Upgradable Space: Reborn to Survive the Apocalypse
Jet suddenly floated up, belly facing the ceiling. He only rose a few inches off the ground, but he was really flying. Not just Jet, Raven floated too! Raven's black dog face turned toward Caroline as if saying, Human, human! This is my ability! Cool, right? Caroline suddenly recalled the Zero System's notes. It said the gravity range could be adjusted from 0.3 to 5 times normal. So, if you increase gravity, a person would feel a sudden heavy pressure. Someone running might fall flat on their face. Someone trying to attack might not even lift their arms. If you lowered gravity, a person could float a little. They might even slide faster because there's less friction on the ground. That meant speed could get crazy fast. Just as she thought about it, a black blur flashed in front of her. Raven's face suddenly appeared right in front of hers. He gave her a quick lick on the cheek. So fast! Caroline didn't even have time to react. Raven already sprinted around the room and jumped back in front of her again. With this kind of speed, if Raven attacked while she wasn't ready, she probably couldn't block it. Raven's beautiful mismatched eyes stared at her. His head leaned against her shoulder, and his tiny tail wagged so hard it looked like it might fly off. After the shock wore off, Caroline finally understood what he wanted. She quickly reached out and rubbed his big head. Caroline praised, "Good job, Raven. You're amazing. You're such a good dog! Raven, you're super strong!" With every word she said, Raven's tail wagged even harder. His dog face lit up with pure joy. Caroline had to admit this. No matter how strange Raven became, he was still her big, loyal dog. Jet stood beside them, flattering Raven nonstop. Caroline suspected he remembered the broth he wanted, or maybe he hoped Raven would help him chase after Silver like he promised. In the other room, Denton was busy smothering Silver with kisses. Silver had awakened an ability too—an exploration skill. After Caroline copied it, she found it pretty interesting. Special Ability: You Can't See Me Note: This is a passive ability. When the user really doesn't want to be seen, they just think, ‘You can't see me,' and their presence drops to almost zero. People nearby will naturally overlook the user. A perfect skill for sneaking, spying, or taking a break when you're supposed to be working. Available Uses: X5. Caroline had to admit, this ability fit Silver perfectly. But the moment Denton asked Silver to show it, Silver floated up and disappeared from his sight. When Silver stood on the table, Denton walked right past her to the couch. When Silver stood on the couch, Denton looked her way, then he suddenly lowered his head to the floor again. In the end, Denton wandered around the room for ten whole minutes and still didn't find Silver. "Silver, please don't use that ability on me again. My heart almost stopped when I couldn't find you!" Denton cried, hugging Silver tight. The tears weren't emotional tears; he cried because Tyler had smacked him. Yesterday, Tyler had driven 12 hours straight. He even fought off a swarm of mutant flies in the middle, battling for what felt like 300 rounds. When he got home, he barely slept. And early this morning, Denton woke him up by yelling Silver's name over and over while Silver stood calmly on his shoulder. But Denton still couldn't see her and kept looking for her. Tyler lost his temper at that. ... Compared to the lively noise on the 66th floor, the shelter downstairs felt heavy and quiet. A casket was carried out from the shelter. Francis walked in front, holding one end of the casket. Behind him, more than a hundred soldiers marched out in a straight line, their faces tight and serious. They wore black armbands, and grief showed in every expression. Francis led the group and shouted, "Commander Ball, rest in peace!"But before they got far, two trucks pulled up and blocked their path. A team of soldiers stepped out. They also wore uniforms and black armbands. As soon as they got off, they stood at attention and saluted the casket. Their leader was Philip, the same man who once blocked Francis when he tried to clear out the Lowlands. He worked for Andrew. "Francis," Philip said respectfully, "Commander Zimmer sent me to attend the funeral. He's truly sorry. He couldn't come in person because of military duties." Their trucks moved to the side, giving space. But Francis, acting like a man drowning in grief, didn't hold back at all. He pointed straight at Philip and snapped, "Busy with military work, huh? So busy that he's been watching our shelter every single day? So busy he even sent people to spy on us? Sounds real busy to me!"
