God-Tier Like System
When Maurice saw how Christopher managed to block off his sharp and swift knife, he felt a numbing sensation in the area of his hand that came in contact with the knife. A look of astonishment surfaced in Maurice’s gaze when he realized that he could barely get a good grip of his own weapon. Any hint of playfulness or breeziness Maurice showed earlier was gone—it was replaced by a rather serious and grim expression. Christopher might be the first person I’ve taken so seriously, Maurice thought. “But you’ll still have to die!” As stunned as Maurice was, he wasn’t entirely threatened by Christopher as he didn’t think that Christopher had the skills to defeat him. There’s no way he can beat me—I’ve always been able to kill my targets with a single knife to the throat. Even if that doesn’t work, I have a huge bunch of other skills. Furthermore, based on my rich experiences in murdering others, I’m sure I still have the upper hand in a fight with this guy. With that thought, Maurice swung his sharp knife around and began to attack Christopher once more. The two of them were standing close to each other, and their four hands moved around in the air as they attacked and defended at the same time. Within one minute, the two men had already struck their knives against the opponent’s knives about 20 times. A few times, Christopher nearly managed to stab Maurice in a vital spot, which would have ended Maurice’s life. Christopher eyed Maurice’s every move in a careful manner while he continued to run through the skills found in the Art of the Knife. He was getting used to the Boil technique, so the speed of his knife only increased as time went on. “Pfft!” Maurice finally grew frustrated when he realized how long the two of them had been trying to attack the other. Finally, Maurice decided to pull out his most powerful skill. “The Boil,” Christopher muttered in his heart. Right after that, the kitchen knife left an afterimage in the spot it had been, while the physical metal was already in Maurice’s skin by the time the image disappeared. Clang! Maurice’s knife didn’t manage to arrive at Christopher’s throat, as Maurice realized that the nerves in his arm had been severed. A gush of fresh blood spurted out of his chest, and life began to leak out of his body. Maurice forced himself to give Christopher a long glare before he collapsed onto the ground and sent dust into the air. Ding! “Congratulations to the Host for eliminating one of the top 10 killers in Brentwood City, and you’ve gotten rid of a pest in our society. You get a total of 10,000 thumbs-up points.” A robotic voice sounded in Christopher’s head right after Maurice took his last breath, and Christopher froze for a moment before he nodded. So, he is a killer, after all. He’s an evil one, too—the Thumbs-Up System wouldn’t have given me 10,000 points otherwise. But this guy is just a small fish in comparison to Darksword, that lunatic killer. Christopher heaved a sigh of relief as he stared at the man he had just defeated with his Art of the Knife. When I first got involved with Jacob, I didn’t expect him to have someone else watching out for him. Things don’t look good for me right now. Right then, Christopher thought of someone who might provide him with some helpful information—Jefferey. With a steely look on his face, Christopher gave Jefferey a call. Jefferey panicked immediately after receiving Christopher’s call. He and Serene hastily gathered their things to rush over after that. They couldn’t slow down even for a second—they’d be kicked out of the police force if they were to laze around in the office when Christopher had just gotten attacked by someone. Before Serene arrived at his place, Christopher gave Samantha a call just to ensure that she hadn’t encountered any threats. He was relieved to hear that she was safe. Bweep! Bweep! Just 30 minutes after the call, Jefferey showed up at the parking lot with his men from the station. They saw Christopher leaning against his Ferrari the moment they arrived. Their attention was quickly captured by the dead body just a distance away from Christopher. The blood on Maurice’s chest hadn’t dried up yet, and the red liquid had trickled all the way down his arm. Jefferey shuddered when he saw how Maurice’s eyes were still wide open. “You aren’t injured, are you, Mr. Christopher?” These were the first words that Jefferey asked after he finally processed the scene that he had just arrived at. Christopher shook his head as he shifted his gaze to Jefferey. “Can you check if this man is on your list of wanted fugitives, Director Reed?” Jefferey took a deep breath before he and Serene walked over to Maurice and took a good look at the dead body. Jefferey’s expression had been calm when he first saw the body, but his entire face twisted into one of utter bafflement when he realized who the person was. The person’s name and face appeared clearly in Jefferey’s mind right then. “He’s Maurice Green, a fugitive we’ve been hunting for a long while. He killed a huge number of people and had disappeared for more than five years before this. I can’t believe he’s here today, and I can’t believe that you, Mr. Christopher…” His voice trailed off. He had witnessed Christopher’s strength in the past—Christopher had lifted Jacob with a single hand and hadn’t even showed any signs of struggle. Jefferey estimated that Christopher could carry 300 pounds with just his right hand. Perhaps that was one of the reasons Jefferey didn’t feel too stunned about the fact that Christopher had managed to defeat Maurice. Maurice was a serial killer, and he certainly would have been sentenced to death even if they caught him. Since Christopher had killed him before they could, Jefferey decided that he would just report it as Maurice being ambushed by another killer. I might even get rewarded by Director Turner for capturing Maurice. “I knew it! He’s some evil killer indeed. Well, is he supported by some other party? Or do you know if there’s someone who’s supporting Jacob?” Christopher frowned as he asked Jefferey. Jefferey shook his head in response. “I’ve never heard of Jacob having some other source of support, and I don’t know how Maurice managed to find himself a shelter that helped him to go by undetected by the police for the past five years. Jacob had been pretty tight on money in the past few years, so I’m sure that someone else had bought him that villa.” Christopher rolled his eyes after hearing what Jefferey said. “Is that all? You might as well have just kept your mouth shut!” Jefferey gave the other man an awkward look. “Don’t worry, Mr. Christopher. I’ll send my men out to check on this, and I believe everything will come to light really soon.” Christopher nodded and ordered Jefferey to pay a little more attention to his housing area. These orders were given as Christopher was worried that someone might attack Samantha—he could never allow such a thing to happen. … The next morning, after Christopher delivered the right amount of Hundred Tonics Nourishing Soup to The Serenade, he headed over to the Thumbs-Up Restaurant. It was that day that he realized how there were nearly 100 people in his restaurant. A smile formed on his face when he thought about how his Instantly Handsome Pie and Beauty Soup were about to become famous in the whole of Brentwood City. There weren’t any issues during their business hours that day—the only issue the customers gave them was their constant requests for another bowl of food. Past noon, Christopher noticed the white Lamborghini that had picked him up in the past.
