission to grin non-stop when you are at work? Don’t you know that the most important thing about being a chef is to be disciplined? What kind of attitude you were displaying when you kept grinning like that? From now on, you are forbidden from smiling like that when you are in the kitchen!” she commanded in a furious tone. I’m forbidden from smiling? Christopher grimaced, feeling speechless. Don’t you think that your command is a little absurd? I agree that being disciplined is indeed very important as a chef, but it is still kind of unreasonable to forbid one from smiling! “What’s wrong? Are you not happy with my order?” Scarlett asked as she raised an eyebrow upon seeing his dissatisfied expression. “No; definitely not!” Christopher waved his hand. “How could I be unhappy?” What can I say? Judging from her character that demands everyone to listen to her regardless if she is being reasonable or not, it’s better for me to keep quiet and say nothing. Otherwise, God knows what kind of outrageous request she will make again. Upon seeing Christopher’s seemingly sincere attitude, Scarlett was finally satisfied and said, “That’s more like it! Okay; you may get back to work.” With the thought that he should not make a fuss because of the woman’s attitude, at least not in front of her, he raised an eyebrow and returned to the kitchen. Getting off work was always a joy, especially when Christopher could escape the torment of the witch, Scarlett. After removing the chef’s uniform and changing into his own clothes, he boarded a bus and headed toward Quarry Hill Hospital. Samantha’s mother stayed in ward number 305 at the intensive care unit. The intensive care unit was usually quiet and peaceful but now, that was not the case. When Christopher arrived at the floor where Samantha’s mother’s ward was located, he heard a man’s roar coming from the ward. “Where’s the money? D*mn you, girl! Where’s the money? I will beat you to death if you don’t give me the money now!” Although Christopher did not know what was going on, he quickened his pace when he heard the commotion. As soon as he pushed the door open, he saw Samantha being grabbed by her collar by a man. The stranger scowled as he raised his hand up high in an attempt to slap her face. “Stop!” Upon seeing this, Christopher roared at him. He strode toward Samantha and pushed the man away. “What are you doing?” “What the hell?” The man staggered at Christopher’s push. Holding himself up against the wall, he sneered before yelling, “Why are you getting in the way when I am teaching my daughter a lesson? Get lost!”
