Upgradable Space: Reborn to Survive the Apocalypse
Option 2: Add a self-protection system to the base. The base adapts to heat, storms, and humidity. It stays warm in winter and cool in summer. Equipped with its own defense system, it keeps humans safe. Even in the apocalypse, you can live like a king! Option 3: Adults don't make choices. Adults want everything. But think carefully, can you afford it? Be careful not to work yourself to the bone, my friend. The storage space is fully prepared to recycle human organs. It has a special interest in your heart, liver, lungs, and everything else. Get ready to drain yourself dry! At first, Caroline was confused. The first two upgrades actually looked reliable. For a moment, she even wondered if the storage space might actually be reliable today. But the moment she read the third line, she started grinding her teeth. Yep. There it was. The same old storage space. The same cheeky attitude. The same annoying explanations. Still, Option 3 was so tempting. She wanted both Option 1 and Option 2. Both upgrades were incredibly useful. How could anyone choose just one? The wall upgrade was definitely necessary. Right now, her mobile base was just a big empty building surrounded only by trees. It had almost no protection. A wall that could be upgraded later? That was a great investment. And the self-protection system. With the brutal heatwave going on, even though she had tons of ice, snow blocks, a freezer, a generator, an AC unit, and even a small ice maker in her storage space, none of that could beat a base that adjusted its own temperature and humidity. Plus, she really wanted that built-in defense system. Something told her that if the wall and the defense system worked together, the result would be amazing. She was an adult. So yes, she wanted everything. But for some strange reason, she could foresee she would work tirelessly in the near future. Caroline understood the nasty attitude of her storage space all too well. If it dared to warn her about it, it would drain her dry; it meant choosing both upgrades would cost a ridiculous amount of energy. And that energy could only come from one place. Mutant creature bodies.Still, Caroline clenched her jaw. Fine. Adults don't pick just one. She would take both upgrades. She'd gamble everything. Nathaniel was saved now. The military owed them a huge favor. Getting more mutant creature corpses in the future shouldn't be a problem. Plus, with the great heat coming, those creatures would multiply like crazy. And with the way her, Tyler, and Denton's powers kept growing, they could hunt more of them and feed the mobile base all the energy it needed. Besides, she still had a decent stash of mutant creature bodies stored away. Thinking through all that, she chose the third option. Right away, she felt a chill crawl down her spine. A heartbeat later, the mobile base vanished before her, and she was thrown out of the storage space. The empty lot she stood on was no longer empty. A two-story villa had popped up out of nowhere. Around it stood a low wall, only about three feet tall. The wall didn't even have a gate yet. Honestly, it looked kind of sloppy. Compared to the nice little villa, the wall looked like a tall, handsome guy wearing shorts that didn't even cover his backside. At the same time, a transparent panel flickered into view in front of Caroline. It was the control screen for the mobile base. Mobile Base (Cross-Level Upgrade: Multi-Function Mode) Level: 2 Function: A movable apocalypse shelter that can exist outside the storage space. It provides a safe place for Caroline and her friends. Original Rules: The base can stay outside the storage space for only 10 hours every 24 hours. After that, it must return inside to reset. To keep it outside longer, you must supply a small daily amount of mutant energy. Cross-Level Upgrade Rule: Daily mutant energy cost becomes 20 times higher. Note: Caroline, are you ready to work hard?Caroline froze. Twenty times? Her heart was aching when she thought about it. She had stored many mutated-creature bodies in her storage space—some from Kay, some from the military. Before this upgrade, that amount of energy could power the mobile base for two years. Now? It had been cut down by 20 times. Those bodies could only let her live comfortably inside the mobile base for one month. She suddenly felt the mobile base was acting like Raven. It was always hungry. But Raven didn't even eat that much anymore. Only when his ability was unstable did he eat without limit. This mobile base looked like it would need bottomless energy every day until its next upgrade.
