Chapter 99 Cold Shoulder

“Who am I?” ‘Sylvia’ let out a low chuckle, which seems even more eerie than the voice of the red core. “It wouldn't matter if I tell you anyways. However, just know this. I'm the one who's going to be the master of your demise today.” “Farce!” The core let out a furious roar. Sooner, the red mist around it began to thicken, making the visibility of the area very low. “Well, I’ve got a limited time so I wouldn't be able to toy with you the way I want.” ‘Sylvia’ brandished her sword, dispersing the incoming mist that were heading her way. “But don't worry, I'll let you have your fill even though it’s your last day on this planet.” Almost immediately, a bright light erupted from her body, bolting towards the red core at a high-speed. The core immediately activated a protective barrier to offset the bright light charging its way. But it soon noticed that there was something off about the light. The light seems to have no sense of attack at all. What’s even more surprising is the amount of brimming energy it contains. Impulsively, its body began to absorb the light, turning it into an energy of its own while increasing its strength simultaneously. “You...” The red core appeared puzzled. Has this girl gone crazy? Who the hell would give their enemy an advantage in a battle. “Quite surprise, aren't you? Since you lack so much energy, why don't you have your fill instead. You don’t have to worry about sucking me dry, in as much as you can absorb every inch of energy inside my body.” The red core soon realizes Sylvia scheme and let out a snicker. “Do you think you can overfeed me with this tiny amount of energy.” “Tiny? Then, how about I tripled the dosage.” The range of the light increases, brightening the whole space with its glow. “Would that do?” ‘Sylvia’ appeared carefree, not a bit worried that she might be sucked dry by the other party. The red core became even more confused at this, but it knew that there was no such thing as free lunch in this world. “Since you want to die so badly, I will help you make it faster.” The mist around it suddenly took the shape of an arrow and fired towards her.“Hmphed.” ‘Sylvia’ let out a snort as she reached out to grab Huji who was behind her before evading the strike. “Dodge all you can. You will still end up in my hands anyways.” The arrow multiplied by folds, directly charging towards her. While evading, ‘Sylvia’ had a sly smile on her face as she kept letting out the energy in her body. ‘It should be happening soon.’ In the midst of launching another of its attack, the red core body suddenly faltered. ‘Huh, what’s going on?’ It hurriedly checked the state of its body and saw that its energy storage had already decreased by half. ‘What the hell is going on?’ Like a wind, it saw its energy reduced by another half with only a quarter remaining. “You! What the hell did you do to my body?!” It roared at the only perpetrator of the whole situation. “I know that you're a gluttonous entity but haven't you heard of something called incompatibility. Not all energies are meant for absorption. Hence, you can only blame your greediness for your downfall.” “Ha-ha-ha.” The core let out a crestfallen laugh. It knew it had fallen into the trap set up by the girl. Its voice suddenly became colder. “Since I'm going to die, I don’t mind taking you all along with me.” Since it knew there was no chance of survival for it, the core ceased holding back on its strength. The whole room was soon filled with a thick red mist, overpowering the bright light coming out of Sylvia’s body. The core knew that once its energy reserves diminish, it would be under the mercy of the young girl. With how proud it is, there’s no way it would let that happened. Hence, it wouldn't mind taking down this planet along with its demise. Almost the same time, an earth-shattering change was taking place in every corner of Starry Sky planet. The surrounding area was covered in thick red mist, preventing anyone from seeing what was before them. “What's happening? Where did this strange mist come from?” “Don't tell me that the fierce beasts are attacking the city right now?” “What! Then, we'll have to evacuate right now!” “I don’t think that’s so since the emergency siren hasn’t been deployed yet.” At this, the panic in everyone died down and their hearts was piqued with curiosity as to where the mist hail from, not knowing the huge danger that lied within it. Inside the wild, the red mist had already enshroud the whole area. Working mercenaries had to put a halt to their journey. “What the hell is this? Where did this mist come from?” One of the mercenaries who was with his team stared at the thick mist around him. 'Rrrr-rrr.' The beast under him began to fidget, as if wanting to get out of the range of the mist. The mercenary soon noticed the abnormal behavior of his contract beast. “Sar, what's happening to you?” Other mercenary also noticed the abnormal behavior of their contract beast. “It must be the red mist. Everyone, summon your contract beasts back to your contract space.” At the same time, all the beasts inside the wilds began to go into a maniac frenzy. ... “I want to see how you can stop me.” The core let out a wicked laugh. ‘Sylvia’ look at the clock timer and saw that she only has some minutes left. “Fine, let’s finish this once and for all.” Sylvia charged forward. “Fool.” The core said amidst its laughter and its body began to swell up at an incredible rate, ready to self-explode. Just when it thought it was going to be over, its whole body suddenly began to shrink like a deflated balloon. Its body felt weak, as if it has been zapped out of all of its energy. In unison, the mist enveloping the whole planet vanished like a wind. The authority, who were about to signal the emergency alarm were all bewildered. 'Where did the mist go? Can someone tell them if they still need to ring out the emergency alarm.' The beasts that had went into rampage became calm after the disappearance of the mist. Laid on Sylvia's palm was a round core that had lost all of its hue. The previously red core had transformed into a white core. “You... Who are you?” A croaky voice sounded from the core. How could such a huge destruction be stopped by the other party? The core didn’t want to believe it but with the evidence laid before it, there was no way to refute it. “Me? You don't deserve to know. From the moment you dare to lay your hands on my master, that had been the beginning of your doom.” “Ha-ha-ha.” The core laughed at ‘Sylvia’ answer. “Fine. Let's say you win this time. I'll make sure not to underestimate you the next time we meet.” 'Crunch.' “Maybe in your next life.” ‘Sylvia’ opened her palm, which was now filled with powdery residues and poured it on the ground. Wiping her palm to remove the remaining particles, she let out a sigh. “Phew. We're done. I thought it was going to be some big fight. Who knew it would fall for such a small trick like that.” She then turned to look at the young dragon that was hiding behind her. “Tsk, you're just the same as your good for nothing master.” Huji heard her insult but choose to remain silent. How would he dare to argue with someone who was able to fight off against that entity. Hence, he could only lower his head like a puppy obeying his master.“Tch.” Sylvia sneered. “Turned into a bigger form and take me out of here." Huji hurriedly nodded and transformed into his huge form. If Ian was here, he would have rubbed his eyes in dismay, wondering if this docile beast was his. ‘Sylvia’ climbed onto his back and sat down. Huji let out a roar, a gale of wind erupt from his mouth, blasting a pathway through the fallen boulder before taking off. “Oh look, it's Sylvia.” Atlas was the first to sight the two of them. “Sylvia!” Miley dashed forward. Seeing them, Sylvia ordered Huji to descend and jumped down from his back. Huji immediately shrink back and went into Ian consciousness. “Are you okay?” Miley asked her. “I'm fi--” Before she could answer the question, someone hurriedly rushed towards her. “Are you hurt anywhere? Did that thing hurt you? I'm so sorry. It was me who ought to have been hit while you...” Ian cried. Seeing her palm being tightly squeezed by the other party, ‘Sylvia’ expression shifted to that of a disgust. She hurriedly pulls out her hand and took out a hanky from her ring to wipe her hand. “I'm fine. I don't need your pathetic solace.” Ian felt Sylvia coldness towards him and became even more hurt. 'Hmph, how dare you touch my host. Now that I'm in charge, I'm going to make sure you have nothing to do with her.' However before ‘Sylvia’ could do anything, her consciousness suddenly became hazy. “Sylvia!” Ten simultaneous voices shouted out her name seeing that she was about to fall. Since Ian was closer, he immediately reached out to support her. 'No! I can't let this bastard take advantage of the host.' Susu roared internally. But it was too late as he lost possession of Sylvia body. He could only watch her fall into Ian embrace. “She just fell asleep.” Atlas said after checking up on Sylvia. “That's a relief. Let's head back.” Miley announced.
