Upgradable Space: Reborn to Survive the Apocalypse
This was a sight the pig had never seen in its entire life. It was also something no other pig would ever see. Because of the mutation, its brain was a little smarter than normal. But at this moment, that brain completely froze. It didn't know where it was and what it was doing. So it just fell. Straight down, like a rock to the ground. And Nelson was still on its back. Nelson felt it too. He was about to hit the ground, and worse, the giant pig might crush him. But Nelson had already noticed something. The metal cable tied around him was something Tyler had created. So, he didn't say a word. He only stared hard into the storm, desperately searching for Tyler's figure. Dude! Don't let me fall! His heart was pounding. Just as they were about to hit the ground, everything suddenly flipped. The pig landed smoothly on all four legs, standing firmly on the ground. "Tyler! I caught Nelson!" Denton's voice rang out. Through the wind and sand, Tyler came riding in on Snow, cutting through the storm. "Run! Get inside the base now!" Tyler shouted. The sandstorm and the tornado were getting closer. When Caroline reached the base entrance, she saw everyone safely inside. Two soldiers quickly slammed the base doors shut. The moment the doors closed, the tornado hit. The entire base shook. Outside the glass windows, sand filled the air. Trash flew past wildly, spinning in the wind. "Is everyone okay?" Caroline asked anxiously. Nelson shook his head. Tyler and Denton both said they were fine. Shane hadn't returned. Caroline was just about to ask...Bang! A loud crash echoed through the base. A chair slammed into one of the windows. The glass instantly cracked into a spiderweb pattern and looked like it would shatter any second. The soldiers panicked. Caroline stepped in and sealed the cracked windows with ice. The soldiers rushed to find wooden boards and metal sheets to reinforce them. Everyone joined in to help. Even Raven ran back and forth carrying boards. Only the pig stayed where it was, completely still. It stood there, doubting its entire pig life. What had just happened? What had it just seen? The cupcake that had been dangling in front of it this whole time was finally eaten. But after seeing the sky, the cupcake didn't taste good anymore. After a long struggle, the tornado finally moved away. Only thick sand and dust were left behind. Outside, the wind kept howling. The sky turned yellow. Visibility dropped to a few feet. All outdoor activities were canceled. Everyone stayed inside the shelter, nervous and uneasy. About half of the glass windows had been destroyed and were temporarily covered with wood or metal. And then something worse happened: the entire base lost power. By then, Caroline and the others had already returned to their rooms. Caroline hurried to feed the hungry panda cubs. Jet stood nearby, eyes wide in fear. Then he dove straight under Raven's belly. "Raven! The wind was screaming outside, and the cubs were crying inside. I was terrified!" Jet said. Raven glanced at him like he was looking at an idiot. But he still lowered himself slightly and gently wrapped Jet with his soft belly. When the power went out, Caroline's eyebrow twitched. She wasn't scared. She had plenty of generators and power equipment in her storage space. But there was one problem: the base's air conditioning was going to stop. Outside, the temperature was still around 122°F. The only reason life inside the base was comfortable was because of the ventilation and AC systems. Without power, things were going to get rough. It was already evening. The sandstorm blocked out the sky, and without electricity or lights, the base was plunged into darkness. Caroline stepped out of her room, planning to ask Nelson about Shane. The moment she opened the door, she saw Nelson walking toward her, as if he had been looking for her too. "Caroline, I have something important to tell you," Nelson said. His expression was serious. He told Caroline everything about Shane. Then he shared his conclusion. "I don't think the person who spoke to me at the end was Shane," Nelson said firmly. "I think someone was using his body to send us a message." Caroline nodded lightly. Shane's sudden appearance—and his sudden disappearance—were already difficult to explain. After Shane arrived, Caroline sent Francis to contact the prison Shane came from to verify the exact time he left and track what happened to him afterward.
