Upgradable Space: Reborn to Survive the Apocalypse
The three men tried their best to calm down. They told themselves it was just a quick encounter. Nothing bad would happen, right? The man leading the group, riding on his oversized mutant cat, forced a smile and said, "Hello, we—" He didn't finish. A face snapped into view right in front of him. It was Shane. He had teleported. He appeared out of thin air, pale and wild-eyed, wrapped in an energy that felt sharp enough to cut the air itself. He leaned in with a twisted look and stared at the leader. "Do you have a cupcake?" The leader froze. The others also froze. Their brains jammed. Nothing made sense. Before they could process anything, Shane snapped. People with mental illness like him were always sensitive, but dropping him into an unfamiliar place made that sensitivity explode. "I asked, do you have a cupcake?" Shane growled, his teeth clenched tight. The dangerous pressure pouring off him made all three men shake. "N-no," one of them answered, gathering every ounce of courage he had. "Then die." Shane swung out his hand and grabbed the man by the throat. But these guys weren't helpless. The fight erupted instantly. ... Fifteen minutes later, three bodies lay on the rooftop of a three-story building. Shane crouched beside them, yanking off their jackets and shirts, flipping every pocket he could find. As he searched, he muttered louder and louder, his voice cracking with anger. "Cupcake, cupcake, cupcake. Nelson, Nelson, Nelson." He found nothing. Of course he found nothing. And that made him crankier. He looked around. He didn't know this place at all. The unfamiliar surroundings made his skin crawl, like the whole world was mocking him. He wanted to destroy it. With that thought, he slammed his fist into the rooftop. Cracks burst from the impact point like a spiderweb, crawling across the entire rooftop. In seconds, the whole top floor was about to collapse. In the corner of a rooftop, a black cat was trembling. The other two cats had already escaped, but this one was too timid. It curled into a ball and didn't dare move. It was a chubby black cat with a round face and a tiny nose. Its ears were small, shaped like two little triangles sitting on its pumpkin-round face. Its eyes were bright gold, shining even more against its dark fur. The cat looked adorable—but terrified. Suddenly, Shane teleported right in front of the cat. He tilted his head and stared at it. "Do you know where I can find cupcakes? Do you know where Nelson is?" The poor cat trembled even harder. Shane reached out and grabbed the mutant cat by the scruff. This mutant cat was the size of a lion, yet itwas dangled helplessly as he lifted it and set it on the ground. Then he climbed onto its back, just like the other men earlier. Shane ordered, "Take me to the cupcakes and Nelson!" The cat shivered twice, then suddenly bolted. It sprinted deeper into the city, running farther and farther away from Hornvale. ... On the other side, Caroline had already reached the spot she picked out. But when she tried to take out the mobile base, something went wrong. After arriving, she first checked the area again. Just as she expected, because of that giant fish she fought earlier, there were no strangers wandering around and no dangerous mutated creatures either. The whole place was quiet and still. A ring of forest surrounded the area, making it a good hiding spot. Once the mobile base was set down, the trees would give plenty of cover. So, Caroline was ready to take it out. But the moment she stepped into her storage space and reached for the mobile base, a system panel suddenly popped up in front of her. Only then did she remember the last time she upgraded two parts of the storage space system, the Vibrant Fish Pond and the mobile base. She had checked the mobile base upgrades back then, but nothing had changed. Jasper told her that the new functions wouldn't activate until the base was actually taken out of the storage space. So when the system panel appeared, Caroline's heart skipped. Finally! She could see what the mobile base's new functions were! But after reading the list, she fell silent. It was a multiple-choice question. Mobile Base Level: 2 Three New Functions (Choose One): Option 1: Perimeter Wall System. Install a protective wall around the base with a radius of 26 feet with a starting height of 3 feet. With enough energy supply, the wall's height, hardness, defense, and even attack systems can be upgraded over time.
