With a soft groan, the Infinite Karmic Flame appeared on Christopher’s palm. It was different from the shape that it had taken when he was still a beginner at his Fire Skills. The flame now was as large as a basketball and it showcased the seven colors of the rainbow. With just a thought, the pretty-looking Infinite Karmic Flame engulfed the pot that he had set up. As Christopher knew that his time was running short, he quickly followed the recipe and started whipping up the Hippocrates Soup. The boiling process went smoothly. With the enhancement of the Kitchen God’s status, everything progressed without a single error. When he threw the last herb into the pot, the ordinary-looking medical soup finally had a change. Wisps of radiant golden light specks appeared on the surface of the thick soup. Although Christopher had no idea how it happened, he reckoned that it was light specks that had the effect of raising the dead. It was at this moment that his Kitchen God’s status ended, and the vague illusion of the ethereal old man detached itself from Christopher’s body and disappeared into thin air.At the same time, the golden light specks, which had been visible to him when the Kitchen God descended upon him, disappeared from sight. Now, the Hippocrates Soup seemed like an ordinary medicinal soup without anything special to it. Fatigue swept over him and he suddenly felt weak in his arms and legs, as if all his strength had been drained—it must have been the after-effects of using the Kitchen God’s Descent. Christopher’s body was beyond exhaustion but he felt mentally exhilarated. I have made the Hippocrates Soup, which means that Samantha’s mother can be saved! First, he filled the soup into a thermal food container, then used water to rinse the remaining soup that was on the internal walls of the pot before filling the water into a water bottle. This was all good stuff—even if it was merely water used to rinse the pot, it was still one that contained the leftover of the Hippocrates Soup. Although it could not bring back the dead, curing a cold or flu shouldn’t be a problem. The next day, Christopher took a cab to Quarry Hill Hospital at dawn. When he arrived at the intensive care unit, Samantha, who had woken up, was holding her mother’s hand while praying. The moment she caught sight of Christopher, she rose to her feet. “Chris…” she called out to him. “What’s this?” She was puzzled when she saw the thermal container in his hands. Christopher did not reply to her question and instead asked, “How is your mother’s condition?” “She isn’t well!” She shook her head. “The doctor who performed my mother’s operation yesterday came over to check on her condition, and he said…” She did not finish her sentence but from her expression, Christopher was able to tell what she was about to say. As a matter of fact, he would try to avoid using the Hippocrates Soup if the situation allowed because it might easily expose his secrets. Nevertheless, since things had come to this point, he had no choice but to use it. After taking a deep breath, he said to Samantha, “Samantha, do you trust me?” His sudden seriousness stunned her and it was only after a while that she returned to her senses. Her crystal-clear eyes appraised him for a fleeting moment before she nodded firmly. “Brilliant!” As Christopher was speaking, he handed the thermal container, which contained the Hippocrates Soup, to her. “Feed your mother the soup in the container. It will save her life.”“It will save my mother’s life?” Samantha involuntarily repeated his words. Christopher nodded in response. As it was difficult to explain, he assured her again in a serious tone. “Trust me—it will work miracles!” Miracles? Upon seeing the sincere look on his face, Samantha felt as if all her tensed nerves seemed to loosen a little. That’s right; what I need now is a miracle! And so, she supported her mother to sit up on the bed and she slowly fed her mother the soup with a spoon. Soon, her mother finished the small bowl of soup. When Samantha helped her mother to drink the last spoonful of soup, she was surprised to find that her mother’s pinky, which had long been immobile, suddenly moved. Samantha glanced at Christopher in astonishment before tears of joy rolled down her cheeks. Then, she ran out of the ward and shouted, “Doctor!” … It was rather buzzy in the ward. “This can’t be real! She has really recovered!”“It’s incredible! How is this even possible?” “Wasn’t the patient’s vital signs very weak yesterday? She could pass at any time, so why is she suddenly…” “Doctor Gray, is the patient really going to make a full recovery after recuperating for another week? Are you sure?” “The patient was in a critical condition. How is that possible for her illness to make such a huge change overnight? Are you sure?” In Maryse’s ward at the intensive care unit, many doctors were discussing her condition with looks of disbelief on their faces. The news of her mother’s sudden full recovery from her critical condition had spread all over the hospital, and all the doctors were here today to check out the situation. The Doctor Gray that they were talking about was the doctor who performed the operation for Samantha’s mother, and he was currently examining her mother’s body. Her blood pressure, heart rate, red blood cell and white blood cell count, as well as her breathing, were normal—all her vitals were perfectly fine. Doctor Gray re-read the readings in his hands three times, and all the figures showed that she was in perfectly good health. He was dumbfounded by his findings and was at a total loss for words. “Doctor? Doctor!” Upon seeing the doctor kept reading the data in his hands without saying anything, Samantha asked, “How is my mother?” Her words snapped him back to his senses and he replied, “Your mother is in a good condition. I believe that she can be discharged after some time.” “That’s great!” When she heard the doctor’s confirmation, she felt relieved. “Uh… Young lady, let me ask you this—is there anything out of the ordinary that happened last night?” No matter how hard Doctor Gray racked his brain, he could not figure out how a critically ill patient, who would have died at any moment, could recover overnight. This was something that even medicine could not explain—hence, his question. “Something out of the ordinary?” Upon hearing that, Samantha subconsciously glanced at Christopher, who had been quiet all the while. The latter shook his head and put his index finger to his lips, gesturing for her to not say anything about him.“No!” His actions told Samantha that she was supposed to answer this way, so she did. “No?” Doctor Gray mused, “If that’s the case, all I can say is that your mother is a medical miracle!” Yes; it was a miracle and he strongly believed so. A miracle? Upon hearing the doctor’s words, Samantha smiled. The doctor thought that it was a miracle, which she agreed to as well, but at the same time, she knew that this was not a medical miracle—it was all because of Christopher! After confirming that Maryse would indeed make a full recovery soon, the doctors gave some advice and left. Not long after that, Christopher left Quarry Hill Hospital too. He was in high spirits now, not only because he had successfully saved Samantha’s mother with the Hippocrates Soup, but because of the number of thumbs-up shown on his phone screen. All in all, he had actually gained 11,000 points.
